MikuMikuDance watchers, anyone?

Does anyone here enjoy watching MikuMikuDance videos?

 

I came to know about Vocaloids and Utaus (Utaloids) back in late 2008, with their music videos and non-music videos via YouTube. Many of those posted on YouTube were *taken from the Japanese site ニコニコ動画(Nico Nico Douga).

 

There is such a wealth of number of videos it could have its own television network. There is also a cornucopia of video styles; comedy, drama, action, horror, family oriented, and some I would describe as theatre-of-the-absurd. I like several of these styles, but the ones I enjoy the most are the family oriented and friendship videos which bring a lot of joy and fun and some can pull on my heartstrings.

 

Anyway, I know there is a posting here on Dollfie Dreams about Vocaloids and their music (which I also thoroughly enjoy), but I was wondering if anyone enjoys watching the animation of MMD.

 

 

*I later found out that several of the video uploads on YouTube were done so without the video creators’ permission. I didn’t know this when I first started watching back in 2008, but now I always do my best to make sure the upload is from the creator themselves or the video channel has permission.

Sometimes, though, I am drawn into the video before I read the description, which is really no excuse on my part

I was really into the first 2 years I came to know about it, then waned and only recently started watching again. Which I suppose is good to make it fresh again.

MMD / 3DCustomGirl is something i would like to experiment with using sometime! i don't closely keep up to date with MMD videos but i've certainly seen a lot of really awesome and funny ones, and of course Vocaloid software is extremely prolific and becoming even more mainstream in the west all the time.

 

it's a really fun creative medium (like any other machinima-type video software really).

Hmm. Which ones to pick? I have seen about 450 MMD videos, though a good number of those are music videos.

Here is a very brief list of some of my favorites that aren’t music specific. Some do have English annotations but even those that don’t the story can still be followed.

 

Also, these links are either from the original author or subscriber who got permission to re-upload. The few that don't at least give a link to the original source.

Well...the part that directly relates to MMD is 3D Construction Engineering Visualizations, but I pretty much deal with well..ANYTHING IT related at work....including but not limited to internal projects programming, web development, tech support, photography, etc. What happened was I actually tried to learn how to use MMD, and despised the interface so badly that I ended up moving onto self-teaching a real 3D Package (Autodesk Maya), which I inadvertently had a chance to use to model some stuff for a research project at the university job I had, which was liked enough by one of the Professor's post-docs who then asked if I wanted to come do more stuff after I graduated at the Professor's consulting company that he was going to....and so here I am lol (I have mainly moved on to using 3DS Max for both hobby purposes and work, just because thats what we have licences for here)....

 

Hope that was a good enough explanation for the roundabout way it relates to your question and MMD xD And no, I'm not nearly as good at this stuff as I probably sound.
