Wigs with animal ears.

Hello. Dumb newbie question ahead.

 

I'm planning a custom Dollfie (my first) and am curious how people tackle animal ears. I want them to look like part of the hair, not an extra "cosplay" style band. I have absolutely zero crafting talent, so will not be doing any complex work myself, but I am wondering if there are any sites that sell such "mimi" wigs pre-made, or if there is an easy way in which to do it.

I like how the sculpted, resin animal ears that attach to doll heads magnetically look-- I think they fit the aesthetic of the cartoon-y features more than the wigs that have ears sewn to them. Here is a place that sells the wigs with ears sewn onto them:

They do not have a wig included. They use an elastic string so they are pretty easy to blend into a wig with styling. You could even add magnets if you wanted to make them completely band-free- most of the resin ears rely on magnets to stay in place.

Iv'e got a question on the magnets. I have BJD's with magnetic ears and the opposing magnets are glued onto inside of head cap. With DD I am wondering what types of glue work for the inside of the head cap, and if there are any glues to stay away from. thanks..

When I've done magnetic ears on DD and other dolls without the head magnets, I just used low-tack tape on the outside of the headcap to hold them on. You could also tape magnets to the inside of the wig cap if you don't want tape on your DD.

Mashiro's use a ribbon with Velcro. I've heard that some people have removed the ribbon and added magnets, but I'd rather not damage my set.

 

I have the magnets taped to the heads with regular Scotch tape for my Suijin sets too. No problems at all. It's also easy to flip the magnet if you accidentally reverse polarities when gluing the ear magnet on. The magnets aren't noticeable at all.

With adding magnets you can put them under the wig on the head with some putty that way you dont have to glue any, not sure if it would work with a tight wig though!
