finnleo Posted September 28, 2013 Decided to do a quick shoot with some neglected ladies, and minorly neglected outfits. The main theme this time would be some china dresses i've gathered through the years, and we kick off with one of the oldest considering production: vintage-china001 Nagato was fitted with one Volks dress that is properly old, I believe barely double digit dollpa old. This is still probably the most China inspired of the bunch, since it only really features brocade fabric for the top, and a twine frog latch for the skirt, that hides under the top. vintage-china002 Its still a cute little number, although probably a bit breezy since the top is pretty much bare at the back since the shoulder straps lace the thing from top to bottom at the sides. vintage-china003 Haruhi gets something from the year 2005, of which I actually have two examples of. Originally baught for my 03-twins as a matching pair. vintage-china004 This is a little more like it, with the mini jacket taking more traditional shape, and slits on the side to let those thighs shine, but still it is more inspired than actual. vintage-china005 vintage-china006 vintage-china007 Audrey comes in with what could be considered my oldest outfit in my doll wardrobe. The long Azone china dress came in two main flavors, either long or short, and in three colors. vintage-china008 The white one is still the only one with a sheen to it. The Azone one still remains one of the actual correct looking Cheongsams out there, wich is a bit of a annoying thing since you cant get new ones anymore.. atleast very easy. vintage-china009 I've managed to get a red one, however im still missing a black one, to make up the "Melancholy-Trifecta". vintage-china010 The latest lady in the team gets the latest addition to this section, which is the matching Green set to the pink Volks china dress released back in 2005. vintage-china011 I had been after this set for some time, although the idea of getting it was long since put on a back-burner, but this summer one came along at a reasonable price, and it was snatched up. vintage-china012 Again its more china inspired, than actual, this time its quite sassy in appearance with the tube top, and pleated skirt, also the only set to come with thigh-highs as well... And finally a group shot with all the ladies involved: vintage-china000 Thank you for looking.

finnleo Posted September 29, 2013 oh wow your girls look lovely! I think I like the red and white ones best! they just looks so elegant and well made Thank you. Considering build quality the Azone one really stands out in this crowd due to its no nonsense approach, and only the zipper at the back stands out (so prefferred for long haired laidies I think). The red one is actually a bit rough when looking at it up close and personal, especially the hem of the skirt, but the top does distract from that very nicely. ArthuriaPen Posted September 29, 2013 I like the red one because of that transparent shawl(?) o(≧∇≦o) And the white one reminds me of Lili from Tekken. I don't know why tho. o.o
baldylox Posted September 29, 2013 I've always liked the look of the cheongsam dresses, they're classy, stylish and elegant. But as these pics prove, they can come in many shapes and styles too! I had NO clue Volks made those older versions you have, that's really cool. I think that last one that Mariko is wearing is my fave of those. She looks great in it. I was lucky enuff to get that same white Azone long cheongsam from Salica when I adopted Elisabeth from her two years ago. I love that dress because of the quality and sheen on it! It's one of my favorite outfits for sure. I also have one of the Azone short red/gold ones too and I nabbed it at the Azone store in Akiba when I was there in 2010. I wish I had a long version of that one as I love the color patterns on it. Thanks for sharing these pics, I never knew these outfits were out there.... goes to prove you learn something every day! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Thanks for sharing these pics, I never knew these outfits were out there.... goes to prove you learn something every day! Thank you, and eventhough all of these have China dress written on the bag, I still need to put some emphasis on perhaps more china inspired. But variation is still nice. I have a thing for mini bolero's, so the green one was really something I especially liked in that sense, and its nice to have the pair together now after all these years. The red one is actually part of a four piece series that volks released at the same time, im not 100% sure of the colors now, but I think the others were lavender, blue (or darker purple?) and white, all were sold as "china dresses", but with varying designs. I also have a few vinyl one's in the naughty box that I baught off auction that were sold as volks made, came in typical volks bags, and have the old anchient volks backing cards, but cant be sure about those since I never found any reference at volks themselves (then again their japanese site only went back so far with the dollpas), and no labels, although volks dont always put those on stuff. One's a short hemmed cheongsam type, and the other is a equally short halterneck type. on inspection they both were halterneck types, just with different detailing on the front,.
