Random red stains all over my doll's legs!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a brand new DD and she's been sitting on my bookshelf. I've been extra careful not to let her come into contact with ANYTHING colored, and then I went to play with her today and she has awful red stains on her knees and feet. There's even some INSIDE her clothes! She's been wearing nothing but white this entire time! NOTHING has touched her, but they're there and I have no idea where from! The stains on the feet are darker, but they're weirdly shaped. It doesn't look like pencil marks or like any objects I have around, in fact they're just kind of random blotch-shapes.

This makes me really sad to see because I haven't been playing with her, and when I wanted to they were right there. I've only had her maybe two weeks, and this has already happened.

Also, she's white vinyl, which I've heard there are no proper solutions for removing stains without yellowing her. Is there ANYTHING I can do?

Could you maybe post some photos? I'm having a hard time visualizing exactly what the stains look like, and with photos of where she's sitting we may be able to identify the culprit!

Okay, just one sec. But I'll let you know now, I just took off the white dress she was wearing, and it's UNDER where she was covered, too! There's even a blue-green splotch on her back...

Okay, so I have some photos of where she was sitting and hopefully some pictures that will show the stains.

I swear, I've been extra careful with her. I have no idea where any of this could come from.

Her spot:

Her dress (which is lined on the inside):

And ALL the stains...They are much darker in real life.

Edit: There are even stains on her arms and breasts.... Ugh. Maybe I can just make her into a shiro lolita and have her completely covered all the time so that nobody will see these stupid stains all over her. I'm so frustrated. The more I look at her, the more stains I find.

I would try removing the spots with a damp magic eraser first, the spots look like they are on the surface for now.

Could it possibly be the bookcase? The spots look like a similar color.

It looks like you take very good care of her!

I would also assume the stain from the bookshelf, there's a chance it seeped straight through that fabric you have under her.

Are you sure you haven't handled her with anything on your hands? I would consider those spots major handling locations, due to posing and just plain holding her. I agree with Linda, try and see if you can get it off with a magic eraser before they become deep set stains, try it dry at first, then if that doesn't work wet it.

(Also, not directly on topic but I have to know: where did you get that dress? It's darling)

I think it's possible too. For example, nail polish is notorioius for leaving streaks on dolls, though the marks on Aronzo's girl don't quite look like that. But they could be.

Maybe there was something on my hands and I didn't know? I'm not sure. But the places that are stained weren't touching the shelf. Also, the stains aren't so bad where she was covered up.

Also, the dress came from Alice's Collections. This is the listing for white, but they also have pink and blue for this dress (and a 10% off sale going on girl clothes, too!)

Oh hahaha noo Alice's Collections also does free EMS shipping over $100 of accessories I'm screwed.

Have you had any luck getting the stains out?

No, nothing's worked. I tried magic eraser (dry and wet) and even tried applying colorless soap hoping that it would help the stuff break down (I'll have to rinse it off in a bit to see if that does anything). But maybe I'll just end up making her a frilly shiro lolita anyway and just cover the stains.

Yeah, except I don't have any unstained spare parts for her, so no. I don't want to risk ruining something that I'd want to put back on her afterward.

Remove-zit is your best bet for those spots, just apply a extremely light coat over the stains and they should be gone in 12 hours.
