raven89 Posted October 2, 2013 Hi everyone, I have just acquired a DDH 6 ws head and I am think of getting either a obi 50 or obi 60 for my daughter. I have heard that obi 50 is superior to obi 60 in terms of joints and sturdies. However, finding fitting clothes would be much harder. Hence I begin to look at obi 60 but I have heard so general comments that it is very well made. May I know if there are any obi 50 and obi 60 owners out there that can share the pro and cons of obi 60 ? I try not to get volks body as I adore magnetic legs and also the problem of spare parts for volks.
Janeway Posted October 4, 2013 I have had the obitsu 60cm and had no prombles with it and l did find that putting a obitsu 50cm spine in the obitsu 60cm made the spine better. I have heard that the 60cm spine can break so this is way l used the obitsu 50cm spine.
raven89 Posted October 5, 2013 Thanks for the reply !!! Issit true that the obitsu 60 now still have the exposed screw heads at the joints ? How's the articulation of the obitsu 60 compared with obitsu 50 ? Would an obitsu 60 be a better choice than volks dd2 with price issue aside ?
Janeway Posted October 5, 2013 Yes you could see the screw heads but only in the shoulder/ankle l think also they have caps that you can put over these if you didn't like the look but l didn't use them. As for the obitsu 50cm that's a hole different thing all together and l never had one of them yet mind you l should have one by x mas. There is no screws that you can see that l know of from doing my homework on the obitsu 50cm girl.
Minuette Posted October 5, 2013 No, there are no visible screws on the 50cm line or any Obitsu that have the 50cm jointing system. X3 They are a joy, really. I do not yet have my DD2 body to compare them, but I hear it said that you want Obitsu for insane posability and DD for aesthetics, though the posing on a DD is pretty nice as well. On the note of clothing for the 50cm body, it's not as difficult to find clothing for them as it seems. MSD clothing is generally the way to go for outfits that are short sleeved and skirts are usually fine being MSD sized as well. MSD shirts with long sleeves will not be long enough in the arms for the 50cm body though, and skirts without elasticized waists may sit too high for your liking, as it will have to go to the natural waist every time. Azone sells clothes that fit the 50cm body, and they're super easy to buy from, and Parabox sells basics for the body as well. There's really a wealth of options if you know where to look. raven89 Posted October 6, 2013 Thanks for the input !!! This making me hard to decide haha. Btw does ddh 6 looks too big on an obitsu 50 ?? so it means 1/4 clothes will fit an obi 50 ? I want my girl to wear a sailor uniform and i'm afraid a msd one will be too small. Is obitsu 60 very much inferior to obitsu 50 cm or volks dd2 ???
Minuette Posted October 6, 2013 An MSD uniform will fit, but the skirt may be too short, and if it's a long sleeve style the sleeves will be too short. I won't say that the 60cm is inferior to the 50cm, but the 50cm skeleton has improved posing over the 60cm. An apt comparison I feel like is comparing the DD2 to the DD3, for basic poses there's really not too much of a difference, but where the 50cm really shines over it's 60cm sisters is in more complex poses, while still having an appealing body-line. As I said yesterday, my DD2 body is still not here yet so I can't make any comparisons with those yet. ): Maybe Billy will see this topic and weigh in, as he has both the Obitsu 40 and 45cm bodies which are shortened 50cm skeletons, and pretty much every kind of DD body ever made. ;P
baldylox Posted October 6, 2013 Maybe Billy will see this topic and weigh in, as he has both the Obitsu 40 and 45cm bodies which are shortened 50cm skeletons, and pretty much every kind of DD body ever made. ;P Ha ha! I guess I do kind of have all the main DD body types in my family now. The only Volks body I'm missing is the new MDD3 but I don't think I'll be getting one due to how nice the Obitsu 40/45 bodies are. The original MDD body had so many problems with it that I got frustrated repairing them all the time. I do love how cute it is tho, that style is excellent for that size girl. But once I made the decision to get an Obitsu body, the MDD really paled in comparison to it. My first was a 45cm body for Minako and I loved how nicely it turned out for her. The posability is insane and it feels so much stronger and "crash resistant" than the MDD body. It really did have an impact on me for my smaller girls. Altho I don't own any Obitsu bodies larger than the 45cm, I've seen an older 60cm and have to say I didn't like its looks at all. The proportions