Hotaru from Sailor Moon

Hey there everyone! I have had this project on my mind for quite some time now, especially since I've been wanting a doll of Sailor Saturn since I found out a doll of her existed (so...roughly 10 years ago!)

So I guess you can call her my true "dream doll" or my unicorn that feels the need to just be out of my grasp

When I would start this project is a bit of a mystery, as my time has been completely devoted to school, but hopefully when I hit my study breaks over the next year, I should get her completed.

Head: I'm thinking Semi-white skin, but not sure which head to use

Body: DDS S-bust (semi-white)

Eyes: Possibly think the "do it yourself", or maybe a commission...or even paint on eyes if the head is closed eye

Clothes: I would make her sailor uniform myself, especially the one with the petal sleeves (3rd photo)

and her glaive too!

Wig: I would think a black wig would be the most accurate, and bobbed style.

 

I think thats it for now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, oh, Alice for the head! Hotaru is who I said I thought she looked like when I saw her. But I'm sure there are other options, too...

Yeah, even Alice's default and extra outfits look like something Hotaru would wear!

While browsing eBay I happened upon an auction for Mirai on a DDI body. She comes with her V2 Navy Blue Wig, V1 Eyes (Not Pictured), V2 Eyes, a blue maid outfit, and DD Heels (Not Pictured/Most likely the plastic heels). They mention a small brown dot by her left eye, but it doesn't seem too noticeable (at least in that picture). The body is said to need restringing, small stain on one of her feet, & that one of her ankles needs adjusting.

If you decided Mirai would be good for your Hotaru this might be the auction for you It has 5 days & 13 hours to go with no bids on it (starting bid is $650 + $40 shipping to Canada). I have to admit that Mirai is very cute and I agree with Poof that she could be a good Hotaru. Not to mention it would be a lighter hit to your wallet than other LE heads.

I would definitely say an old DD head mold, with a very old school anime styled somatics. For example I'd say something Kotori or, even better, Nemu. Maybe Candy head would be a good fit too.

Mirai does have that old anime look, but don't feel pressured to get her! Personally I prefer newer DD aesthetic and sculpting. Plus, I imagine Hotaru being rather pale, and Mirai will be normal skin.

I actually never would have thought of Mirai...but I'm also on the same line of thinking: I prefer the newer DDs aesthetics and style.

I was also thinking a modded 06 head too...but she may be too smilely?

With some modding it's possible to remove/reduce the smile on 06. I did it on my modded 06 here:

That would be the better deal in comparison to the one on eBay. I was just on eBay at the time when I was reading this post so I hadn't looked anywhere else for her

 

And it's true you should definitely look through all your options! She has to feel like the right girl for you to be your Hotaru. Mmmm Hotaru would be a bit pale so NS Mirai definitely wouldn't be a good fit in this respect. I really can't wait to see who you decide on

Just a small update on the uniform. After seeing Harley in this outfit, I seemed to have changed my mind on Alice. I guess I will still be thinking about who my Hotaru should be.

oh wow she is looking good =) if you havent figured out a wig yet I ran into one the other day when I was looking for my Chibi Moon 'http://www.wigs2dolls.com/bjd/en/product-46-109-detail.htm' it comes in a dark purple under the 'Fancy' color section.. I think Alice's head would work well but if your thinking something different I find that the 07 head has a similar shape so perhaps you could do a face-up for an 07 head instead
