Fantasy or Natural Hair Colours for your DD?

So I'm trying to work out what hair colour I want for my Dollfie Dream girls and I'm having a tough time deciding! For most my resin dolls I usually stick to natural colours (unless they're a fantasy critter), but with my DD girls I feel like I can be a bit more adventurous, and that the sky's the limit when it comes to anime hair! But then I get worried about staining and such and fall back to "safe" neutral colours! I really like how DD's look in natural coloured wigs, but also I love crazy rainbow hair!

 

Tell me, what do you like for your Dollfie Dreams? Do you go for far-out anime hair? Or do you love natural, realistic shades and styles? Got a preferred wig-maker? Or any photos?

I actually like a bit of both! I think DDs can look great in any color wig. Blonde, red, green or purple. The sky really IS the limit.

You know, the other option is to choose a "natural color" that is not really common naturally looking. For example, I have yet to see a blond that was as gold as my Arisa's coolcat "yellow-brown" color. There are also blonds that are practically crayon yellow available:

 

 

 

Also, you don't see many natural red head that are these colors:

Strawberry blonds are also pretty darn rare in reality, but they do happen. I have a friend who is one. I hate her for it. :3

Out of my eight completed girls, I have three with natural colors, two with colors that are close but not quite to natural colors, and three with fantasy colors. The two that are close but not quite are black (ink black) and red (bright red). Both appear more like a color that you can dye your hair rather than a naturally occurring version.

 

I was originally a bit afraid of dark/bright colors because of staining. But that was before I learned about all the other companies that make wigs with neutral wig caps, like Crobidoll and Leeke. I love being able to use fantasy colors on these girls even without them being fantasy creatures, simply because in anime anything goes.

 

I don't really have any rationale as to who gets regular or fantasy colors though. I just try on wigs til I find one that looks good. Then that wig becomes theirs, and I can't imagine them any other way.

I'm up for either, really. It's more color "temperatue", or hue range, that dictates what my current girls wear, rather than physical plausibility. Agatha and Nanoha are both *very* much warm tone girls. Also, Nanoha looks like a doofus in blond, so right now her two main wigs are both a plausible red color. Agatha's got a fairly natural long blond wig, and a very cartoony yellow-orange wig.

 

Bets are probably going to be off with the two new girls on my list though. Miku's designed to look good with turquoise hair, so she'll probably also look good in blues, greens, and some cooler-toned purples. Homura I've got no idea on, since she doesn't even have a faceup or her proper eyes yet, but I'll definitely be trying her with blue and purple just in case.

 

Basically, it's whatever they look good in.

I gotta admit that with my DD, her hair is more adventurous than my BJDs. I feel like she can get away with crazy hair so I've ordered her a mix of colourful and natural looking wigs.

I like natural colours more, but I will try fantasy colours now that I've fallen in love with monique gold collection wigs that are made of synthetic mohair. It feels more like soft real hair than Volks's wigs. Just a week more and I will see how pink, lime green, pale blue and orange works with my DDs

 

I literally laughed for a solid minute at this XD I love that commercial.

 

ANYWAY, I have a pretty even split ratio of odd colors to real colors. I do tend to lean toward natural colors and more specifically, natural blonde colors because I'm blonde myself. I like seeing limited sculpts from anime with natural colored wigs too for some reason. I guess it's just nice seeing the characters look more "realistic".

 

I bought some wigs from this site and they were surprisingly really nice. Plus, it's cheaper to buy stuff located in the US to save on shipping

I like fantasy colors mostly Especially pink, white, grey, and teal. I wasn't keen on getting anything in brown or black for my DDs, but recently I got a powder brown Crobi wig and a black/brown short wig that look really great on Shia. For my resin bjds, I tend to gravitate towards black hair for some reason ^_^; Though I have fantasy colors like red and grey for them too.

I have a mix of natural & fantasy color hair among my 5 girls. It just depends on the girl really~ For some of them I instantly knew what color hair they would have and for others I had to test the wigs I had before deciding on something. I have a "default" color for each of my girls, but I still play around with other color wigs on them for fun All the wigs I have are either from Miruya, Leekeworld, or Volks.

I think it depends on the doll, but DDs do lend themselves more towards the more fun, brighter colors because of their anime look. It's a little harder for a resin BJD to pull off a colorful wig, unless they're stylized (like an SQ Lab) I personally think rainbow-colored wigs are cuter, especially on a sweet-faced girl, as long as you take proper care to protect her from staining I think you could have her wear whatever wig you like!

I like fantasy colors more often just because DDs are anime gals, and they're not really realistic like resin dolls are. I want my cartoon gals to go all out with unrealistic hair colors.. XD

That being said, I do have a few blondes and browns that I do fancy too.

Well, two of my girls have white hair with dark skin so that's pretty fantasy, but the eldest girl has dark skin and black hair that is more natural. Depends on the girl. I want to get a girl with absurdly long blue or purple hair at some point XD

For me, it all depends on the girl or character. I have a few girls with fantasy colors for hair, mostly blue since I *love* blue haired girls. But I also have a few with purple hair and some with gray or silver. But I'd say over half of my girls have normal colors for hair like blonde, brunette or red.

 

I like all sorts of colors on DD's but like I said before, it really depends on the character or girl as to whether she needs/wants realistic or fantasy colored hair.

From what I can see most are agreed that it depends on the Girl/Character. all Errors family have fantasy hair since there storyline is fantasy. are other girls (my fiancés girls) have natural hair colours.

I have black hair but I do love a fantasy color on the wig too

 

When I saw Rainbow wig "i very love it but I don't know how my girl and what outfit that I have fit it"

So just now have natural color only ( Brown and Black ), in future will have more color on it

I think its all down to the skin tone!

Girls with natural skin suit natural hair and in some instances darker fantasy colours, whereas I prefer semi-white or white skin girls with either pale fantasy or dark fantasy colours!

Natural, but color is fun
