DD Gathering 2013 + October Collection [19th Oct]

Well Volks did apologise for their mistake in advertising the incorrect product launch time in an email.

 

The advice to hang around and refresh is excellent advice. Shopping carts do time out or peoples' browsers crash or they abandon orders.

This is what they said to me in an email

 

"Dollfie Dream Gathering 2013" items were available from 10:00 am,

but we have announced "from 11:00 am" on our international website by our mistake.

We would like to apologize most profusely for the confusion that we have inadvertently caused you.

We will work our hardest to ensure that such problems like this do not occur again."

I just wonder how sincere they are. It seems to be a stock response. But hopefully when enough people moan they get the message.

 

Not that it was just confusion, but when your customer stays up to 4am and logs on by chance at 3:20am to find everything SOLD OUT, it's not just confusion. They should at least say, "we're sorry you had to suffer unnecessarily" etc. But maybe they have enough people who do this to allow them to brush their customers off this way.

 

Of course one could as well say, one is not compelled to buy from Volks. It's their way or the highway. Which is acceptable, but then their boorish behaviour can also be highlighted.

Hold on, guys, you're not really being fair to Volks here. Yeah, they messed up, but they owned up to that and also apologized for it. I'm impressed that they sent a personal response to each person that asked; that's got to be worth something, too, versus a generic homepage memo that they could have done. What beyond that apology would you expect them to do? The products were already sold, so they don't have any more to magically give to you the same day...

Can't believe the penguin is still available 12 hours after it went up! So tempted!!

Still no restock of the standard lines though. And such a pity they don't have the full base bodies in SW!

Well they did release an extra batch at 11am as well so they still followed through with what they promised.

 

Also with the stock apology they did add that they were happy I was able to order the Vampire set I wanted which was pretty nice I think. Anyway I was happy in that they took effort to admit to the mistake and rectified it by releasing another batch at 11am as advertised. ^^

Haha, for the folks that bought Alice's Penguin Suit, you'll be so amused by it! It looked like the staff was carrying around a giant carnival game prize everywhere they carried it... Such a huge penguin.

I believed the banner even though those events usually start at 10, not 11. I got on a bit early and saw the 07 heads were 'restock soon' instead of 'coming soon' and knew something was wrong. I didn't get the vampire set, but that allowed me to get some stuff from VolksUSA today instead.

i wonder will i be able to carry the penguin costume on flight next time i travel so my girl dun have to b in her bag during the whole trip...

Don't see why you couldn't. I've flown with a doll sitting in my lap before and almost always carry a stuffed animal on the plane (which I end up using as a pillow XD).

isnt there a size restriction? if im not mistaken the volks bag is slightly bigger than the size limit so i think this penguin will be bigger.

Why would the penguin be bigger? The Volks bag is sized to fit even the very big SDGou boys, so there is room at the ends with a DD in it. The penguin should be smaller. I'd be worried that the flight attendant would make me put her under the seat for takeoff. In that case, maybe have a face protector ready.

I've never had to put my girl (outside of a carrier) under the seat for takeoff. Stuffed animals either.

I supose it depends on the flight attendant, and also your seat. They seem more strict if you're in an exit row, for instance. I've never taken one of my girls on my lap in a plane, cause I usually have way too much stuff with me and need both the slot for carryon and personal item for bags. But I have had strict attendants when I was in an exit row that wouldn't let me have anything out that couldn't fit in the seat pocket.

oh, cause i was thinking if the bag fit DD is big than the penguin is suppose to fit DD as well thus it might be the same size as the big or even bigger cause its a plush. will just have to wait for it to arrive and see how big is it. i got this penguin costume cause i got trouble carry on the bag the other day when i pass through custom in japan, they actually take out a measuring tape and measure the bag...luckily there r a bit space on the top to fold the bag a bit into the proper limit size.

 

so i was hoping it wont be a problem if i carry a plushie on board as it will be sitting on my lap instead of the space above me like the bag did.

 

p.s. japan custom make be petite and cute but they are strict...my tripod got into the same situation before as well

EDIT: The penguin is sized for DDSister, and comes with a pillow backing to help the doll stand upright inside (space filler). A DD3 will also fit inside the penguin, but you need to take the pillow out and bend the DD3's legs a little bit to "shorten" her. Then she can fit and doesn't need the pillow backing to take up the right amount of space. That's what the DD Blog reported, at least.

 

The plushie is large in cirbleepference as well. It's about the size of a carry-on suitcase, just without the handles. It really does look like one of those huge plushies you win from carnival games at amusement parks.

It is shorter top-to-bottom than a Volks SD Carrying Case. Just slightly taller than a DD3 would be fully standing up. However, it is also much fatter in cirbleepference than the SD Case is.

 

(I don't own one to give exact measurements, but I did hold one in the store).
