SakuraSylph Posted June 2, 2014 Yes, it was the Tenshi no Mado Special Supplement to Volks News. Very thin, with mainly SD stuff in it. The big news there was that there's a new SD skintone Pureskin Bisque, on a limited doll for Mado's reopening, and the SD Midi body type is being added to FCS. There was one DD item to note in it, along with the June outfit Collection. See the other thread. SakuraSylph

DJStarstryker Posted June 2, 2014 There wasn't much in there either, if you guys are wondering. There were 3 summer yukata, some wedding dresses, and a few sets of casual clothes. That's pretty much what the June Collection is looking to be. Are you ready to rock? ^_^

I will update as I google more. Also, some sad news to DD fans; Dollfie Dreams will no longer be allowed to have photos taken in Tenshi no Sato just like at Tenshi no Mado. Tenshi no Sato will also no longer carry DD items as well. It will be purely Super Dollfie exclusive from now on. However, for some positive updates: It seems like the bisque SD skintone isnt the new line after all. So looks like Volks will keep us hanging then. I deduce it to this idea since first, it is a new skin tone and second, if it really is the new line, then they will state it. Also, on the anniversary website, they haven't mentioned about the new line yet, so it means we are still hanged until the future. I hope this is in anticipation of expanding the DD line, and trying to keep it separate from SD so they don't compete with each other. Otherwise this move just doesn't make sense. :/ If that is what they're doing, I hope they continue to label DD compatibility on their SD-geared outfits anyway! I get so much more tempted by LPC and Designer's Collection than I do Tenshi no Koromo, so I really appreciate knowing ahead of time what might work on my girls. mitsuki Posted June 2, 2014 I'm glad Volks is making this brand distinction. After all, those SDs were dragging down the extremely cool cyber age image known as the illustrious Dollfie Dream. (Kidding.)

Probably the same reason fans of IdolM@ster outbirked and basically threatened to boycott and raise pure sand when the creators mentioned a thought about creating a rival boy band xD Honestly, not everyone wants to include sausage in the clam bake XD I don't mind the idea of Male DDs but I just think they'd look funny and I can't imagine it. (Admittedly I would make Jude and Milla from Tales of Xillia, if they did come out with some though that didn't look as wonk as I am imagining lmao) A very small demographic actually wants them though. I know there's a good bit of english speakers that are hardcore about it, but the target market is Japanese men and a LOT of the collectors there probably don't want guy dolls xD There's this constant theme that I notice with the DD side of the hobby that I can't really describe without sounding like a jerk, lol but here goes: -- People go to Cat Cafe's in japan because they want to drink tea, snack, relax and play with cats because they can't own one, etc. Cats are pretty rare in japan for the most part unlike most countries where you can barely go anywhere without seeing one. -- Imagine you're a long time patron to the cat cafe and you overhear a few other patrons talk about adding dogs to the cafe experience. The owners didn't say they would or wouldn't but a few patrons have been asking, if not begging for it. --Yes, dogs are pretty rare too, at night you don't hear dogs barking etc. in Japan. However, to you the addition of dogs would change your entire cafe experience. -- Dogs would have different patrons in the cafe with different interests, because dogs are different animals. They're louder, at times bigger, just different all together, even the people that like them are different. It won't be the same as it was before. -- You're fine with there being a Dog cafe across the street or something. . . You just don't want them to bring dogs into the cat cafe. TL;DR: It's about change. Boy DDs would open the flood gates into this side of the hobby and a lot of peeps aren't crazy about that kind of change. Yukamina Posted August 13, 2014 I can sort of see what you're saying there... I can relate a bit to not wanting boys (male DDs) included in the all girls club of the current DD line. Similarly, when I watch anime with an all female cast, I don't want male characters added either (same with an all male cast though). Buuut, I want male DDs anyway. Folks who aren't interested in male DDs don't have to buy them, though. It's not quite like having dogs at a cat cafe. It's not like DDs are the only dolls on the Volks website, there are SD girls and boys listed right along side them. Getting upset over DD boys is a bit like getting upset over SD boys. If you don't like, don't browse or buy them, it's so simple. I really wonder what the new Dollfie line will be though. I understand why Volks might not ever release a male DD line, but I can still hope... My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt
Orchid Posted August 13, 2014 I know a lot of people who would buy a male DD, and I'm the first of them x3 it would increase the variety in this hobby, and that's great! And if Volks doesn't release any male DD soon, a lot of us are going to buy Danny's smart doll boy, who will probably fit perfectly with Dollfie Dream's style. chien Posted August 14, 2014 I just think that variety is the spice of life and all the same all the time is really boring. Such as how I'm not the only person who was bored by the release of so many round-eyes-slight-smile heads in the past three years, lol. More frown-y dolls! Sharper eye shapes! Different noses (KosMos, Rise, Alna!!!!!) or other features, please! Heck even just do something like change up the facial proportions-- same features but put them lower on the face so it's more moe!!!! Also, Volks you have beautiful sunlight resin for your FCS and limiteds-- it's such a gorgeous, warm, awesome color. Please please please! Tan Dollfie Dreams! There are lots of cute anime girls with tanned skin. Hibiki from idolm@ster is notably darker than her crewmates. I like Francesca from Strike Witches too. I agree that if you don't want it, just don't buy it. My experience isn't soured by the repetitive doll heads, I just get to save a bit more money. ;3 I wouldn't hang out on a forum if I wanted to talk to myself all day-- everyone's different opinions and thoughts are what make life interesting. A new group of people getting into a small and niche hobby? Please do come hang out with us, lol! The more money they pump into this hobby with their newfound investments, the more returns everyone else gets too. :p Look what it's done for Marvel now that their movies are so popular. They have the money to take more risks now instead of pandering to their dwindling audience of diehards, so they took a huge leap of faith with their new Ms. Marvel series and are doing great. It's just nice to have options even if you don't take all of them, just like in life. :

