Volks USA closes their doors 3/30/14 [Website to remain!]

Too bad the only way to get Volks to do a small sale involves a store shutting down.

 

It was so nice getting a small discount on some of these items. I wish Volks would try to incorporate a sale on some standard items maybe once a year. It would make the hobby a bit more enjoyable not having to pay retail every time we need a basic item.

 

I look forward to the new website for Volks US. It's still too bad and sad the store had to close.

Some customers might be experiencing that items are being removed from their cart when going to make a purchase.

 

Unfortunately, the current cart system allows other customers to "take" items from other customers carts. For example, if two customers were to be buying the same item at the same time, the customer who clicks confirm/pay first will get the item. We do not find this cart system to be fair for our customers

 

Due to this issue we are discontinuing our future web-store services through our current provider, and switching to another service and cart system.

 

NEW SITE WITH NEW CART CONFIRMED! Doesn't make this current sale any nicer, but I am VERY glad to hear that the long term plan is to replace this stupid thing.

Amen and hell yeah! There were really only two issues I had with the system they used and THIS was the biggest one. Having just this change is a huge thing to me. I'm so glad it's going to go away!

 

The other thing I despise is shipping costs. Today I was able to get some things, all relatively small like hands, and shipping was $21 and change! That is just so not cool. Everything I got could EASILY fit into one of those USPS Priority Mail presized boxes for $10. And it would get to me FASTER that way too. So if Volks is serious about making it's North American customers happy and willing to buy more from them, then they will change this issue as well.

 

I really do hope Volks steps up and fixes these issues in the future. They already get a bunch of my money but with just those two changes I listed above, I'd spend even more with them.

Aww, boo... Just got this email from them:

 

Thank you for your recent order through our website.

 

We are contacting you because unfortunately one of the items which

you ordered is out of stock.

 

We are currently completely sold out of "Evangelion" Sohryu Asuka Langley

"Plugsuit" Version. As this was a limited item we most

likely will not be receiving any more stock of them.

 

Although we try our best to avoid this kind of problem sometimes they

do occur. It is especially difficult during web store events when many

people are trying to order the same items at once. Yahoo's system simply

can not keep up.

 

We are sorry for any disappointment caused by this matter.

 

What would you like to do regarding your order? We are happy to make

adjustments at this point.

 

We can substitute a different item, or we can ship it as it is without it.

 

Until we hear from you, your order is on hold. Once we do, we will make

any necessary changes and process our order.

That's a bummer, AsianEd. (Hopefully that new cart will prevent this in the future!) I hope you can come to a satisfactory solution.

 

Out of curiosity, how long was it between your order being placed and them sending you that notification?

I still haven't gotten my confirmation and it's been a whole day I really hope it comes soon, I'm starting to worry.

I just got an email that one item from my order was sold out... fortunately it was just a back issue of Volks News. Still, it seems like there may be some more disappointments as orders and limited stock get out of sync.

Man, now I'm a little worried. I did get an auto-confirm after I placed my order, but it's starting to sound like things are hectic enough those aren't always accurate. Ah well. Even just some items at a discount is better than none!

 

EDIT: Lost the SWS gripping hands but still get the 03 head and the SWS pointing hands. Replaced the gripping hands with SWS fist hands, so. . .that's something. Besides, they're for Miku, so even if I wait for the new site to go up I'll still have several months to nab the gripping.

I kinda suspect this to happen so i try to rush my shopping as fast as possible. Luckily i didn't have much to spare either so the choices were obvious :p

 

Shipping definitely needs improvement. I never like UPS in the first place. They always move at odd hours and my package always end up at the post office.

For someone that just say "US shipping only", i'm pretty sure i saw USPS international shipping as well (though it says Mexico only?)

 

But overall, i have to admit VolksUSA website is beautiful and is easy to navigate. The Volks international website is however...

Now if only they update the status more often... That saddle type C and pin vise were in stock for forever before i check them out T_T

Yeah, I agree, the USA breadcrumbs and cross-referencing rock. The International site's navigation was probably functional once upon a time, but by now it's turned into a horrible dysfunctional mutant. Actually, they've kind of had inverse issues--USA had great navigation but a terrible cart, and International had a great cart and terrible navigation.
