Stains finally got removed!

Well, kind of.

 

Back in March of this year, I was able to finally get a Volks outfit I'd been after for a very long time. I was super excited to get it and immediately gave it to Mai to try out. And she looked gorgeous in it too:

Or so I thought.... it seems that I was lulled into a false sense of security with this outfit because even tho it was lined in white inside the top, it still stained Mai badly. I made the mistake of leaving this on her for close to a week without checking her for stains. And this is what her bust looked like after that week:

It was pretty sickening to see how dark and deep these stains were. I felt so bad for Mai too.... but I did have a spare bust for her so I swapped it with this one and started doing stain treatments on it using the Oxy10 method.

 

After an entire month, the dark stains on her breasts and back of the neck weren't going away hardly at all. All the smaller and lighter stains were gone but those remained. I was almost resigned to throwing this bust away but I didn't because I figured it may come in handy for testing fabrics or outfits in the future.

 

Skip forward to 2 months ago. I decided that instead of having the warm lamp and Oxy10 on this bust every day like I had previously done for an entire month, I just applied Oxy10 on it and let it sit in the kitchen where sunlight comes in during the day. All I did was put on the Oxy10 and then leave it for 3 days. After the third day, I would clean off the dried Oxy10, reapply it and let the bust sit again for another 3 days. I did this for TWO MONTHS and finally got the dark stains to almost completely clear up.

 

Here's some photos of the bust after those 2 months of leaving Oxy10 on and the full month of doing DAILY treatments with a lamp and Oxy10.... so 3 months total.

From the front it looks like all the stains are now gone. But there *are* still remnants on the left breast in the following picture. It's a super faint brownish line the goes from the top of the nipple up about an inch to the top left of the breast.

You can barely make it out in that pic above. I can see it because I know it's there but I'm not sure how easily seen it will be once on a girl and with clothes on.

 

Here are pics of the sides of the torso. As you can see, all the smaller stains are now gone, including the ones on the sides of the boobs and the tops of the shoulders.

And the back of the torso. There is a TINY faint mark at the center of the nape of the neck, just between the shoulder blades. It's super small and faint tho.

So even tho this took a REALLY long time to do, it does work to use Oxy10 even on the darkest, nastiest stains I've ever seen. So if you're wondering if Oxy10 can clean up your girls issues, with some time and patience, it certainly can!

Wow, that set really was a stain monster. But I gotta say, this is a GREAT example for those people who are freaked out by staining! This really shows that stains CAN be fixed.

Don't say never sir! I've only had a few Volks items stain my girls and all were caught in time to get cleaned up quickly. It just seems that Volks stuff has more possibility to stain than other brands do. Not ALL of their stuff stains, some things that really look like they will don't. They're odd like that. I totally understand why you'd say that you won't ever buy your girls Volks clothes tho, it's easy to avoid them and save some money.

I know and it sucks that it did such massive stains! I really did think that I had no worries since it was lined in white. Shows what I know. I won't trust another Volks lined set in this kind of material again!

 

But yeah, what you said above is why I did this post.... I wanted people to know that with some time and attention, almost any stain can be treated and made to disappear. Not everyone can have their girl in pieces for months on end but if you get a replacement part and then treat the stained one, you'll have a clean spare for later. Or you can just do a small daily treatment for 3-4 hours and leave your girl intact. Either way stains CAN be eliminated!

Yeah, they were so bad that I really didn't think they'd ever come out. Luckily they did so now I have a clean bust for a spare if I need it.

Thanks! It turned out a lot better than I figured it would. If I hadn't have had a spare bust for Mai to use while doing these treatments, I don't know how long it would have taken or if I would have just ordered a new one and tossed this one out of frustration. I'm just glad it worked out and that I could show people that you CAN save a stained DD part if you give it time.

Man, those were some heinous stains, Billy! Poor Mai! Good job, though. It's amazing how well the bust cleaned up.

 

It would have been amusing for anyone who passed your kitchen window and saw a small set of large boobs sitting there.

Thanks Linda! The stains *were* bad for sure, I'm still amazed they cleaned up like they did. And even tho no one can see into my kitchen from outside ( the windows are in the backyard which is fenced in ) it would still be funny for someone to see a small rack sitting there with Oxy10 smeared all over it.

Thank you! You're welcome too. I really do wish Volks would pay more attention to materials and how they can stain but I really don't think they care at all. They seem to be fine with just putting a small warning on every outfit saying it MIGHT stain so proceed at your own risk.

My older body has a few minor stains I might give this a try.

Currently on a stain removal process... Unfortunately I can´t leave the piece taking sun when I am not at home... But seeing this post give me a lot of hope for my Alter....

 

Pity she is stained on both sides, it makes difficult to aply the cream at the same time in both areas...

Don't worry about having it in the sun all the time while you're not home. The bust above was only in direct sunlight for maybe 45 minutes max during the day, the rest of the time it was just in the kitchen sitting on top of the microwave. So you should be fine just leaving it out in the open while you're not home, it will just take more time like mine did.

 

Also, my bust had stains on the front and back and the sides of the boobs so I couldn't have direct light on all of those spots at the same time either. But it still cleaned up just fine.... you should be good to go as well.

I guess mine will take more time, cause mine product is only 5% of benzoil.... But it is working.

That was EXTREME staining !! I'm glad it came out ..well most of it .We can't really see any stain left on the pictures so you made a really good job

 

 

I'll say! I'd NEVER seen stains like this, even Saber Maid set stains didn't look this weird or deep. It's really hard to see that stain left on the right breast but I know it's there so it will bug me a bit. But it's still a good spare part to have in case I get something staining my girls again. Oh jeez, I have never seen stains like that before. I can't believe that I haven't seen this post before now. I'm glad that you were able to fix Mai's bust though. Like you said, I remember seeing the posts people made on the Saber maid outfit and they weren't even that bad.

Yeah, these stains almost look like they had black liquid poured onto the bust, it was crazy. But this does show that almost ANY stain can be cleaned given enuff time and care. I'm sure some of those Saber Maid girls got cleaned up like this too, it just took a long time to do it.

Oxy10...I'm thinking that's acne medication? I need to remember that. I typically pick an outfit and leave it on pretty much forever (I'm new to the DDs and have only had resin dolls til now, partly because of this issue), so I'm sure I'll wind up staining some dollies at some point. Good to know!

You're correct, Oxy10 *is* an acne medicine. I usually get mine from Walmart for about $2.50 a tube. This bust took TWO full tubes to clean up tho so normal small stains won't take near as much. There are a few great threads in the "Care and Repairs" section about how to treat stains with Oxy10. If you have any issues in the future, be sure to read those. It's an easy fix but can take time to clean all stains off, especially if they're deep or dark.

Yep! I've seen this happen as well. Once you wipe off the Oxy10 from the surface, the bit that seeped into the vinyl keeps working. And yeah, the first time I saw those stained I almost cried. Good thing I kept this bust and decided to try out the long term treatments.
