Whats your experience with Remove-Zit?

Recommended Posts

I'm amazed at well it remove stains. When I got my first girl, I made many mistakes with redoing her face-up. One part was the lips, i gave her some nice red lips and made a mistake and ended up giving her a Joker face. I immediately got a Q-tip dipped in Mr Tool Cleaner and started rubbing the area, it removed the paint, however i think the cleaner made the red pigment stain the vinyl. Now I only use rubbing alcohol and magic sponge, and thinner and brush for the hard to reach areas.

I have used Oxy10 several times (weeks) on that area and it couldn't fully remove the stained area. I tried Remove-Zit for a few days and it has removed stains completely. My only issue with Remove-Zit, is that the treated areas is slightly raised, which the instructions said it might cause the vinyl to swell and it will recover after time. How long, i do not know. So i treated the whole face with Remove-Zit, rather than having a weird looking face.

Now all i have to do is give Kaori a new face-up.

I have not tried Remove Zit yet. I haven't been able to find any locally so I just use Oxy10. From what I read and hear from others, Oxy10 seems to take longer to get deep or dark stains out than RZ does.

But recently, all I've been hearing from people using RZ is that it's causing the vinyl to "puff up" and look weird. Whether it does this all the time or not, I have no clue. But I wouldn't want anything to happen to my girls like that so I'll opt to only use Oxy10 if I need to.

What type faceup will you give Kaori this time around? Anyhting really different from her previous one or will it be similar?

Not sure, i'm just using her for practicing my paint brushing. I want to improve and give her nice face-up. I need to practice doing fine strokes. I see so many good face-ups that i would do, but don't have the skills. But with all these failures, i have learnt a better way of doing the face-up in a shorter time. If i don't like it i just redo it the next day.

I bought a second-hand MDD body a month ago and it came with some minor staining all over the legs, ankles and feet.

I did a 3 treatments of Remove-Zit, ranging from 12-24 hrs and after the final treatment I wiped her down with isopropyl alcohol and a non-acetone nail polish remover to try to remove the weird "waxy" residue. I'd say the stains were 90% gone. I knew I hadn't completely removed every last trace of the Remove-Zit since I could still smell a faint odor of bleach on the doll. I was in a rush to take the doll out to my sister's so I just dressed her and took the doll out.

Today I was playing with her and still smelled a faint bleach-y odor, so I took Wolfheinrich's tip and wiped her down with a wet cleaning wipe (I asked him if he'd used the Formula 9-1-1 sold by Twin Pines and he told me he'd ordered it, but never used it yet; and to use a cleaning wipe!). I also noticed today that the slight traces of staining are all gone since the tiny layer of Remove-Zit that I didn't clean off completely has still been working all this time!

I learned from talking to GabrielVH and hearing about his horrible incident with Remove-Zit to test the batch that I received first before slathering it all over the doll. (For those of you that don't know, he used it on his DD and the vinyl swelled up to form blisters. The swelling subsided but the texture where the "blisters" had been was completely different and would snag on doll clothes and stockings, so essentially the body was ruined.) I was lucky and had no weird swelling issues on my MDD body.

I recently used Remove-Zit for some bad stains on my Sakura's legs. I think it did a very good job.

It took about a week of me putting it on and then cleaning it and re-applying every 12-24 hours. I was lucky and didn't see any raised areas but I did notice the skin had a slightly different texture in that area - it seems it was temporary though and is just about normal now.

Like most people I got about 90-95% done and didn't finish her off. I was postponing her birthday photo shoot because of the stains so I wanted to get back to that.

I haven't tried Oxy10 but I do like the Remove-Zit - well, it does stink a bit when your putting it on but not that bad. If I remember to pick up Oxy10 sometime I'll try that as well.

I'm hoping to help my Yoko with her stains soon. I'm going to try to take some video of the process as well so people can see what it's like.

I've used RZ without any problems and my girls have come up clean.

My RZ came from Natalie @ DW, but @ $25, it's expensive for a small tub, that I have now finished

If i had a problem with RZ is that it's not avaible in the UK and you have to input your card details on the web site before you even find out what International Shipping.

I used OXY 10 and another brand with the same formula as O10 and this seems to work.

Down side to O10, is that you cannot buy it over the counter in the UK

I am also trying a Stain remover simular to RZ that is avaible in the UK as a gel to see how that works.

I would use RZ again if the tubs were bigger and if I could find out what international shipping would be before entering my details.

Hi

Doese anyone of you have more experiance with RZ?

And is it a must to use the formular 9-1-1 after it?

And can anyone explain how to use RZ right? ... Didnt find a "how do use"

Is it like cream? or more like soap? Should i put it on the vinyl for hours or for just some minutes? ...

I found luckily a german shop who sell it, but for arround 40€ i want to be sure to buy it ^^

... (maybe useful for other EU people?)

It is kind of a paste. The longer you leave it on, the more it works. I think the length of time depends on how deep the color has soaked into the vinyl. The manual says RZ leaves a non-water soluble petroleum jelly residue so Formula 9-1-1 is needed to completely remove it. I haven't tried not using the Formula 9-1-1.

From the website:

http://www.twinpines.com/Catalog.html?VT=iji_PFmz10eyjIi_aQ2iigqkDbpbcuKQ1VlA8Ib3fv&Tmp_CategoryID=00002

Directions:

Test first in a small area; then apply a thin coat of Remove-Zit with the flat end of a toothpick or a needle.

