Haruka visits Texas (part 2)

Haruka visits Falfurrias where my paternal grandparents' ranch and maternal grandparents' old house are located.

 

 

 

There isn't a lot to see on the way from Corpus Christi to Falfurrias.

Behind the house are orange trees.

 

The oranges have to be harvested before the freezes start.

 

This orange looks like a beach ball.

 

Behind the backyard of the main house is lots of land where cattle and goats used to roam. The animals are gone now. Two years ago, Grandma sold the last chicken (who was mean and always tried to peck her).

 

These fruits look like oranges, but they are extremely sour. They taste good in iced tea.

 

 

There are lots of abandoned appliances around the ranch.

 

There is even more stuff inside.

The only animals left are pet kitties and a doggy.

 

Here is the last doggy, Charlie. He is a really sweet doggy. Grandma sometimes inherits puppies for while before Uncle Joe finds new homes for them. She says they are so much trouble but she actually really likes them. She gets a little lonely when they are adopted. Puppies are pretty cute and easy to get attached to. Grandma always has kittens around to cheer her up.

After harvesting the oranges and lemons at my maternal grandparents' old house, we went to Whataburger. There aren't any in Minnesota, so it is fun to go there. Then it is time to head back to Corpus Christi.

Such cool photos! I really REALLY like the farm pics! Seeing all the random things left to rot was really cool. I think it's neat to see what things get left behind and how they react to being left out in the elements. They sure make interesting backdrops.

 

Haruka looks good in a blue wig! And her outfit is so cute! I think that's a Cool Cats setup maybe? And is that a backpack she has on? I can't really tell but those wide pink straps looked like one. And where did you get that camera? I really want a camera for my girls to share. I don't really want to drop $80-$100 for one of those nice Canon USB ones tho....

 

That chili pepper lighted tree made me smile wide! That's so Texas!

 

So nice of you to share Haruka's adventures with us. I can't wait to see what she finds next!

Thanks! The old stuff disintegrating in the Texas sun is really fascinating somehow - like a Twilight Zone episode. You are right; her outfit is from Cool Cats.

Thank you SOOOO much Terri for posting those links! I already went and bought that camera off ebay since they only had one left in stock. Under 7 bucks with shipping is a big win!

 

I haven't done anything with the backpack just yet but I hadn't seen that site before. It has some cool stuff there! I'll dig thru that sometime tonight or tomorrow when I get more time.

Oh yeah! Now I know why the "My Twinn" name sounded so familiar! Very cool. I didn't get the chance to check it last night but I know I will tonight. I'm at work now ( not working obviously ) and they said we will probably bail out around noon or one since we are off tomorrow. That should give me time to do one last photoshoot before Xmas with my girls and also get some online looking around done that I have been meaning to.

 

Speaking of shoots, when do we get to see more of Sarge?
