Thrift store finds

My Mom is the Thrift Store Queen around here. She loves finding deals on stuff and since she has grown more attached to my girls, she now keeps her eyes open for cool things that they may be able to use.

 

Recently she found some really cool stuff and dropped it off to us. So here are some of her finds!

 

Manami and Mai will walk us thru! Hey they are with their new loot.

 

 

"Oba-chan was so nice to us!"

 

 

"Yes, Oba-chan is quite the good shopper."

 

 

"Check out these cool candles and holders!"

 

 

"They have little kitties on them!"

 

These 2 candle holders and candles were a buck apiece.

 

 

Mai - "She also got us this pepper plant. I like spicy food so this will be really handy."

 

Manami - "It's pretty and all but I don't like spicy foods... yuck!"

 

 

"This was a really neat idea. Oba-chan keeps a spare hand with her for sizing things and she found this tackle box for us to keep our hands in!"

 

 

"Papa had been using 2 boxes that our hands come in from Volks but they fall apart after opening and closing them so many times. This is much easier to carry around and see what we need!"

 

This was also a dollar.

 

 

"And this is a hope chest type thing."

 

 

"It's really pretty... all the designs are hand painted on it!"

 

 

"It has two drawers that slide out. We're not sure what we're gona keep in here just yet. Papa needs to clean it out first, it's kinda dirty inside."

 

This cost two bucks.

 

 

"Lastly, we have this most excellent storage unit."

 

 

"This used to be a jewelry box but we have converted it over to hold jewelry as well as shoes."

 

This was the most expensive thing.... it was four dollars. XD

 

 

Mai - "The top flips up to show the jewelry storage area."

 

Manami - "We also keep sunglasses and some belts in here too."

 

 

Inside the top.....

 

 

 

"Down here is where we store the shoes."

 

 

"These small drawers hold one pair of shoes each quite nicely."

 

 

"Manami! I thought you were supposed to clean these drawers out! We have soot sprites again!"

 

"I just cleaned those, I swear!"

 

 

"This side opens up wider so we can get big boots in here."

 

 

"The big boots go in back and the sneakers stay up front."

 

 

"And these drawers also have shoes in them. Can't have too many shoes!"

 

 

"Thank you for the goodies Oba-chan!"

Those are some great finds. Love the jewelry box / dresser. It's nice of your mother to keep an eye out for your girls while she's thrift hunting.

I really love the Jewelry box turned into a shoe holder... and yeah, you gotta watch out for those Soot Sprites, they'll sneak up on ya.

Actually that's Mai. It's the Volks "Teacher" set from the L.A. Parsonal line of clothes. I like it too!

Thanks! She really does treat me and my girls well. I also think that dresser thing is great.... too bad Manami wasnt cleaning like she should have. Those Soot Sprites always seem to pop up!

Oh, now that's some nice thrift store loot! The best stuff I've ever found at a thrift store were some MC Hammer and Foreigner tapes. My car tape deck broke shortly afterward, I think it was the Vanilla Ice tape... My friend and I could only get through the first track or so of that one...

Most of those buttons were from Chise on Figurefm, I bought all but the 2 you mentioned. The Smurf one I found in a parking lot while working on school buses and the Yuri one I got at Animazement in NC this year. I need to get the girls to wear some of them soon so I can show them off better. Glad you like them tho!

wow, I love seeing all these cool 1/3 scale finds for the girls. Great idea having a spare hand for your Mom so she can easily size stuff up when she finds something!! The soot sprites are wonderful, love those little guys.

 

The tackle box for their hands is also a good idea, i'm using a zip-lock baggie now but would like something more organized. Even more another pair of hands coming in!!!

Thanks! She really enjoys trying to find them stuff now. She just found me another wooden rocking chair for $3.00. I had a spare "V" hand that someone sent me that has what look like cat tooth marks all over it so I told her to carry it around so she can check sizes. It's worked really well so far.

 

The tackle box idea wasn't mine originally, I got it from Asian Ed. He uses a larger one than this. But I told my Mom to keep an eye open for one and she got this one cheap. It works great too. So easy to see what is where even when it's closed.

The jewelry chest is a great idea for a DD dresser. I never thought of that. It holds a lot of stuff! Love the little dust guys with the eyes.

 

My mother used to cross-stitch and she has bunch of similar clear boxes for her threads. Maybe I can use one once I collect some hands. (What a strange thing to say... collect some hands. Hehe)

I haven't been to any yard sales but those thrift stores seem to be magnets for cool DD sized stuff.

 

I'm glad you like the goodies tho. I mainly posted this to let people know that you can find cool stuff for cheap if you look in different places. Personally, I wouldn't have thought to ever check thrift stores like Goodwill and such but my Mom has done really well at them.

 

And yes, at first, "collecting hands" does sound a bit odd. But as you can see, I sure needed something to hold my collection. LOL

Ha ha! I didn't even notice really. I also thoguht it sounded weird even tho *I* am collecting hands too.

Thanks! I agree that it isnt easy at all to come across scaled furniture that looks decent. And thanks about my Mom, she really is awesome!

 

Speaking of, she also just found a wicker chair and table at a thrift store.... but she gave it to my sister due to my sister whining that *I* always get all the good stuff. But I can borrow them to use in photo shoots if I want so I'll try and do that sometime soon.