were odd and not very feminine. You could also see screws at the shoulder and knee joints. It was great at posing for sure but it just didn't look as slender, curvy or delicate as the normal DD2 or DD3 bodies do. It was just wonky in my opinon. Now I know they have redone the 60cm bodies and they are supposed to be nicer looking than the older ones but I haven't seen one in person yet so I can't say if the overall appearance has changed enuff to sway me to want one for any of my girls. I know that doesn't help you out much but in my opinion, the DD look and style of the body and legs is VERY important to me and the larger Obitsu's I've seen don't have that look at all. That's just MY opinion tho so don't let it sway you if the Obitsu body is what you're after. The posing on them is crazy good and they're fun to play with but for that sexy and girly look that most DD's have, I don't think the Obitsu can replicate it as well. I do like the 40 and 45cm bodies tho, for the smaller girls, they work out very nicely for me and I like how they look clothed or unclothed. I hope that helps you a little. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
Misheru Posted October 6, 2013 Obitsu also has a 46cm and 47cm size based on the 50cm skeleton but are more curvy. And no, the 06 head is not too large proportionately for these bodies. The neck is slimmer than an MDD head, but I think it looks fine. I have the following Obitsu/DD hybrids - 50cm (Yamato)/Miu, 50cm/hd01, 48cm/yukino, 47cm/HD06, 46cm/hd02, 45cm/hd01 and multiple DD heads on 60cm bodies. I love Obitsu and DD bodies and both have different positives. ~ ❥ Misheru...the *M* in H&M House of Vinyl ❥ ~ ℒℴѵℯ❤ ( ͒ ु•·̫• ू ͒) ˚₊✩‧ All your dolliehs are belong to us! ✩‧₊˚ ( ͒ ु•·̫• ू ͒)
raven89 Posted October 8, 2013 THanks for the inputs ! I,m now swaying between a obi 50, a dds and dd2 lol. Guess I have to decide between posability and asthetics. Maybe I will a 1/3 dd sailor uniform to try on the obitsu 50 if I ever get one. I was just wondering is it possible to change a volks dd's leg into a magnetic obistu one ? baldylox Posted October 8, 2013 I was just wondering is it possible to change a volks dd's leg into a magnetic obistu one ? The only thing magnetic in the Obitsu's are the feet. There are magnets in the bottoms of the feet that hold them to the flat metal stands they come with. It would be a HUGE undertaking to try and modify Obitsu feet to work with the DD skeleton because they're VERY different in how they attach to the skeletons. So if you're intent on having magnetic feet on a DD body, you could modify a DD foot to accept magnets inside the vinyl skin covers. I'm sure with a little bit of time and patience it could work out well. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. nogo171 Posted October 9, 2013 THanks for the inputs ! I dont think you should be swaying among those 3, even between DDS and obi50. Size difference is huge and I don't think any clothes are meant to fit all 3. Even DDS and DD(2/3) sometimes have fitting problem already. This is borrowed from Coffee from another topic DD3, DDS, 2 obi50 If you don't have anything just yet and want to go medium size girls then get obi50 or obi45, one top and one second bottom of the new line obi body. Obi40/45/46/47/48/50 all pose superb. Obi45 will fit MSD size clothes but obi50 will be a bit trickier for DD/MSD size clothes. They fit better with Azone lines I guess but I don't have any experience. If you want to go for larger girls, get either DD2 now from Volks or DD3 from after market. Shouldn't go for 60 unless you've tried DD since DD2/3 body are both very pretty and more than good enough for posing. It will save you much effort on fitting clothes (because you know for sure that they will fit) and connecting heads. Only move to 60 when you feel posing is too limited (it doesn't mean DD bodies are limited in posing, just that 60 poses better) and want something more. I'm taking my girls out sometimes for photos in "extreme" conditions (not flat/clean/dry/soft surfaces) and that is the only time I switch to obi60 body for more stable posing. They don't necessarily pose better (maybe I'm not creative enough), just the joints are tighter so girls don't eat dirt too often lol. At home, they all stay on DD2/3 bodies. So to sum up for you: 50obi and under: +1 pretty, +2 pose, 0 clothes fitting DDS/DD2/DD3: +2 pretty, 0 pose, +1 clothes fitting 60obi (average among 3 types): 0 pretty, +2 pose, +1 clothes fitting Sorry if they all ends up having 3 points each since it is indeed the scenario for me At home Haruka (Haruka Niimi), Akira (Akira), Saber (Saber Alter), Madoka (Madoka SQ-Lab), Rise (Rise Kujikawa), Yukiho (Yukiho Hagiwara) & Touka (DDH-07)
