Upcoming MDD?

There have been so many events from Volks and they only release DD and DDS >.< Just wondering if anyone as any idea who might be the next MDD? I'm guessing it would be a SWS? not sure who >.

It seems like Volks simply isn't a fan of giving much attention to their MSD/MDD lines. They recently even came out with the SD Midi line, which was a good solid two years I think since their last MSD release. So the abuse to the MDD line isn't too surprising. As they got out Rena recently I would be surprised if you'd be waiting an entire year...

 

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that more often than not the characters that get licensed for production are in fact at least teenagers. While children (or the loli-sized adult) are always present in anime/video games the adult-sized individuals do still outnumber. (By a lot.) Most animes only have one individual who would classify for that size unless the entire show is just that, and those are, well, even more-so outnumbered.

 

Too many characters, and just not enough of them (Loli) to be popular enough to get attention from Volks.

 

If they do though, I'd like a Hachikuji... I need a little snail in my life.

I'm really sad Volks hasn't released any MDDs lately They don't sell the bodies in SWS either, so I can't make a SWS custom 01 like I want to.

It's a little sad to see the MDDs being as neglected... ): it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get to see a release for a while either, though... u_u

Perhaps the problem is that there are not a lot of popular anime / games / characters who are young / short

I think there's a lot of popular characters but DDs are more popular so they make more money for Volks. I'd love to have a Yui (SAO) MDD!

If they decide to keep doing Sakura Wars releases I'd kill for an Iris. I absolutely love MDDs so I really hope they do release more of them.

I'm itching for a new MDD, too! I really thought Nanami would be MDD, there's nothing stopping Volks from making an original character.

 

Like other folks have said, the SD-size are most popular, but I think MDD are growing in popularity too with the new improved body. The downside is that the improved MDD costs almost as much as a full-size DD.

I keep holding off on getting a second DD in hopes that they'll announce a new MDD. orz

There is a lot of character who are short/young in anime/manga or video games !

Volks has no excuse i think. There is a lot of choise.

 

For exemple : Prisma Illya, Yui (I'll kill for her xD) form SAO, Kobato and Maria from Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, Mayoi from Bakemonogatari, some Madoka's characters, Tsukiko form The hentai prince and the stony cat... Too much choise that would be very nice.

 

C'mon Volks, make a MDD !

I guess they at least made Rena so it's not a complete lost!

On the other hand, I've gotten so used to 01 customs as MDDs. Currently I think the only MDD release I've wanted was Konomi... If Volks releases a new MDD she might not even be a must-have for me ^^;

Hmm I found this odd too considering that the MDD was released before DDS you figure there would be more dolls..but nope! I'm hoping to get a MDD as my first, kinda bummed that they are priced so high though. Its a little hard to justify so much for a msd size doll ;w; maybe they would be more popular if they were cheaper.

Ohhh I'm glad people are also waiting for some MDDs xD I'm hoping perhaps next yr Volks would have a new MDD release >.<

 

Does anyone have a hint or news for any possible MDDs?

I've been waiting and waiting for a new MDD release, I'd sad they don't get more love from Volks... T^T I think they're so cute~~ I would have thought with the new body coming out they would've pulled out a few new character dolls for it.

 

For me, I'd do anything for a Card Captor Sakura MDD... 3 Or a Mami from Madoka MDD... TT_____TT

Azone's been doing the Madoka girls as Obi50s; Madoka and Sayaka are already available, Homura's on preorder for a Feb/March release, Kyoko's had a prototype shown, and Mami's been announced. Not quite what you're hoping for, but. . . it's something?

 

I do think MDDs are awfully cute, and the MDDIII body does remove the floppiness concerns I used to have about getting one. (And hey, there's always the Obi40.) Still, beyond ideas for a grumpy 01, haven't seen one that got elevated to true unicorn status yet. (I do like Louise and Cirno, but I don't quite pine for them. Does that make them pegasi or dragons or something?)

 

Part of me really wants Volks to make an MDD that makes the unicorn list, but part of me totally dreads that possibility.

Even with a growing number of girls in our house, MDD are still my favorite. Sure the Obitsu bodies are a great alternative depending on what you are looking for, but they simply can't compare to the adorableness of the MDD bodies. When I first got Tamayuki I kept taking photos of his hands and feet because they are just so chubby and cute!

One thing that drives me crazy about how Volks doesn't seem to care about the MDD is the bodies aren't available in WS or SWS, despite the fact that both the DD & DDS are available in all 3 skintones. I really hope that Volks opens up the options for all the body types, but how many people own the WS MDD bodies that would love to upgrade to the MDDIII? I love my Tamayuki and he's in a lot of my photos, but I can tell you that trying to get his floppy body to do what I want it to is so very aggravating. Frankly the MDD bodies stink when it comes to poseability/long term joint function. As active as he is I knew from the beginning that body replacements would be much more frequent than any of our other DDs and I try to do repairs the best I can, but even now one of his knees is just simply giving out.

 

I have a small band of OC goth kids that are just begging to be made into MDD, but the problem is one of them has to be a WS because she needs to be dyed light blue. The other 4 would either need to be WS or SWS to make them look like I originally intended when I drew them many years ago. Body proportion wise they would also work on the Obitsu 11cm bodies and would still look like they should, but I really don't like sewing for such a tiny scale because it is just problematic. This also explains why Dolly rarely has new clothes.

 

Both Raven and I still think that Momo should have been an MDD like she was in the anime, and yet another character Volks didn't decide to make into an MDD...

Momo is a chibi even in the games. x3 she looks very slightly older than in the anime but still not quite DDS in my opinion. Funnily enough my Momo will go on an MDD body that has been waiting its head since summer, but the character has nothing to do with the original Momo. xD

 

I'll agree about the skintones as well... I got Mirai thinking I could maybe blush her white head to look less odd on the MDD but without changing her skintone entirely and eventually had to back out of that idea because it's odd. She's going to go on a WS DDS now.

I think Shimakaze from Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~ would be a great candidate for a new MDD. She's super cute and the character is incredibly popular with almost every figure company making figures of her. Azone is also making a 1/6 PureNeemo of her.

The only issue I can see is that Azone already has the license for the character but that shouldn't be too much of an issue since they are handing the licensing out like candy. Plus Volks and Azone have a few overlapping series.

Ohh I've seen a few different customs of her before but only in 1/6 and one as a DD. I knew she'd be perfect as an MDD.

Let's play 'MDD that Volks should make!'

 

Some possibilities:

Petralka from Outbreak Company - series is popular, but this character not so much

Odds: 19:1

 

Yui from SAO - not as popular as Asuna or Leafa

Odds: 15:1

 

Prisma Illya from Fate/Kaleid - Type Moon is a safe bet for a licensed MDD, and there's already an Illya sculpt

Odds: 1:1

 

Chibi-usa from new Sailor Moon - super popular, but odds favor a resin doll if any from Volks

Odds: 9:1

 

Runa from (NSFW) Sono Hanabira series - Mariko-sensei is basically a clone of Runa's girlfriend, but this niche series is a longshot.

Odds: 9999:1

I also hope for a new MDD release! These characters would be great as MDD versions, I especially would be thrilled by a Chibi-Usa!
