New to DD a few questiosn

Hello, I have recently bought a Natsuki V2 DD and i have a few questions i would like to ask.

First, would it be a good idea to buy those joint reinforcements from Coolcat? I have heard that the DDIII's joint isnt exactly durable.

I would also like to know whether the face up in Natsuki V2 is easy to smear off, and if so, whether there are any way to strengthen the faceup to prevent me from doing so. I am always a bit paranoid when going into a new hobby (especially an expensive one). I would like to buy a new head and try to create a faceup by myself, but i am not exactly an artist, thus i may hold off on that haha.

Finally I live in Hong Kong, i am just wondering if any members that live here may know of some good places to buy DD clothings, accessories, etc without buying online? I know of JR Toys (which i got my marked up Natsuki ) and Dollfie World. I have also learned that Dollheart is located across of JR toys (according to the website; since i am going to MK tonight, i may as well take a look).

Sorry for the long post and thank you !

Hello. Congratz on your Natsuki.

You can buy reinforcments from Coolcats if you feel it is important, but even though the joints can crack, it's not that likely if you are careful with her.

I don't think DD faceups will smear if you don't intentionally remove it. I'm sure Volks made sure the faceups wouldn't smear. I've heard about faceups yellowing before though, so be careful with it just in case.

And lastly, no, sorry, I don't know about any shops in Hong Kong.

Good luck with your new DD!

On temporary hiatus.

As long as you are not rubbing your fingers against their faces, they should not smear even after many years. My oldest girls, Feena and Estel from 2007 still have their original faces with no apparent damage. While I am not rough with them, I do play with them, groom them and occasionally let them travel with me.

If you decide to add eyelashes though, those can eventually fall off--especially if you use a hairstyle that covers an eye and puts pressure on the eyelash.

I don't believe that faceups smear easily, but if you want to be extra careful, seal it with ZM Finishing Powder Spray, found on either Volks website. I think it also makes yellowing less likely to occur in white skin dolls.

Specializing in the art of being different, which is a polite way of saying "weird."

I do think I'm too young for this hobby…

Face-ups don't 'smear' but they might chip or rub off. But that's just for regular face-ups done with sealant, pastels, and paint. The pastel powder will definitely not be loose >_< Unless the face-up is not finished.

Volks DD default face-ups don't use pastels or even sealant (as I recently learned). They use paint applied with airbrush, and it seems really durable. I wouldn't worry about it!

There's not much. There's another doll shop at 111 Argyle St, but expect it to be expensive.

I just buy my stuff online now, or try to make it myself.

Did you miss the Dollism Plus event held on July 13/14 ?

I went over my planned budget when i went
