Are DD owners cat or dog people?

Definitively im a dog person! Im a American Akita Breeder. And i love my pups to bits! They are like my children. They are very clever and smart. But they don't like go near my dolls. They know the dolls are my toys, so they don't get closer to them.

I'm really a cat person. I really like them and they are just always so cute and funny! :3

I used to be afraid of dogs when I was little, so yeah.

We can't really take a cat in the house though, some of us are allergic to it. Maybe I want to have one in the future. Funny thing, even I used to be allergic to them, but I kinda lost it by visiting my friends house with cats for years long.

If I had to choose probably cats. Their personality matches what I want better than dogs and I prefer to have a pet I don't need to take outside or come home to take outside.

 

I mean realistically I love all animals, but I'm more of a bird/fish/frogs/lizard person. I have a parrot I've had since I was 7 years old and I want more parrots. Some day I'll open a parrot rescue too.

 

But you know, cats are cool

While I love both dogs and cats, I'm definitely more of a dog person I grew up with a dog in the family (my parents had a Beagle from when I was born to when I was 9) and have always adored dogs for the way they can bond with their owners and be like real friends/family members! I got a Shetland Sheepdog when I was 14 and she's been my best friend ever since (she's almost 11 now). They say that every dog person will have one that feels like a soulmate and I'm quite sure that Tea is the one for me... We have a very special bond that can't really be described with words, it's like we share a mind! She's getting old, but I hope that we still get to spend some years together ^^

I am DEFINITELY a cat person. I can appreciate dogs, but at the end of the day... I prefer kitties. :3

I'm both, I lurve cats and dogs. No one asks if someone is a rabbit or guinea pig person do they? Its annoying when people try to pit cats and dogs against one another. I'm neither a cat or dog person, simply an animal person. Neither one is better than the other. I used to have a St Bernard who was best friends with my persian cat, they were inseparable and had a special bond. We nearly lost our cat when the dog died and he only survived thanks to our quick intervention at getting another dog. We did get two other cats but he wasn't interested in them. I don't have any cats now though, I have a chocolate labrador and several tropical fish.

Though I admit I prefer to admire cats from afar. Like how the poster above me is kind of scared of dogs...I'm a bit scared of cats for the same reasons. Growing up, all my friends' cats must've been feral or something. They were always hissing and scratching and biting. My friends all thought it was funny or cute while I found it terrifying. I've been scratched and bitten myself too. (Though it was my own fault. Didn't know I wasn't supposed to pet them on the stomach when they roll over.) So I developed a general distrust of them. I still like them plenty and don't think they're inferior to dogs at all, but they're too unpredictable for me to ever consider a cat as a pet for myself lol.

 

So I guess when it comes down to the choice of "cat or dog", I'm very much a dog person. I completely adore them. I've yet to meet a dog I didn't like.

We have three cats and a bun, so I'm guessing we're cat people in my house. Hubs and I have had dogs growing up, but both of us prefer living with cats heavily. Planning on adopting a second rabbit this year to bond with our current bun child. Bun and cat people here.

 

(We don't dislike dogs tho).

I'm a cat person. I can appreciate a well behaved dog (I had a wonderful dog as a kid, and also a cat) however I don't like strangers' dogs, am very bothered by loud noises (barking) and really think many dogs just smell very very bad. So cats are better for me. We just get along easily.

I'm definitely a dog person, and not a small dog person either. xD (although I'd like to own a Klee Kai someday!) They know better than to mess with my dolls or stuffed animals though. I have to introduce them to my stuff and say "this is mine. If you touch it, you die " I wish I could have a cat, they are so cute and have such attitude, but I am really allergic :c

 

It seems like there's a lot of "cat" accessories and stuff for BJD and a few wolf or dog related ones. I originally wanted to design "fursonas" for my dolls (I'm a furry, it was bound to happen eventually) and as much as I tried to stay away from the cliches, my Smart Doll, Mirai, ended up being a Kitsune and my DD Miku is a tanuki.

 

I guess I do kind of see my dolls as "pet-like"? Maybe more like they are my kids. I talk to them a little "please work with me while I put this dress on. UGH WHY WON'T YOU BEND. Your wig isn't on straight" but that's pretty much it haha~ Most of all, Mirai-chan is my princess and I just want to dote on her constantly. *weeps* If that's like a pet or a kid I'm not really sure ^^;

I grew up with cats, I like cats. Would maybe get a cat again some day. I have greyhounds. They are basically cats. Maybe some day I'll have cats again and not dogs. Maybe both. Maybe I'll get a capybara. I don't really have a preference either way.

 

I suspect there's so many dolls in cat costumes just because there's so many cat things available. I recently got that little set from Volks with the white cat ears, tail, and bloomers. I'm sure if it were a fox or something it'd sell equally well.

 

I guess it's fair to say that I view my dolls as pets in the sense that they are cute to look at, and fun to handle, and I feel like I need to take care of them. They all have names, personalities, styles, etc. but I definitely don't view them as sentient. They're just lovely 3D versions of fictional characters.

Ah! I love both, but my husband is not a cat person. We have two Corgi girls and they are the best dogs in the world! They're such goofballs and know how to cheer their mama up when I'm having a bad day

Cat household here. If she could, my wife would be a crazy cat lady with 1842 cats. Being new to the whole DD world, I'm not sure how I see my little girl yet. But I would love to find a nice nekomimi and tail set for Miku. Being I like to take photos, I'm sure she'll develop a personality of her own as the subject of my lens.

Our household has a cat. She's a calico named Zelda. She's my wife's cat, and she likes it that way.

I got cats before I got to the doll hobby. But he died becaue of FIP

My mom got a dog which I also take care of. I payd the half of him (mine are the fluffy soft ears and cute nose just to make clear ) and the food but he lifes with her. She doen't have a fulltime job anymore

 

I would have cats if we got a garden or a dog if I wouldn't work so much.
