First ever DD face-up all the way to the present! 6/30/2014

Hello!

 

EDIT: I've added and will be trying to keep this thread updated with all DD works I complete. ^^ For the most part, they will be in order from oldest to newest in this first post. Any that I've done and aren't pictured, I just wasn't able to locate the images.

 

I have been doing resin BJD face-up commissions for about 5 years now and mentioned I was looking for a DD practice head. A couple local clients sent me their heads. ^^

 

I'm very happy with the results, but I definitely need some more practice.

 

As per my terms, I send an approval photo to the owner before the glossing stage.

Right now I'm waiting for the MSC to fully dry before glossing. I'll post another photo when that's all done.

 

Materials:

ZM Acrylics

ZM Thinner

Rembrandt Pastels

MSC flat

 

 

First DD Face-up.

EDIT: 2nd Face-up! Client wanted pretty much the same look as the other one I did, but a bit darker color tone and with a natural sprinkle of freckles. I'm struggling with eyebrows quite a bit. :/

I'm good at them for regular face-ups, but these I'm finding to be much more difficult.

 

Please let me know what you guys think and what I can improve!

I know my lines are a tad shakey currently, but that's why I want more practice before offering these as a normal thing in my shop.

I would love any sort of tips for the acrylic lines as well!

EDIT:

I believe this was my third one.

 

Forth?, this one had a lot of staining around the eyes and forehead and required me to airbrush the entire head back to the original WS tone. I happened to have another WS DD on my table at the time and the match ended up being about 98%. The owner was very pleased.

 

Fifth

 

Sixth, I think.

 

Seventh.

This client really wanted a more soft look, no harsh lines you'd get from acrylic. I really liked this technique.

 

Eighth. Another request for that soft look.

I think she looks great! I don't have an artistic bone in my body, sadly, so I can't offer any suggestions on techniques, but I really good think she looks like an amazing start. I love the warmth of her blushed cheeks.

The owner did send eyes with her, but no sort of putty and I don't have any spare amount lying around.

I'll ask her if she can take a photo of her with the eyes in and such once she get's home. ^^

I've updated the thread with all of my DD works I could locate the images of at this time.

 

I'll be updating this thread periodically, but it will always show my first DD face-up all the way to my most recent.

But somehow the empty eyeholes are a bit distracting.

I'd like to see the next heads with eyes, if possible
