Yuzuki from Chobits (help)

Recommended Posts

darkrevyhyde

I need a little bit of help, i want my dollfie to look like Yuzuki from Chobits. I find her so adorable, but im having a hard time finding a wig that is a nice blue color, not an aqua...it doesnt have to be the twin braids she uses, it can just be long blue hair with bangs. but i cant find one that isnt mohair or a different color.

And i also want a cute maids outfit or the color scheme of white and black, if anyone could give me any suggestions i would appreciate it.

Wigs2Dolls has a sort of lavender-blue color that could possibly work. (Though it takes some digging through their color chart to find it--layout's a bit weird on their site.)

Even better, they've got some long twintail wigs that appear to not be stubbed, so you could take them down and turn them to braids and take advantage of the part.

I really do love Yuzuki; she's a great character. I look forward to seeing her put together! So, have you decided on a head for her yet?

omg thats awesome, i was able to find the color swatches. I found some wigs on Miruya, but the blue was a really light periwinkle blue and i was looking for something a bit darker so this is perfect. I was planning on getting a dd3 yukino since it would be a good starting point but knowing i can possibly do the face up myself, im going to get a dd2 with yukinos head. It will save me a few hundred so it works better. Im trying to think if i should get a white skin or normal...my full plan is to have to 2 girls, one modeled after yuzuki (which that will be her name) and another which ill save for, a dd3 named Kurenai...i want them to be something like fraternal twins lol

Nice! I can see an 03 making a good Yuzuki. I really do like that head, actually. Have you figured out what eyes you want to get her?

As for skin tone, it's probably a personal interpretation thing, but I do think white skin would be pretty striking against the blue hair. Downside is that if you want Kurenai to be normal skin down the line, they can't share hands. (My two NS girls are swapping hands all the time, lol.)

Yeah Yuzuki has a very shy, calming personality, so it works and i might get eyes from twin snow, ive seen some blue eyes from their jewel collection category and they look pretty striking. I might want to get normal skin for now since looking at pictures of yuzuki, her skin isnt too pale. so normal would work pretty well. Im comparison shopping right now for everything and making a check list lol do you know what paints and pastels might be best? i wanted to get some from volks but i might stick to liquitex

Actually, I've heard Volks paints are very similar to Liquitex, and may actually be Liquitex re-bottled, so sticking with them is fine. Pastels I have no clue; my mom paints pastel landscapes, so I just sort of mooch hers. It's the sealer you have to be really careful with. Volks Zokeimura Powder Spray, and Mister Super Clear Matte are both safe, but stay away from Testor's Dull Cote--it reacts really badly with vinyl and makes a nasty, sticky mess. (I know there's a third spray that people have had some success with, but for the life of me I can't remember right now.)

By the way, you may want to hold off on ordering from Twin Snow. According to one of the threads in Group Orders, they've kind of dropped off the map for some reason and stopped responding. The group leader even opened a dispute. Hopefully they'll come back, because they have lovely designs, but better to wait for a bit and see how that plays out.

If they *don't* come back, or you want something even more accurate to the Chobits art, you could try Ersa Flora, or try thel Pupa Paradise D.Eye.Y bases. Ersa Flora takes custom orders, and the D.Eye.Ys would allow you to make the eyes yourself.

So i might stick with volks paint, im working right now on such a tight budget it seems lol but it wont stop me. i have an art kit with acrylics and pastels and an entire mess of stuff that i havent used since i got it for xmas but im not sure on the quality and how good it may react with the vinyl. ive heard that mr super clear uv cut isnt good since it may yellow the vinyl, so im a bit afraid of that so i may stick with the zm powder spray.

and omg that sucks, hopefully twin snow does bounce back, ive seen alot of eyes that are very cute but ersa flora is awesome too and theres alot to choose from. thanks for having patience with me and i appreciate it, theres only so much to look up online and it helps to get info from those who already have experience.

Actually, my Obitsu's faceup is sealed with Testor's. I've never had any issues with it, actually, her face is still as lovely as when I first sealed it, and it didn't have a weird reaction at all. You can also find it in big box hobby stores, which makes it a little more available than MSC which can take weeks to restock at retailers or paying the $15 shipping from Volks to get their spray.

Your mileage may vary, though. If you want to be absolutely safe go for the MSC and Zoukeimura spray, but Testor's is safe for vinyl use.

Liquitex is a fantastic acrylic brand, acrylic craft paint can also be used, but you just wont get the same quality of application and color as you would with more expensive paints. I've also heard great things about Rembrandt pastels, but I personally just use the Michaels brand pastels and I've never had an issue with them, they can be very vibrant, and they come in a box set that comes with bookoos of colors. Just make sure that they are chalk pastels and not oil. Also if you like, you can use watercolor pencils for faceups as an addition to or alternative to acrylic. Don't forget to seal the head with your chosen sealant before starting any work!

Oh she will be so cute! She is one of my favorite characters.

Maybe watch out for LeekeWorld's preorders? They have done some darker blues in the past, I think during winter months. So keep your eyes out on their page every month or so n_n
