Afterschool Akihabara Girls News and Events

A contest was held in Japan to design the next Afterschool Akihabara Girl.

 

These pictures are from the DD Blog in Japanese. They could either be the designs for the next two girls or maybe one will be decided on later.

 

The description includes her birthday, height, weight, that she is an S-bust DD, and her relationship to the other Afterschool Akihabara girls. The diagram shows that Natsuki and Moe are best friends and then they discover the singer Alna. I can't tell what the artist intended for her girl's relationship but the arrow from her name points to Alna. Maybe she is Alna's friend.

 

 

This girl is an L-bust DD. Her arrow points from Moe so she must have some kind of relationship with her.

Oh, cool! The second girl looks like she could be Moe's teacher. It'll be interesting to see what comes of this.

I like both designs and the first girls outfit is neat, especially her shoes. But the second one is great! Love the skirt and top in that set!

The first girl's name is Akira. She is half British and half Japanese. She is Alna's rival.

 

The second girl is Dr. Mariko whose weakness is that she can't reach the top of the blackboard. Maybe she is Moe's teacher just like Galvatim predicted.

 

"These two are the chosen two grand prize designs. They will progress toward a plan to turn them into DD. It will be a while before they are released, but their progress will be followed. By all means enjoy!"

 

I hope it doesn't take as long as the White Album project. It was an entire year's worth of waiting. We watched them from the first design of a red shoe posted on the DD blog through the prototype designs and the final designs to the seemingly excessively long wait for shipping.

 

Either way it will be lots of fun to watch the progress.

I missed out on the whole White Album project bit so seeing how this goes from start to finish will be fun for me. But like Mitsuki said, I hope it won't take an entire year before they have these girls available. That would kind of stink to have wait that long.

 

But I'll take what I can get I suppose!

I think the overall design is great. It's cute and how can you go wrong with Nekomimi? The only thing that keeps it from being perfect is the S-bust size. I'd much prefer the M-bust on this girl. But that's just my tastes...

 

And no, I don't think I could handle having a design I did get made into something I collected. It would seriously freak me out. It would be cool as hell after the shock wore off tho.

 

I also want more details on Mariko, she looks more my type for a DD.

I'd like to see a reboot of Aoi and Yukino, where they are "retconned" into the Afterschool Akihabara Girls milieu. Maybe they're college students going to a college near Akihabara. They are more "adult" looking than Moe and Natsuki after all. Yukino is a drama student who wants to be a seiyuu. Aoi is an art student who does doujinshi in her spare time. They are also Loli fans, with Aoi dressing in "perkygoth" Goth-loli (make sure everything is lined with white fabric) and Yukino in Shiro-Loli. Yukino could dress sorta, kinda like this:

Of course, this would push the "Image Character" price up from $418 US which is pretty amazing considering that the exchange rate between Yen and Dollar is so out of kilter. You have to give Volks USA some credit, they are holding the line with regard to prices.

I like your idea, Ms. Geek! If Volks released an LE version of Aoi, I'd totally have to get one! I'd like to see what sort of doujinshi Aoi would create...

 

I'd like some new basic Image Characters to be introduced too. Either the oft-suggested Moe and Natsuki re-releases, or all-new characters, maybe even an MDD and a DDdy?

 

Volks USA deserves alot of credit for keeping prices down!

Kid or even junior high (DDS) versions of Aoi and Yukino or Moe and Natsuki would also be cute.

 

They made MDD version of Mirai and Candy in the past.

 

 

I'd like to see the Moe/Natsuki face mold be DDH-05. They really need more basic faces for us customizing fiends. Alna as DDH-06 would be awesome too.

Volks must realize how popular/desired that head mold is. I don't know why they don't release it as standard.

Super short skirts!

 

I saw the occasional cosplayer or maid doing advertising but nothing was as short as these drawings show. Too bad too as I would love to have seen some real Akiba girls dressed like those!

The "C" outfit is sort of like what I was talking about with regard to rebooting Aoi as an Afterschool Akihabara Girl.

The Afterschool Akihabara Girl were on the DD blog recently. I wonder if they are drawing attention to them because the two new girls will be at the Kobe Dolpa. The blog entry describes the location of the Akihabara store, so it could be a coincidence that they were brought up. I really want to see how the new girls turn out so it could be my wishful thinking. I think Akira needs to be a DDS.

Moe and Natsuki. ;~; So pretty! I really hope Akira will be at Kobe, I adore her design so much. She really would be a perfect DDS.

I'm just curious to see where everything goes with all this. I'd absolutely love to see more blank molds, and the Moe/Natsuki and Alna molds would be SO AMAZING.

Oh wow - I don't think it would be safe for me to have them doing their Pretty Cure Cosplay in my home. The cuteness overload would surely overwhelm me and I'd be knocked unconscious.
