aeris Posted September 29, 2013 Hi Now a few semiwhite skin dolls have been released, so I open this thread to know if someone has already some experience with this new color, especially about staining. Does it stain easily or not? It would be interesting too to know if oxy10 works on it, or if it makes yellowing like with white skin. Feel free to share your experience here. Thank you in advance Home : Hitomi, Kaori, Lily, Natsuki, Kotori, Yui, Kagami, Aï, Maya, Hana

SisterKyoya Posted October 6, 2013 I appreciate knowing that the SWS might be more prone to staining. I've been expecting that I'd be uber paranoid over staining with Kos-Mos because it seems that dark stockings have a high chance of staining DD. I've really had mixed feelings over if I should even risk putting her in her complete outfit for an extensive photo shoot since it isn't going to be what she's will be wearing regularly. I know the pictures would be a benefit to everyone who doesn't have one because I can be obsessive over taking pictures (I have way more pics than I've uploaded to my Flickr). But those black stockings... urg... so pretty, but I don't want to get burned with putting them on my first new limited girl for a few hour photo shoot and be left with kicking myself for not erring on the side of caution. I have just waited so long for her. Just took a look at the promo pics again and I forgot about the black ribbon garters. Even in my own sewing I avoid ribbons like that unless they are white. But I'm pretty sure that what they are connected to would also be equally black... This is so frustrating. I'd totally love to do the photo set in her complete default clothes without having a body stocking marring the overall visual impact, but I'm starting to think I may not have that option. At least I don't have to worry about the long term outfits since I'll be making them myself and the style has extensive undergarments that could easily be done in white. I think Raven and I have been lucky so far that we haven't had any major issues with stains except from Naiomi & Dakota's wigs and a couple of black dots that mysteriously showed up on Yuriko's arm. Overall Raven and I have been pretty lucky to not have many stains to deal with, but I'm definitely paranoid when it comes to our Xenosaga girls. Momo's stockings are adorable, but I've already warned Raven that I don't trust them. At least those I think I have a workable solution for. Sometimes I just wish stains weren't something we had to be so diligent over, and Volks cared more about preventing by the materials they choose, but at least they make girls for us to collect. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

waha Posted October 6, 2013 I think you don't have to worry volks' black socks.. They don't stain.. my alice got stain from non volks stokings Err, Volks have produced a lot of black socks that stain, and stain really badly at that too. For example the socks that came with http://www.volksusa.com/oflpp20120401.html turned a pair of legs mostly black after just a few days.
SisterKyoya Posted October 6, 2013 I know that one of Volk's older girls had black stockings and they are notorious for being stain monsters (I can't remember what girl). That's one of the wierd things with Volks clothes, it seems like what stains can be really random. One pair of dark Volks stockings didn't stain and it surprised a lot of people, but then a few months back Baldylox had an outfit on one of his girls that was lined in white but the outside fabric was black. Just recently he finally got almost all the stains off of his girl after they were so bad that it looked like she was attacked with a permanent marker. So for me Volk's reputation in this department is really bad. I've been sewing for many years so I have a good idea what kind of fabrics to look out for, but I don't have that option with the Volks outfits. I don't know if they are using cheap fabrics that have been over-saturated in dye just to make an impressive impact before I buy them. I can understand that all their concern is in making the initial sale and could care less what happens to the girls after that due to their own product choices. Even the display dolls in the stores are known to show staining. Personally I'd rather stay paranoid and having my girl stay beautiful for a long time, because that's where my concerns are. Guilty until proven innocent is not a stance I enjoy taking with a company I'd love to trust fully, but their reputation with me is what it is. I hope I don't sound grouchy because I'm not, just stating my opinion. At least I have some extra body pieces that I can use to check staining over the long term so I and others can have that info, but since Kos-Mos is my first SWS girl, I don't have spare parts for that vinyl type to see if it stains more than the other DD skin colors. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
ayanenana13 Posted October 6, 2013 From what i know, the one baldylox have is the old volks outfit.. But i'm not sure.. Correct me if i'm wrong.. but i made my Ayane to wear alice's default socks, her casual outfit socks and nanami's black socks.. All of them didn't stain her.. But when i put a pair of YJA socks, the red black dress I had on her in my posts, it stained the thigh.. So i guess volks have improved their black fabric especially fabric for socks.. That's the thing, they haven't. Look at the new Lady Archer/Wizard/etc sets for example, the red will stain. Just saying "New outfits won't stain" is absolutely untrue and misleading. The bottom line is that Volks is hit & miss, you're never gonna know until you try.

jadepixel Posted October 20, 2013 Well, I managed to stain a new SW L-bust that I got... I was sanding it and accidentally used a paper towel with a printed design on it to wipe it dry - some color from the print transferred. Zit cream treatment got rid of most of the color in one week, with no damage to the surface texture. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop

jadepixel Posted October 22, 2013 Hahah, it's not that bad! It's been about a month, and looks fine. I haven't managed to do any stains from the usual sources- dust, clothes - so it's hard to compare with NS so far. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
Chriandra Posted October 22, 2013 My Mariko managed to get a stain from sitting on a table, really strangely. I haven't tried getting it out because that makes me nervous but yeah, I think the SW girls might be a bit more prone to staining.
XOHimitsuOX Posted October 22, 2013 For those who have treated a SWS with oxy10 or similar, have you noticed any discolorations like WS or is it safe to use like the normal skin?

archangeli Posted January 11, 2014 Well KOS-MOS got some blue-black stains on her thighs from a Volks skirt earlier this week so I decided to treat the stains with Oxy10. After 2 applications the stains are 98% gone. The darkest one has turned to a light brown. There is no immediate discoloration or yellowing to the vinyl. I will monitor and report back. The one question I have to those who own White Skin vinyl and have used Oxy10 on it, did it discolor immediately? Everyone says "Don't do it! It will yellow your vinyl" and it's become common knowledge but it is something that happened after 1 hr, 1 month, 6 months? I've never stained any WS girl so I can't compare, and this is my first time treating SWS with Oxy10. Bubbles Posted January 11, 2014 Just a question: with these stains, have the clothes been machine washed with detergent before or are pretty much new?
XOHimitsuOX Posted January 11, 2014 The one question I have to those who own White Skin vinyl and have used Oxy10 on it, did it discolor immediately? It's a gradual discoloration you'll see it in a day or so. A faint green/blue patch will be visible where the oxy10 was applied.

And as it faded, the blue-green discoloration also became apparent. My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt
