Once upon a Zombie - Princess Zombies / Monster High

Recommended Posts

Personally, I think the production art is AMAZING and makes me want all the dolls, but when you actually look at the dolls itself, it falls very short. I think the issue is that the art is Princess Zombies, but the dolls are too much like Monster high style.

Don't get me wrong, Monster high dolls have a certain charm, but I'd rather they had tried to mold the heads closer to the production art style >~<

What are your thoughts?

I have to agree. The art does look better. Personally the dolls remind me of a Monster high - Living dead dolls crossing.

The fabric on the dolls seems like cheap Halloween costume

What's with all the monster girls lately :/ What I'd love is a more unique monster doll, like satyr or a harpy or something. But I much prefer the style and quality of BJDs, so I'd rather see someone's amazing custom BJD than a mass produced fashion doll.

I also agree, the production art looks better than the produced dolls. I like the idea actually and these remind me more of the Bratzillaz dolls than MH. Monster High (Mattel) is getting a lot of competition now. So many different companies are producing their own similar dolls (monsters, fairy tales). When MH first came out I was sure it wouldn't last. I assumed little girls would be afraid of the dolls, I was really proven wrong.

I liked the idea of Monster high dolls but held off buying them until more info came out.

Then i discovered bratzillaz, their style and glass eyes made me choose them instead

glad i did, because i am totally turned away by the body style of the MH dolls. The awkward arching on the spine >,<

please, no debates about Monster high was copied by Bratzilllaz blah blah.

Anyway back to ouaz, ive seen a image of ouaz compared to MH and theyre a bit wider/thicker in the waist arms etc but no news yet what they look lile side on.... =__=

They don't even look like zombies. Since when did zombies have stitches and bandages? What doctor operates on the shambling corpses of the undead? "Oh my, Rapunzel, please stop trying to eat my brains, I've got to finish these perfectly symmetrical stitches around your mouth." Where are the gaping wounds, the rotting flesh, the crusted blood? They are so... neat and clean.

They look like Frankenstein's monster, which for me is very different from a zombie.

I suppose they didn't want to take it to the extreme. MH's Ghoulia is a zombie with no wounds or bad scarring. She just has light blue (grey?) skin. OOAK dolls are your best bet if you want something really creative and/or gruesome.

Here are a few I found on Ebay. There are many more but these girls caught my eye.

I've always assumed Ghoulia was the non-infectious type of zombie -- the undead that are raised by dark magic (e.g., "voodoo") -- which makes it logical that she doesn't have rotting flesh or gaping wounds. She also doesn't have stitches, which matches the voodoo-type zombie. The MH character with undead skin color and stitches? Frankie. Frankenstein's monster.

I guess I'm just annoyed that these seem to be Frankie copy-cats, hiding behind the word "zombie," when they don't look zombie-like at all. They really should be called Frankenstein Princesses. Once Upon a Frankenstein. Zappily Ever After.
