Reintroduction

I worry I may have said or did something wrong since nobody responded the first time - if I did, please tell me!

 

I was just afraid to post anything else since I have social anxiety and having no replies but many views freaked me out - I'm better than I used to be but I still have problems with it sometimes. I hope you guys can forgive me. I really want to be here so I gathered my courage to redo my post. ^^

 

But, let me reintroduce myself, if that's okay.

 

I collected resin BJDs for a while, but always wanted a DD, especially after working on a friend's Yukino. I'm not really interested in them anymore and now want to collect only DDs - I want custom ones, but right now I'm saving up for an unopened DDS Marisa Kirisame I found that doesn't seem to be going anywhere. XD

 

I hope it's okay I did this. I'm sorry if this makes me seem like a weirdo.

I will definitely share when I get her. I kept thinking all of the Touhou girls were beyond my reach but I'll be so happy when I get her. I wonder if I have any chance of getting Youmu as well...hmm...

Hello. I'm also new here (and to dolls entirely, unlike you).

 

What made you want to switch from other dolls to DDs more specifically than just having seen a DD in person? Is there particular differences you find more appealing?

 

I've seen plenty of dolls, but only DDs have ever appealed to me. Probably because of the anime style faces keeping them out of the uncanny valley that most other dolls seem to fall in to. SD faces are super creepy and gross to me, for instance.

Then welcome to you as well! ^^ I read your thread and saw you came from the world of figures, I used to be really into Busou Shinki and collected lots of other random figures as well.

 

The reason why I switched is pretty much due to the aesthetics. I'm more partial to the anime style, and even the BJDs I had leaned more to that than the more realistic side. They never really looked how I wanted them to though, even when I painted them myself - and if I went too far into anime territory with their makeup, they just looked weird. I think I was basically trying to make them into something they weren't. I don't know why I didn't just start with DDs to begin with, honestly. I guess because I bought my first doll off a friend and it was resin, so I just went with that.

 

I can understand doll faces weirding you out, there are many people like that. It's okay, to each their own. ^^ Personally, I don't care much for the Volks SD faces either, the only one of theirs I really liked was SDGr Nono and that's because she's one of the most anime-styled. XD

I am also new here but have admired DDs for a while but don't currently own any. I really hope that you find Marisa! (She has such a cute face!)

I try my best to welcome new people, but sometimes I get busy (like everyone else from time to time) and the past week and a half I have been busy with some personal issues. But, I can understand if you thought that you may have not been welcome or said something wrong. So, everything is OK

 

I have Dollfies and resin dolls. My favorite doll isn't a Dollfie but my favorite doll forum is Dollfie Dreams. There are lots of great people here and a ton of good information.

I should apologize for not seeing your thread, because I have social anxiety too and know how you must have felt. I usually try to post in introduction threads that don't have any replies, but I was in hospital for a week or two. OTL Let's make up for lost time!

 

I wish you the best of the best of luck in getting Marisa. Are you a fan of Touhou Project? :3 (What came to mind suddenly was the meme "Marisa stole the precious thing" lololol) You'll definitely be able to get her with time and patience. Maybe a Reimu will happen into your arms later on. xD

I'm a big fan of Touhou actually! I like playing the games (official & fanmade) and listening to fanmade music the most, but I like every part of the fandom.

 

I may end up getting Youmu now that more pictures of her are floating around. So Marisa and the others might need to wait a bit. XD I guess it depends on how fast she shows up online for a decent price. I'd love to enter the lottery for her but I don't know of any way to do that - most shopping services don't do lotteries it seems. And the only individual I found willing to do it only accepts Paypal personal payments, which I think is unsafe. :c It makes me sad.