I'm not entirely sure that really is the same issue since we're not talking about a store where people go to see and play with dolls, I think a better comparison would be a pet store where they sell both cats and dogs. I wouldn't mind the store selling dogs if I can get my cat there and not be bothered by dogs at home. That said, I can see why some people could be upset if Volks decided to start selling male DDs and I'm not in a position to argue what makes financial sense for them to do. It's a hard to explain topic, for me lol as #1 - I stink at examples lol and #2 I am tip toeing, because I don't want to offend anyone so being careful with word choice. I wanted to touch on the topic I think no one has issues with male dds and the options to purchase them so much as the impact on the community that they might not like. That's more why I said cafe, because buying a cat and drinking tea at home not surrounded by cats and others that like them isn't what most peeps want to do. Otherwise they would save for a kitten and bring one home rather than go to a cafe. We are pretty social people not everyone wants to go home and enjoy their dolls alone. It's like people in unintentionally think that the option of boys won't have an impact on the community that some might not be a fan of. That's the part where to some the diversity may not be entirely welcome. The community is why some are fighting the change. I'm sure everyone has had a hobby or even job that hit that really big change point at some point and it kinda felt like there was pee in your wheaties. Lol Granted, I don't particularly share this view per se, again I just keep imagining soom MD or luts (old) delf boys in vinyl with 80's action figure bodies or really child like sd 13 looking bodies lol That or anime style Ken xD Thus rather than boys I would want to have DD fcs, with tan skin options, different eye styles and mouth options. I think that would satisfy my variety needs, because I do agree a lot of new girls do look alike. puxlavoix Posted August 17, 2014 I don´t think its a variety issue which makes perfect sense but for most of us males it would be a deal changer: keijogirl said: -- You're fine with there being a Dog cafe across the street or something. . . Lol Don´t want DD photography to turn into DD couple photography. Really don't mind about the more casual pics, but please not the more serious ones. It really makes me shrudder the very idea of having "cute couple pic of [insert your fav dd name here] and boyfriend" instead of the "awesome [insert your fav dd name here] pic" Of course nobody will buy whatever thing they don't like. We are grown ups and its okay if people has different tastes and approaches to the same things you like because that's part of life and we´re all respectful about the fact that some owners want to have the DD couple experience. But the majority of us simply are not thrilled about the so called DD male for a lot of reasons, we're just not wired that way so don't try to go and force the idea into everybody
Amber Posted August 17, 2014 I personally haven't noticed anyone forcing the idea about having male DD. I just see people who are excited about the idea, and also people who are against it. I don't think male DD will impact the community very much, unless male DD start to take over Volks' priorities. However, realistically, I don't think that would happen because I think females will always sell better for them. I can say that some super ecchi photos make me shudder, but I deal with it by not looking at them. If I come across one, I move along and get over it. It's just a picture. If male DD or couple photos make anyone feel that way, then it is not so difficult to leave the page. ^__^ Volks is going to do whatever they think will make them money. Not whether a community is being overprotective (and what I would call borderline selfish) about the DD line.

DD's are not about the girls and their "boyfriends" its more like DD and Master (we their loving owners) Well, I think people view their dolls in a variety of ways. Some people have couples among their female DDs already and post couple pics. Male DDs as "boyfriends" for female DDs doesn't appeal to me at all. I want a male DD just the same as I want a female DD--because I want the doll itself. Maybe I want a DD of my favorite anime character, or for an original character, or just to dress up in different styles and admire. puxlavoix said: Of course nobody will buy whatever thing they don't like. Ahhhh, it frustrates me a lot when guys take this attitude. Do you have any idea how much 'fanservice' type stuff girls have to sit through all the time without complaining? Like Arienette said, we're not forcing ideas on everyone, it's just something we really want for ourselves. It's like when someone wants a certain character released as a DD, others don't show up and say "Ew, no, not that character, *I* don't want that character." They just think "not for me" and move on. Ravendruid Posted August 18, 2014 Well, as another straight, adult male, I have no problem at all with either male dolls or 'doll couples". As has been mentioned, there are already plenty of yuri couples out there. Seeing hetero couples really doesn't give me any problems at all, and even yaoi couples are fine with me. Besides, at least on this forum, photo threads and story threads tend to be labelled well enough that if there is something that crosses a line I don't even have to see it. Besides, it's not like there will be fewer photos of single girl dolls, there will just be more photos overall. I see my girls as having real lives, and honestly, couples are frequently a part of life. I could easily see myself getting a male doll somewhere down the line, and possibly even giving one of my later girls a boyfriend. I know I wouldn't want any of my daughters to be eternally lonely, and I have a very hard time believing that all vinyl girls are automatically lesbians. I guess I just have a very difficult time understanding how someone doing something different with their dolls, or even posting pictures and/or stories about their dolls doing something differently could somehow ruin the hobby for everybody else, any more than allowing different kinds of couples to marry would somehow impact the marriages of anyone else. The forums are nicely divided up into threads, and nobody is forced to open a thread they don't want to read or look at. This community is really a big enough place, that I am sure there is really room for everybody that wants to be here, and I, for one, would love to see more variety, both in terms of dolls, and owners. Of course, Volks is going to do what Volks is going to do, but if they ever do choose to make vinyl boys at some point, I will certainly welcome them wholeheartedly. jadepixel Posted August 18, 2014 This thread got me thinking, and what I believe Volks should do is release an androgynous body ;D It'd be perfect for the trap characters that are popular lately. Then you could also get more specifically male or female busts to fit if you prefer. It's not what everybody wants but it seems like a step in the right direction. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
