Unusual Hip Connection

I'm hoping someone can help figure out what's up with this hip joint on my DD2 body:

 

 

 

This is my only DD2 body (I have 1 DD3 and 3 DDS) and from everything I've read and seen the legs are supposed to be able to be removed at the hips but no matter how much I pull on them, the legs won't come off.

 

You can see in the photos that there's no visible connection point between the hip peg and socket. The reason I have her apart is because I have to replace the upper leg screw that you can see the nut for in the top photo, but I've always wondered what's the deal with this body since I bought it second hand.

it has a groove inside so you need to pull like really hard to get it off the way you get of a type 3. another option is to remove the plastic ring at the upper thigh skeleton. and undo the screws. thats hwat i did when i had to retighten that particular joint in the past

I had this problem recently as well and it took me over and hour to loosen it. Basically what I did was let the blowdryer sit in front of her hip joint (not too close of course) for several minutes until it was finally hot enough to be easier to remove. I had to do this twice until it finally came off.
