Looking for information on new releases

Recommended Posts

GreenDragon

I just bought my first DD last week and I am now looking for my second. Looking at the Volks site I really like Yaya and have been searching all over this forum trying to find any info on her but I cannot find anything and I wonder why that is. I see there is a thread for News and Events but nothing there about her.

Is there a place here on this forum that actively talks about what's coming out soon and how to get it? even if it's just speculation, because at least then I don't feel so in the dark. If not here, where else can I find any information? My last question is, are there people that buy in Japan at Dolpa for resale here, or is that considered unethical?

I thank you in advance for any information you can give me.

Someone usually makes a thread about the event itself, so the doll names aren't in the title.

Here's the event Yaya is being released in: viewtopic.php?f=46&t=8532

Just keep an eye out for future event topics to see what's gunna be released

Thanks That's what I was looking for..huge help..and I see she's available on YJ which I have yet to figure out .

In any 'hobby' there will always be people that buy solely to resell. Ethics or not, that will always happen

Anyway, so what usually happens is Volks will have a DOLPA in Japan and release some cute new girls. Then a month or so later there will be After Party lotteries on Volks Intl site (which you can enter if you like), and then sometimes at same time, Volks USA will have their lotteries.

Occasionally, due to licensing issues, certain dolls may not be sold on the USA site (such as Asuna, or IdolM@aster line up)... then you better get on that Intl lottery if you want them!

As for Y!J - you're gonna need some kinda middleman service to bid for you, and keep an eye on those exchange rates ^_^

Thanks, this is great I'm learning DD stuff I've been researching how to navigate YJ but have yet to try. I'm just nervous about bidding on something and then finding out after all the fees that I have to pay way more than expected.

I use a great shortcut - just browse via these guys! Splits up all the DD listings with some English translation options on each one

Great !!! thanks!!! I just signed up with them and read the tutorials. I didn't make a deposit though because I want to look and see what they have before making mydeposit. I was not able to figure out what they want for a search term though. I tried all the variations I could think of on Dolfie Dream without much luck. Also, about what percentage do they take for their commission?

ara... if you signed up with them, haven't you read their general numbers outline?

Typically, when you look at specific auctions via their site, it will show you their commission right in the bidding section of numbers

For example: Current Price: 72000 yen

Current Commission: 35 USD

Also, be careful of the exchange rate. Typically the rate they use is 3 or 4 less than current rate.

So if right now its 104 yen/1 dollar, they will use 99y/1$

And then other charges, like shipping from seller to them, then later shipping from their US storage to you.

Anyhow, I typically just browse all DD auctions first, just to see what general terms might come up. What specific thing are you trying to find, maybe I could help? An outfit, part or character? (hit me up on PM if you like)

Yeah, Yaya just came out at Dolls Party 30 in Japan on 12/22, so only people that went to that event on that day have her yet. Release for the rest of Japan and for all international customers is 1/18, by lottery. That everyone-else release is called the Dolpa After-Event. This is the model for how Dollfies are usually released.

Dolls and clothes are released in monthly batches, at various kinds of events. So, you'll look in the news forum on this site for things like "Dolls Party", "February Collection", "Volks News", and similar to find out what's being released where and when.

Whenever I go to a Japanese doll event I'll usually post up a thread in the Group Orders forum asking if anyone wants me to buy stuff for them while I'm there.
