Please help me! Question about Manaka Komaki.

I just got my Manaka in the mail a few minutes ago, and her head is very loose and floppy... I tried to see if perhaps it was not on properly... And to my surprise there were spring like things inside of her neck. I've never seen this before. My oldest DD is Sasara Kusugawa, and her neck has nothing like that.

 

I was scared to keep pulling to see what it was because I've never seen this before and I didn't want to break her or something. I don't think I've even run across it online in photos... If I did I completely forgot about it.

 

I'd really appreciate any help anyone can give me about this. Thank you!

hmm.. Manaka is one of the older DD2 models, so she could be with the earlier head joints that were easier to damage when removing the head, and failing to pinch the neck properly in the process.

 

I think driflooncazzies Tsubaki had this type of accident.

 

Although, there should be just one spring holding the ribbed pin (that the head attaches to), towards to base of the joint.

 

Readily available replacement for the inner frame neckpiece can be had from Cool cats.

Thank you for your help! Unfortunately I think that her neck joint/spring is probably broken... Which sucks, because Mandarake listed her as not used/new. -__- Hopefully they will do something about this. She also had a stain on her head which they failed to photograph and mention at all... And now I find out her neck spring is most likely damaged or completely broken. Her head doesn't hold up, it just flops back down.

All of the old dd and mdd bodies have springs in the neck joint. If care was not taken when removing the heads , the springs can be stretched out and will not go back to the original form. This happened to me when I was a dd noob yeeeears ago.

 

You will need a new joint.

Thank you for your help and confirming it. I have contacted Mandarake and hopefully they will give some sort of partial refund since she was supposed to be brand new and never used... And her neck is broken and she has a stain. -_- Then I can hopefully get a new neck joint from Cool Cat. They are $30 right now so that is good at least.
