Skaf Posted November 26, 2013 I recently got a good deal on a DD2 doll, the reason for this was that her body have quite a few dark blue/purpleish stains. I thought I was being clever ordering a brand new DD3 body for her but as it turns out (I'm sure quite a few of you know where I'm going with this already) the DD3 body is a bit taller than the old one and thus her clothes won't quite fit. I mean, they do come on but especially the stockings are now a bit short. So I was wondering if I could put on a pair of DDS thighs to make her feet shorter? Or will this make the proportions be all wrong. Suggestions would be appreciated . Thanks!
Jezrah Posted November 26, 2013 If you put DDS legs on a DDIII it will change to the same height as a DDS, but with the torso looking like a DDIII. The only height difference between the two is in the legs. But I didn't quite catch your meaning. You mentioned a DDII, then a DDIII. Are you trying to make it the same height as a DDII? It will end up the height of a DDS, which is just very slightly shorter than a DDII. Aesthetically this mix could work. Personally I prefer the dolls the way they were meant though. When I swapped legs between a DDS and a DDIII it made the DDS torso look like it was on spindly legs, and the DDIII torso look too large for the short legs. But that was only my opinion. I could take photos if you'd like?
Skaf Posted November 26, 2013 But I didn't quite catch your meaning. You mentioned a DDII, then a DDIII. Are you trying to make it the same height as a DDII? Essentially, yes. Ideally what I'd want is the DD2 shape with the convenience of buying DD3 parts. I suppose that's not quite what I'm getting if I were to get the DDS thighs though. Aesthetically this mix could work. Jezrah Posted November 27, 2013 OK here are some comparison pics. This is the normal setup comparing DDS and DDIII. Unfortunately I don't have a DDII, so I put pins in the backdrop to mark the original heights. And here they are with reversed legs. The DDS and DDIII thigh tops are different sizes, so they fit a little funny reversed. The DDS thighs are much easier to stick into the DDIII torso openings than the other way around. I guess the DDS thighs don't look tooooo weird on the DDIII torso, but IMO it makes her look a little pudgier than a DDS. They are really about the same height though in the torso area. A DDII would be right in between them height wise.

Perhaps I just need to look for a proper DD2 body or even stick with the stained one I have. Or perhaps even use the new DD3 body and accept that the band at the top of the stockings is a bit more exposed. Thanks for the pictures, they were very helpful! SisterKyoya Posted November 27, 2013 Personally I think it's cool that they can be swapped, it's something I never knew. I really like the different body proportions too instead of all the girls being exactly the same body type wise. I do wonder what the difference looks like with clothes on. Clothes can make a big difference. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Jezrah Posted November 27, 2013 Since the DDIII thighs are hard to get into the DDS torso, I don't wanna switch them too much. I don't wanna damage the pegs in the DDS torso. I'd say if someone liked that look and wanted it permanently, to try not to get into situations in which you'd need to remove the legs.
MomoCream Posted November 27, 2013 I never thought they wre able to do that. I like how the DDS torso looks with the DDIII legs might try this when I get my girl.