Keep away from painted and cosmetic features. Use a needle to apply Remove-Zit near cosmetic features like freckles.

Do not disturb for a day or so then lift off the spent Remove-Zit with a needle or the flat end of a toothpick. Re-apply as necessary.

Do not wash the area between applications. Remove-Zit is not water soluble; Formula 9-1-1 will remove it. Gently warming the stained area before application and keeping the doll in a warm place will help speed up the stain removing process.

Be aware that heat from a hair dryer could melt or deform the stained area. A vinyl skin doll, like a Whimsey, filled with cotton, kapock, foam, etc. should not be warmed by any means.

Remove-Zit was designed to remove stains from vinyl plastics. Tarn-X and other metal cleaners were made to use on metals. There is no problem using Remove-Zit after Tarn-X was used.

When removing green ear metal stain, if you remove the doll head, place the head with neck opening pointed up to allow fumes to escape. To reduce the possibility of losing eye or lip color when removing stains from the head or upper body of a doll or action figure, cover the painted cosmetic areas with petroleum jelly. The petroleum jelly can be removed or just wiped off later. Diluted Formula 9-1-1 will remove petroleum jelly residue.

Ok... Hmmm and for how much faces is it useable? How is your experiance? ... Dont mean a correct number of faces, just about it... So maybe just three or more than twenty? ^^

The standard container is quite big. You don't need to use much, so I think it would last for many faces (like you said more like 20) and even large surfaces of several bodies. It is thick like a paste so you don't even have to worry about spilling it.

Personally, I love Remove Zit. Looks and smells like paste. I used it to recover from two majorly botched outfit wearings, one being the infamous Saber Maid costume and the other being a Volks short black kimono that is equally horrible in staining. I have used it to clean up headcaps also. It works just fine on the newer soft ones.

I believe results only take a few days but I usually "set it and forget it" for a month. It dries up and cracks but this does not seem to affect anything. On my most recent use, I had to apply twice–it was "too effective" and the body had conspicuous clean spots after the first treatment. So I ended up treating the rest of the body so it would match.

I do have Formula 911. It smells like oranges and looks like dish soap. I use it only to wash off Remove Zit. Is it necessary compared to normal dish soap? I don't know, so I just played it safe.

One Remove Zit container probably contains enough to treat 3-4 entire bodies. It would last "forever" on just heads. No heat, light or covering is needed, only time. It stinks at first so ventilation would be good.

Personally, I have not noticed any visible swelling, but I do leave it on for a month minimum and wash with Formula 911. I have noticed a texture difference that returns to normal after 1-2 weeks. The paste smell lingers if you do not wash thoroughly.

I have not tried it on white skin. I would like to know if it works on tan-skinned Kanu. I've heard only vaguely that it doesn't work for both but would like to hear something more definite.

I use Clearasil acne cream on my Dollfie Dreams. http://www.clearasil.us/skincare-products/clearasil-daily-clear/daily-clear-vanishing-acne-treatment-cream You can find it at many stores like Walmart, grocery stores, drug stores, etc. I apply it on the stain and then put her under my desk lamp for heat. It has completely removed all my girls' stains. Does not hurt the dollfie's skin and does not cause any swelling.

I haven't had to treat any stains myself, but I believe what you are looking for is the "10% Benzoyl Peroxide" to life the stains so maybe brand isn't really important as long as it has the right ingredients?

Yep. For the most part, this is correct. The only difference I've come across is the color of the stuff inside the tube. I bought some off brand Oxy10 that was marked as "10% Benzoyl Peroxide" but instead of being the usual white color, it was muddy brown. I figured it wouldn't matter so I tried it out. For whatever reason, it didn't do anything. No change to the stain after 3 treatments of it. So needless to say I tossed that tube, found some that was white, and tried again. This time it worked out fine.

I have no idea why that happened but now I make sure to only buy the ones that have the white liquid inside.

Out of curiosity, did you use a cleaning wipe like Clorox with antibacterial stuff, more of a hand wipe like Wetones Sensitive Skin or more of a baby wipe (the kind that's flushable)? My Remove zit will be here today and I want to make sure the wipe won't hurt the doll.

as I wrote earlier, I bought OXY10 from this seller http://www.ebay.com/itm/121134094481?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I used it on the stains and leave for 4 days. Today I removed the remains of oxy and all stains disappeared! My Ami now as good as new

I've used Remove-Zit many times on my girls with no after affects on any of them so far. The only bad thing with Remove-Zit is it only lasts for about a year before it starts crystalizing and becoming basically useless.

As far as removing Remove-Zit, I use Goo Gone. Basically the same thing as the Formula 9-1-1, just cheaper and easily found in most stores here in the USA.

Being new to the hobby, I was wondering why people use Oxy10 vs Dream Rescue, then I saw the price and how much you get.  Looks like the Oxy10 is a better deal!

However, I was wondering if someone could tell me step-by-step how to get rid of stains using Oxy10?  Including what should I use to wipe off the Oxy10?  Should I worry about Miku's vinyl bubbling up or anything else that could damage her?  Is there anything newer than 2013 that has been found to be better for cleaning stains off of vinyl?  @onion35@

Any and all stain remover info would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Ryu
