Buying from Volks international and customs charges?

Recommended Posts

BynByn93

Heya (This question has probably been asked before, but I can't really seem to find much when I search the forum for this kind of thing.)

Does anyone have any experience with ordering a DD from the Volks International site, and if they have ever had to pay customs on the doll when it reaches your country?

I'm in the UK, and it'd be a great help to me if anyone knows if stuff from Volks gets charges. I've ordered things in the past from other places and it's been hit and miss whether or not I get charges >__<

The last thing I want is to spend $400+ and then get a nasty charge without being ready for it! ^__^

Thanks in advance.

I don't live there but I hear custom fees as a constant problem in the UK.

Yeah they are...I recently bought a doll body for $200 and had to pay about $75 worth of charges on top of it. So I don't really wanna pay double that without properly knowing if I'll get charged or not >__<

Well that majorly sucks . So I guess Volks declares all packages at full value then?

If there is anything I can help you out with, let me know.

There probably isn't much you could do

A friend of mine offered to get it from the Volks US site, get it delivered to her and ship it out to me as a gift...but stuff even marked as a gift over a certain amount (a DD is waaaay more than that), coming from outside of the EU, will still be liable for charges.

I calculated it and the charges for what I want would be about $122/£76.....

Imma cry T___T

I mean I have the money to get one...but I personally don't wanna throw all that money into a doll when I can save money possibly getting it 2nd hand or in parts (like head and body separate).

I miss having shiny, new, complete dolls arriving home, always seems to be parts nowadays with me >__< haha!

It's rare to get body parts 2nd hand but I will wish you luck.

What are you looking for in particular?

If I could, I'd like a DDH-03/Yukino 2nd ver. with the default faceup, but if I get her in parts that's unlikely to happen >__< So I guess a DDH-03 with a faceup that I like and a DDII medium bust body.

If I get a blank head then it's highly likely it'll have to be sent to the US for a faceup (there doesn't seem to be many people in the EU who do DD faceups). That is gonna work out a pretty penny too, what with shipping to the US+cost of faceup+shipping back to the UK+customs (which is again very likely).

I think the best I can do is order the head from here and send it to the custom faceup person for you to save a few pretty pennies.

True, still gotta find someone to do the faceup anyway, hehe.

What about if a friend bought it for you and shipped it out to you in pieces over time? I don't know if that would help reduce the charges or not.
