Hello from Arizona!

Hello from Phoenix, Arizona

 

I’m Marq. I don’t know if I fit into the general demographic but I’m a 48 year old male.

 

Having visited Dollfie Dreams from time to time without registering, I have enjoyed the camaraderie of the members based on the topics I have read.

 

I thought that I should join and, hopefully, be welcomed to the "Dollfieship".

 

The Dollfies I own are:

 

*Yoko Littner

**Akiyama Mio

**Hirasawa Yui

***Sakuya: Crimson (found out today I am one of the winners of the Dolpa Nagoya 5 USA lottery).

 

I also have resin dolls (SD & MSD) and I am also a member of Den of Angels.

*I have never seen Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but I came to know about Yoko when I was studying Japanese. What I most love about her Dollfie Dream form is her cute smile and gorgeous hair

 

**I have never seen K-On! But, like Yoko, came to know about these characters while studying Japanese. I got Yui and Mio because I play guitar and a little bit of bass and the prices were too good to pass up

 

***This was my first time entering a lottery and I was pleasantly surprised that I won. I consider myself very fortunate. I have not played Shining Blades but Sakuya is simply stunning!

 

I think this shows that a well made character design can go well beyond the initial worlds they were made for. I don't know any of these ladies' backstories, but it doesn't matter. It's akin to Star Trek and Star Wars fan fiction; You take the basic design and make your own story

I think that what you describe happens pretty often; the original character designs Volks licenses are usually pretty charming, and then Volks makes such lovely sculpts for them too, that a lot of people end up falling for them regardless of whether they were fans of the source material or not. And really, some customization happens even to those of us who are keeping them as their licensed characters--sort of taking the backstory and then giving them a custom present and future, I suppose.

 

Of course, that often gets thrown out the window at meetups. Things get chaotic sometimes in our group!

Sweet! If you've got stands, you may want to bring them, and any props you've got that you'd like to get nice shots of. (Thinking about packing Nanoha's default and her staff for that reason.) Oh, and your camera!

XD And truthfully, if I watch the anime because I like the Dollfie and not the other way around, I am usually really dissapointed. Yes, I too would probably be disappointed if I saw the respective anime. Because I already have a personality set with the Dollfies which, more than likely, would be different than those anime. Then again, without the anime I wouldn't have my wonderful Dollfies so it's all good
