etoile Posted November 29, 2016 Oooooo Ready Player One is fantastic! I absolutely loved it, though it did take me a while to get into it. What part are you at? What do you think?
kinkachou Posted November 29, 2016 I'm really not too far into it-- I'm just past the part where we're introduced to the school within the OASIS. I love it so far, but the one thing I'm having some trouble with is the dialogue... some of the back and forth between Wade and his friends/classmates is like... really cringe-y for some reason. I'm trying to keep in mind that they're teens and that maybe some of it is supposed to feel that way (the whole gatekeeping scene between Aech, Wade, and I-r0k). Part of that feeling could also be secondhand embarrassment I'm interested to see more of how the fantasy element of the book is going to mesh with this very futuristic setting. I really should keep going with it, though-- it's the first book I've actually been able to absorb myself in within the last 2 years. Next up on my list is Synners and Neuromancer. Black lives matter.

Thespian Posted January 24, 2017 I've been reading The Cresswell Plot for the last week or so. It's pretty good if you're into cult-like religious families. It's told from the view of one of the daughters who just wants to be normal instead of being cooped up by her eccentric and cruel father. I'm about half way through and things are starting to really heat up. Kalle Posted April 25, 2017 I have a ton of books I need to finish reading, but I always get the temptation to buy new ones xD At the moment, the most recent one I was working on was Gold Fame Citrus by Claire Vaye Watkins.
NeeP Posted April 26, 2017 I am a fan of Sci-if and Fantasy, and just recently binge-read the entire Foreigner series by C.J. Cherryh. They are about the interactions between humans and the Atevi, the original race of people whose planet the humans were stranded on. My current favorite series is the Discworld one. I am gonna continue to miss Terry Pratchett. I am not reading anything else at the moment, as I know I will binge again... or I am just waiting for the right series... Niki P. sinclair Posted April 26, 2017 I love Sci-fi. The original Dune books, Rama series, Space Odyssey series are all fantastic. Also recommend the Commonwealth Saga books. Still want more books like these. But for now I'm reading some Star Trek novels. Found a pant load at Goodwill for super cheap. I mainly like the original series ones, but I might open the TNG ones too if I get bored enough.

Ellie Posted May 7, 2017 I use to read a lot of books but over time I just kinda of lost interest but I still read manga. Right now I'm reading One Piece and The Seven Deadly Sins. I'm also thinking of picking up My Hero Academia as I'm watching the anime and I'm really enjoying it and I'm too impatient for the next episode
Soenatte Posted May 9, 2017 I'm currently swallowing the Welcome to Night Vale novel whole (a second time) while (not so) patiently waiting for "It Devours" that comes out in autumn... Last book I finished was Ali Shaw's "the Girl with Glass Feet" about a week or so ago and I'm sitting on a pile of Japanese classics that are calling my name next... Gamma Ray Posted April 26, 2018 So many books today! I'm looking forward to reading them all! I already started Susie Carr's latest, The Curvy Side Of Life. She's my favorite author. Every spring is a treat because that's when her latest book comes out each year. I also picked up the first one of hers I ever read again, The Muse. It's got a special place in my heart. I lost my original copy, so I'm happy to have it again. From Top To Bottom is an anthology. I read the first story so far. Very enjoyable *blush* I also picked up The Essence Of Shibari. I only briefly looked at it, but it looks like a much better guide for actually working with the rope than another book I got last year. The rest of the books are from authors I haven't read before. It's good to expand my horizons

I believe I've read all (so far) of The Dresden Files. Jim Butcher has an awesome, easy to fall into the story, writing style! Another I'll recommend, would be the Iron Druid series, by Kevin Hearne. 10 volumes, and a damn good writing style, also! (There's a few side-novels, too!) I tend to like sarcastic and pun-filled sci-fi and fantasy books. Rick "Madness takes it's toll, Please have exact change!"
cluffy Posted February 19, 2023 currently reading/almost done with The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami, very highly recommend it though it deals with some very heavy topics.. and then when i'm finished i'm going to start another of his books, Men Without Women i also recently (like not that recently because it was over last summer) read Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen... i'm a complete sucker for those kinds of romance plots

Tierparkzone Posted February 20, 2023 Oooh, what a lovely thread! I recently finished "Inhibitor Phase" by Alastair Reynolds. I'd say it's one of his weaker books, but nonetheless very enjoyable. Now I started "Artemis" by Andy Weir. I really liked "The Martian", so I'm happy I finally get around to reading more from him. Chris Wooding's four "Tales of the Ketty Jay" novels are also quite comedic (in part). Especially "The Iron Jackal" is a blast. 1 Photo Story - Photo Thread - make your own signature like this
