Akiyama Mio (K-On!)

Not exactly original, just wanting to give it a try to see if it is at least remotely possible I could make her in a customized manner. The original is painfully hard to obtain so seeing if I can make her in a custom form. I'll start making her if I can find the right parts by December 15th. May delete this post then if nothing happens.

I, myself, thought of using Volks USA's stock parts and a bit from Coolcat for the body itself. I'm still new to it (not even a year) so just seeing what is and isn't possible right about now. I may even be accidentally screwing up the part compatibility so any second thoughts would be handy. The main issue being the head. Has to look like Mio....

Hoping to get something even slightly completed, something that I and others can tell is Mio from the above "experiment list" above. Hoping to come across better parts through poking around, suggestions, or by accident when surfing the web.

My first thought for the head was actually the 07. P: With minimal modding it could actually be pretty perfect, I think! I can't tell what color her eyes are, are they grey? (I've never seen K-on! I'm working on it...) For eyes, if you can find a pair, Twin Snow's Stardust collection eyes in grey (if that is in fact what color they are ) would be a great "off-the-rack" option, if you'd rather do that before going custom.

Crobi has really good quality wigs, and every so often there are group orders on Den of Angels that allow you to save on shipping costs. Or of course you, or someone else, could host an order on this forum as well. ^__^

I also believe I read that website will ship by Airmail so that it costs less than EMS shipping. I've never had a wig from them before, but there is a topic on these forums that has positive comments about them.

 

Just showing some other options for wigs in case the one that you linked ended up being a pre-rooted head.

Oh, awesome! Pardon the "somewhat" late reply but was tending to Vara's Christmas gifted loot (Dec 5th festivities). Type 7 head and the wigs? I could look into them, the links you shared to see if they could work. Wonder if it can be done. Hmm... Thanks

i'm one of those weirdos thats never actually seen K-on but I am familiar with the character. Hmm , so the DD is very hard to obtain? that must really bite if you are a big fan of her.. I feel bad D: why do so many people have to scalp or hoard certain dolls? XD its silly. Anyway it's always good to make your own version anyway as she will have your own personal touch to her ^_^ I wish you the best of luck : D and I can't wait to see how you will make her<3

She was until I made this thread to then notice loads of postings on figure.fm. I facepalmed but still is hard to obtain financially. With such I was pondering about getting bits and pieces when all else fails with the importance being on the head.

 

This was actually meant for a figure.fm'er but things aren't going as planned so....The person I'm trying to gift LOVES Mio and another person I know wants to get a Mio for reasons semi-unknown; foggy memory. May have to leave this open and hanging for awhile before things settle again. Thanks for the "best of luck" .
