Volks News 55

Aarg! That Dollfie World scan of the Miku page is too small to read many of the details! Hopefully now that it's out Volks will be updating her page soon.

 

Some of the outfits are cute, but I'm not sure if I'll be going for any-the IM@S vampire sets for example. The Ladies' Maid Set reminds me of the Lady Vampire Set, so while I'll be passing on the new one it may be a good option for people who missed out on the latter. Think the only outfit I'm truly tempted by is the MSD-size knit set, since I think it'd look cute on Homura when I get her together, but as I need funds for both her and Miku I'll probably pass on that too.

 

Also, what is with that penguin suit? If anyone gets it, we need to team up to make and send them a "PenPen" collar to go with it.

 

And yeah, I agree, issue does feel "thin". Hopefully it's just that Dollfie World didn't scan or post everything?

I counted in Volks 54 and there were 60 odd pages of doll stuff. That included info on the cruises though and the DWC finalists. But it also had the Akihabara festival and Dolpa. There's, from the scans, a suggestion that there will be a Touhou thing on October 13th, but it still feels like we're missing 3-4 scans somehow... If we aren't, and this is it for the next few months, then my wallet is happy.

 

EDIT: This may actually be it... Looking at 50, which was the last fall issue, there wasn't much other than the collection, a description of the new wigs, the DD festival outfits and the new standard dolls. So, that would mean this one fits neatly into that spread of info.

There are some outfits that I definitely want. I adore the winter clothing for SDs with their knitwork and cute patterns. Also love the pink nurse outfit. Will they be on sale for a limited time?

Does anyone know if it mentions whether Miku is pay on order or pay after realese in the issue? There's a two page spread about her but I can't read Japanese so that doesn't help me too much.

It looks like they will finally release 05 and 07 as standard heads! And all the heads will be available in all 3 skin tones. But, I wonder why the bodies are only NS? How can I get a head in SWS and then not have a SWS body to go with it??

edit: do my eyes deceive me on the price of the assembled base bodies? Hooray, less money spent than assembling one myself, and no work.

Really thought they might have something in there about the Xenosaga pre-orders o.O Hope they give a little warning.

I have Chihaya coming so I think I'll be attempting to get the vampire set for her ^-^

Also Alice's accessories would be nice although I can't help but feel they should've been included in the first place? Not sure what to make of the Penguin suit! XD

I really like the Vampire set! I have never gone after any of the Volks event outfits before... That outfit might change that. Those wool sets are nice too!

 

This might be a stupid question, when do these outfits come out? and how do I get them lol?

Let's face it, that vampire set is meant for Iori. I'm going to try to grab the S bust version if I can, seeing how Iori is bound to be S or even SS, and I'll enter the lottery for her, should Volks release her, or Yayoi, one day

I see Volks is releasing the same outfits as worn by their Cool Kyoto 2012 MSD Co-ordinates, of which I own a Tsubaki girl.

Heh, those Vampire dresses are basically the same as the Swallowtail Maid sets, same hoop styled skirt. At least you get cool gloves and bat shoes with it. Maybe a Bat Phone to call Commissioner Gordon too?

 

I'm glad to hear they finally started to sell bodies already put together, the whole "Build A Bear" DD concept sucked. It's also nice to see ALL the heads will be made available for purchase, I know that will make a lot of people happy!

 

As for the other stuff, WHY does Volks keep selling accessories for specific girls separately? I saw they have a pendant and bird for Alice that SHOULD have been sold with her. Why sell them by themselves? I know, I know, it makes them more money. But come on! That's just mean Volks. Quit being money grubbers!

 

I do think the DD Nurse sets are cute even tho I won't go for them. The one nurse set I owned was used twice and that's it. I thought I'd use it way more than I did so I know these wouldn't get used often either.

 

So I'm totally safe with all this stuff, nothing I want whatsoever. Not that I could afford anything anyway.

I took a look at it, and yeah, it sounds like they will rerelease some Touhou dolls at the event (it sounds like whatever they sell at the event, that's it, but I'm not familiar with Volks' way of selling stuff). There'll also probably be a new Touhou release to be announced/displayed at the event. They are just hinting at it, but why hint if that's not the case, right?

Touhou event is only in Osaka >_<. It's a Touhou-only goods market (convention) that Volks is electing to participate in. Previous Touhou DDs will be available for limited sale at the event - which ones aren't specified - and there will be new Touhou items also for sale. Of course, for now it's just a tease without details.

 

My VN55 came in the mail today. Really digging that Miku cover. I can answer questions about the contents. Some I remember off the top of my head:

 

*There are indeed more wigs revealed for the upcoming year's lineup. They are mostly various short-hair styles.

*The sweater-dresses are part of the October outfit collection, released the same day as the DD Gathering.

*For people that asked how to buy the clothes, please see the Purchasing FAQ.

 

There's another page of photos of My Dear Vampire that hasn't been scanned yet. The gals are sitting on my favorite couch, Gothic Wing Chair, so it's almost like the outfit is already home .

 

EDIT: Looking through some of the rest of the magazine, here are some other interesting tidbits.

 

*DD Miku will be in SS-bust

*The white "Frill Skort" (Y998) will become a TnK Standard item, always available.

*Starting in October, there will be a new series of DD3 busts - same sizes as current - but with the armholes completely cut out like DD2's were. This is to make dolls look better in sleeveless outfits. Much like how the deka-hands and normal hands are both available, both new style and old style busts will be sold.

*The VS/VIP Orderable Goodie is the DDH-06 2011 Pre-done Makeup Version. There will be a rerelease of the normal-skin head, and a new release with the same makeup but in semi-white.

*Next Dolpas will be Tokyo 30 (22 December) and Kyoto 10 (9 March).

*There are indeed more wigs revealed for the upcoming year's lineup. They are mostly various short-hair styles.

Cool.. SakuraSylph, wanted to ask about the bodies, did they mention anything if the bodies will be available in semi-white as well? Or just normal skin? :S

OMG another run of Sakuya Izayoi?

All blank heads and body parts will be available in semi-white. The fully-assembled bodies will be normal-skin only though at least for now.

 

With Reimu and Izayoi being pictured, it sure does imply that at least those two will be rereleased. Though maybe all four girls will be, who knows! More details will surely come out within the next month before the event.

See, I've always thought when we reached 55, they should make a spin off of it with SS (they look sort of alike, especially in certain fonts...), and supply us some really nice Nazi-inspired uniforms. I'd be all over them in a heartbeat, and I'm still pinning for the day they come out with very pretty military uniforms not only for the boys, but for their girls. Alas, they aren't in my head so I'm still waiting.

Volks doesn't strike me as a company who would do something as hugely divisive as that. So I would expect you'll be waiting a long time.

I think I need the penguin outfit. I don't know what its from, but it looks enough like the Suica logo to me to justify getting it.
