Do you keep a tally of what you have spent on this hobby?

No, I don't. It's too scary to think. xD I also save money by not buying any anime merchandise (apart occasional poster) or go to movies. I can't afford wasting money like that. So later I reward myself with some BJD stuff.

Just this year alone for dollfies I've already used up to 3k USD...

NO! Absolutely not! The closest I have for a tally is the total my next volks order will come to. I plan to delete that file once everything is here.

I know I spent a lot on my dolls, I even know I spend way too much on my dolls XD. I just really don't want to face how much I actually spend vs how much I tell myself I'm spending.

Haha .... Several weeks ago my husband asked what my dolls cost and I started throwing out prices only to realize he was looking a bit shellshocked after just a couple of the pricier ones. I asked him if he really wanted to know and he shook his head and turned around.

 

And my collection is a drop in the bucket compared to a few of my friends.....

I definitely try not to think about it. It's sometimes hard to part with the money for new dolls or outfits at the time, but thankfully that anxiety fades. I dread to think of how much this hobby has cost me all up, lol!

I've had many different hobbies that I enjoyed spending my hard earned cash on I've never kept a tally of what I've spent for each of my hobbies so naturally I haven't kept a tally for all my dolls & their stuff. My dolls alone would make for a nice down payment on a car so I know if I added everything else to the mix it would be a sizable sum. If I wanted to know I could go into my PayPal account/online banking and add everything up, but I really have no interest in doing so. I love this hobby so much and it continues to bring me much joy even after being in the hobby for almost 4 years I make sure to purchase dolls/items at retail, extremely close to retail, or at wonderful discounted prices. In doing this I don't feel that I've overspent in this hobby and so far so good

I have spent a lot on dolls as I've been in the hobby itself since late 2007 and have a lot of dolls, a lot of doll clothes and other doll related expenses like fabric for making clothes and spending for face ups and things like that.

 

I don't really want to put a number to it lol it's too high.

I try not to think about it-----between the resin, vinyl, and high end action figures.........

Nope, I shudder to think what my total spending on my dolls has added up to over the years. But that's ok; what else am I going to spend my moola on? Hookers and blow? No thanks I'll stick to my dollies. Though come to think of it a cocaine addiction would probably be cheaper monetarily than my doll addiction.

That's how I spend mine. The rest I just waste.

I'm close enough to my entry to this hobby that I know the amount I've spent with some precision.

 

I started in the Dollfie Dream segment of the BJD hobby (and that hobby as a whole) in mid May of this year. In the (little under) three months since, I've spent about $1,600 USD on Dollfie Dream stuff.

I don't and will never do, because I personally don't see a reason to do so.

I have friends who are doing this down to the shipping, customs and PP fees they paid for something but in my opinion that's a bit obsessive if you don't fear you are spending too much.

If you have the feeling you don't know where your money ends and don't understand while at the end of each month you have to eat dry noodles, then this is important to do.

But else?

A few years ago my father asked me how much I had spent in the last years and a few minutes of counting and humming later I simply told him I could have bought a new car for it.

I wasn't shocked about it, but I also don't write down how much I spend for food or clothes down to the occasional bubblegum and pack of socks, why should I write down when I bought a pair of eyes for one of my dolls then?

There's no way I could do that. I would probably stop spending money on the hobby altogether if I kept track of everything. I tend to feel guilty about buying things for myself.

 

Once, I did add up how much money I'd made selling various doll items I didn't want anymore during the course of year which was interesting. Of course, that money usually goes straight back into getting more doll stuff, haha.

I keep track of my spending, but I don't feel bad about buying stuff or spending my money either. XD I work darn hard for that money! lol

My spending on my DD mainly goes towards wigs and eyes as I sew most of her outfits myself so that saves me a lot of money~

For now, it's pretty easy since Miku is the only DD that I have. But once, about two years ago, I counted up how much I've spent in the BJD hobby... Never again, I don't want to know! XD

Since I moved to UK and started to earn money in GBP....I totally lost track how much I spend on dolls. Maybe that's for the best @_@

I have kept a general idea of how much I've spent on the hobby. It's not that pretty. ._. But I consider the fact that I've sold a lot of my dolls/items the last two years and that makes it a little less overwhelming.

Heck no!!!! I think that would be such a bad idea Sometimes I walk into my hobby room and I start to go there and just yell NO, no no no - My innocent hopes and dreams will be crushed if I do that!!