I totally understand this because I'm the same way with swapping heads or busts and I'm afraid of snapping the neck peg. Sometimes I just get really bored/frustrated with feeling like I don't have much of a choice in body types from Volks compared to Obitsu. I use the Obitsu bodies when I have to, but I very much prefer the look of the DD bodies. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Skaf Posted November 27, 2013 I might still get a pair of DDS thighs to experiment with and if I do I'll be sure to post some pictures of my own.
TomoTomo Posted November 27, 2013 Hmmm interesting..... are the busts interchangeable aswell??
Jezrah Posted November 27, 2013 Yes, you can put a DDS bust on a DDIII torso and vive versa. I believe that I read somewhere that some of the DDS sizes (M maybe?) run slightly smaller than the DDIII version. But I haven't actually measured myself.
nogo171 Posted June 12, 2014 Sorry for digging out the old topic. I just have received my 1 piece torso SW body and I just love the body so much! However, the height difference between DD3 and DDS is quite significant. I only own DD3 so far so only one DDS is looking a bit odd and I'm not too fond with the shorter girl anyway. Any idea that I can switch out the thighs + shins of the DDS body to replace with the DD3 ones. I know arms length are a bit different to. Should I also need to replace the arms to accompany the longer legs. In here I think Akira seems to have the same setup with what I'm going for and her arms don't look very short though. I might be able to save a bit from buying another pair of arms ^^ At home Haruka (Haruka Niimi), Akira (Akira), Saber (Saber Alter), Madoka (Madoka SQ-Lab), Rise (Rise Kujikawa), Yukiho (Yukiho Hagiwara) & Touka (DDH-07)
Jezrah Posted June 12, 2014 Yes you can make that change, and to me the arms didn't seem to matter. But as I said on the first page, it was difficult getting the DDIII thighs into the DDS torso. So if you choose to do this, be very careful when you pose her. You wouldn't want the pegs in her torso to break.
nogo171 Posted June 13, 2014 Yeah, I can see the limit on the pose-ability. I think I just try one of the DD3 leg on the DDS torso first to see how tight it fit before getting a pair from Volks. Hopefully it is only tight in the vinyl part that won't be fragile. Otherwise, might need to sand out the pegs a bit if they too tightly fit. I just can't wait to see my 1 piece torso with a super long legs of the DD3 ^^. Will report on my experience later on weekend. Eustia Posted June 13, 2014 I recall one of these threads about DDS arms on DDIII bodies, and may do that since Volks won't restock their damn arms, but it's interesting to see the DDS legs on them to make them shorter. DDIII legs are rather long. I find the proportions a little odd, really.

It's not that the peg is a different size, it's that the vinyl part is bigger. The top of the thigh area on the DDIII is bigger around than on the DDS. So the opening in the torso is also smaller on the DDS. The reason the peg is a worry is that you have to put some downward pressure on it to force the larger thighs up into position. nogo171 Posted June 13, 2014 NFSW photos are below and just a remind to readers that this post is rather an opposite setup with the topic here with DD3 thighs on DDS, not vice versia I recall one of these threads about DDS arms on DDIII bodies, and may do that since Volks won't restock their damn arms, but it's interesting to see the DDS legs on them to make them shorter. DDIII legs are rather long. I find the proportions a little odd, really. Yeah, tbh, DDS has better proportion as human. By herself, she looks just great but when standing next to my other girls, she looks dwarfed =.= And thanks a lot for your input Jezrah. I actually went ahead and use a normal skin DD3 (Saber Extra's body) leg to try on the DDS 1 piece torso (Yukiho's body). Surprisingly, I didn't have any fitting problem at all. The DD3 legs (with cool cat enforcement part) slid in just fine. Probably later bodies have better compatibility to each other? It was indeed even smoother to slide in than the original DDS legs because I think the vinyl on the new leg (only out of box for 2 days) is still harder than the older one. Potential pressure on pegs aside, I can now be assure that everything is compatible. Here is DD3 leg (shin+thigh) + DDS feet on DDS body Closer look, you can tell that DD3 thigh is a bit bigger but it still fits in effortlessly because the torso opening is made wide enough to accompany the movement of the thighs, not only just to fit the thighs in She can do this just as easy as normal. No vinyl push required This is just fine too. Easy and smooth movement, a bit of vinyl push is required I think this pose is one of those requiring the most movement, but you can still see there is enough gap between the torso and the thigh. The gap on the other side is still bigger though We will encounter this problem on a high kick when the leg goes up almost 120 degree. But the same happens with DDS leg too. And this pose requires a lot of vinyl push whether it is DDS or DD3 leg anyway. Wouldn't try to do to much if worrying about the pegs. So in short, parts are switchable and I don't think we need to worry too much about the internal skeleton. I don't think anyone would be rough handling our girls so we can't really be more gentle than we are already anyway lol. If everything is in stock, I might take the advantage of tomorrow's click war to combine shipping for a pair of legs. DDS and DD3, feet are same and so are shins. But I still planning on using the DDS legs sometimes and wouldn't want to keep parting the shins and thighs so both of them will be on shopping list At home Haruka (Haruka Niimi), Akira (Akira), Saber (Saber Alter), Madoka (Madoka SQ-Lab), Rise (Rise Kujikawa), Yukiho (Yukiho Hagiwara) & Touka (DDH-07)
