leitan Posted August 16, 2013 just wondering - anyone here own any TokyoDoll dolls? you may know them by their line names such as DT Mate, Popmate, etc - their official ordering and business site is http://www.tokyodoll.biz/ they are seamless (vinyl?) dolls that come in a variety of styles and scales from anime/painted eyes/loli type dolls to more "realistic" ones that look more mature, BJD-esque in the face, etc. i don't own any but they've been on my radar for a while. at first, i was pretty sure i had no interest in them, but i actually find myself looking at the DT Mate dolls with a second glance now. they are a little uncanny and creepy to me, but i kind of like them for that... and since i've never owned a seamless doll before, they have a bit of a novelty value too. sorry if there is a thread for these dolls already - i had a look and didn't see one, but if i missed it, feel free to point me to it. so, does anyone here own any TokyoDoll dolls? Qbee Posted August 17, 2013 While I don't own them I'm somewhat familiar with these dolls. They're not vinyl they're made of silicone and contain internal wire armatures for posing. The problem with these dolls is the skin of the silicone is rather soft and prone to tearing if you're not careful. They are also somewhat high maintenance since the silicone has a tendency to attract dust so you need to wash and apply a special powder to keep them clean. If you're the kind of person who's looking to get a lot of poseability or play out your dolls I really wouldn't recommend them since you might get scared about tearing them, however you can purchase a special repair kit they sell on their website. There's a detailed account of someone who owned one of these dolls for a few years on a blogspot called ofarte060 (NSFW!). I was interested in getting one myself back when they were known as Artetokio, they made a doll of Rin from Kodomo no Jikan, but she's beyond extremely rare so It's pretty much impossible for me to get a hold of one now.
Marq V Posted August 31, 2013 I know you asked specifically about the TokyoDoll, but I do own a LovelyDoll which is produced in China. I believe this is very similar to the TokyoDoll. I knew about the LovelyDoll before I ever heard of TokyoDoll. Many of the things Qbee mentioned are true such as: -Internal wire frame though I believe mine also has some plastic framing. -Collecting dust easily. However, I never have had to use a special powder after cleaning them. Just use mild soap and I use a body powder designed for woman. In fact you will have to use powder every time you want to change clothes because the silicone is very tacky. -They are high maintenance. -You can get repair kits but I have only seen TokyoDoll offering them, not LovelyDoll. You can see the seam line but it is not too bad. My doll has wires in the fingers for individual finger movement but there is none in the toes. The body is also blushed. The big problem is the wires will eventually break if you pose them too many times. All the elbow and knees joints are broken on my doll as well as the neck joint. Even the left wrist and ankle are broken (which appears to be plastic joints). Some of the wires are protruding from the right hand, which I did cut back so that are not anymore. However, with all the joints broken some poses are much easier when the body is laying down. So, would I recommend a silicone body? Yes, despite all the problems with this body, I have really enjoyed my Gena hybrid (she is a Soom Gena resin head on the silicone body). In fact, for some time I did consider getting her a resin body but now I can't picture her with any other body except the silicone. So I will eventually buy her a new body or maybe 2 to have as a backup in case they ever stop producing them. By the way, the LovelyDoll doll with all everything including shipping is about $750 USD. If you want to see my Gena, click on my website. Be warned many images are NSFW Galfriends at home: DD: Yoko, Yui, & Briana Rei Resin: Tatiana, Leda, Miyoi, Tana,... & Gena<
chanela Posted May 23, 2016 Would a dd head fit on the 55cm sized tokyo doll, or maybe the 60cm?

For you how long did the joints last before it reached this point? Also before the joints were broken, how articulate were they? I mean in comparison to a dd2 or more like a dd3? Evoke Kui had been on my mind for a good time now and it seems like a great time to purchase her soon. Though I'll more than likely order her full set with the 62cm but purchase the large bust 58cm evoke bodies fire ger default instead. Clothing size, I'm so glad she'll be able to wear all my Dy clothing. looking for - , Marisa Short Wig, full set Beatrice or default face + eyes & Sasara Fullset or default face + eyes. Monty Posted August 29, 2016 ...that looked so scary I cant help but imagine if doing it like that would damage the faceup eventually, though...seems like it definitely would. *twitter*instagram*art*
Cydril Posted September 4, 2022 After looking at these dolls for a long time I bit the bullet and ordered smiling Tiara. The proxy says production time is about 30 days so we will see
