SylvanJade Posted April 22, 2018 That's good advice! I don't really know much about dogs, so I guess I have some reading to do. I wonder how to convince my husband to get a poodle...somehow that may not sound manly enough
sinclair Posted April 23, 2018 Well poodles were originally hunting dogs. Can't more manly then that.
SylvanJade Posted April 23, 2018 Ha! I'm going to tell him that... Personally, I would like another cat, but I dunno. Maybe a dog would be an extra adventure. I just don't like it when they bark or jump. I suppose training lessons will be needed!
Cauldroness Posted April 23, 2018 100% TEAM POODLE CHECKING IN We have a miniature poodle, and we call her the "catdog" for good reason. ~She's about the same size as a cat (13lbs). ~She hates getting dirty (like a cat). ~She almost never barks (exception: she hates our doorbell and barks at that). ~She makes soft sighing noises when getting petted (her version of purring, essentially). ~She's fully potty trained and uses her doggy potty regularly (dog version of a litter box, essentially). She does still go outdoors and we do have to pick up after her, but her "business" is so tiny it's literally not a big deal. ~She spends the vast majority of her day sleeping, usually curled up in bed (like a cat). ~She never chews on anything except designated chew toys. I leave stuff out all the time and she's never damaged any of it. ~ Bonus: Doggie breath smells MUCH better than kittie breath. My husband was also very much a "I want a big manly dog like a lab or a husky" person initially, but after we adopted our poodle, he's 100% converted to team poodle and we're actually thinking about getting a second poodle. SylvanJade Posted April 24, 2018 Apparently, poodles are the way to go! It's funny, because when I think of poodle, I think of those stylized dogs that are powdered blue or pink with flashy gold collars. A quick google search shows me that's not normally what a poodle looks like. I heard golden doodles are really nice dogs too.
Cauldroness Posted April 24, 2018 Nah, no fantasy colors or flashy collars here. This is my fluffball hanging out next to Miku. 1 Doll Photos & Doll Jewelry Sales: Follow me on Instagram!
Kazumi Posted April 24, 2018 Cat person 200%. My ex-roommate was also a cat person and worked as a vet tech before changing careers. We used to joke about how we understood each other because we're cats at heart with similar temperaments. Telling my boyfriend when we first started dating that his man was a cat had him laughing. He didn't believe me. But one day it all clicked and out of the blue, he said "you really are a cat." I mean. Yeah. I want attention on my terms, I won't hesitate to judge you if you cross me, I deserve to be spoiled, and I'm very cute. \o/ Oh, and I like sleep. A lot. And it's not that I have an aversion to dogs. I love all animals. I like dogs, but I don't want to own one- maybe a pom if I did. My parents have had a poodle and a yorkshire terrier. The poodle has passed and he was a great dog. The yorkshire terrier is a spitfire, and I love it when I visit my parents and she gets in bed with me while I'm sleeping in. Dogs are just too much effort for where I am in life right now. But I've grown up around them and love them. But large dogs... I'm probably strange- I like visiting large dogs, but I don't like getting flopped on when I'm trying to do something like rest by a huge weight. Still love 'em. Just don't want one. :< Lots of people love Like with kids, I prefer to leave them with their parents at the end of the day. No. Give me a cat that will be as independent as I am but will cuddle when I'm feeling down. I have raised 3 from kitten-hood and they're all well-adjusted, sociable cats at this point. One even sits next to me while I play video games. Cute litten-kitten. I might be adopting a 4th when I get back to the states. I'm going to become a crazy cat man. @Cauldroness, your doggo is amazing 10/10. so adorable. the pupper deserves all of the love. Noxxbunny Posted April 24, 2018 Another one who will sneakily suggest toy poodles. I had the chance to adopt a toy poodle puppy from a friend whose dog had an accidental litter...I ended up not doing it and I honestly have regretted it every day since. That little puppy was something special and I certainly missed out on her. She melted my heart when she just crawled right into my arms and fell asleep like she'd known me forever. And we had just met Wouldn't say all of them are cat-like though. The mother of the puppy is very much a dog lol. But in a good way. Follows her owner everywhere, sits with him on the couch. Not much of a barker. Very smart, but listens well because of it. Still enjoys playing with toys and the usual dog activities. But every animal is different. It's all about picking a dog with a good temperment. His parents even own the parents of his dog and the father was a little terror. Very mean. Even though he was raised the same way as all the others. That's a perk in adopting a dog who's a little older too. Easier to know their personality at that point and pick what suits your lifestyle. PrinceMonochrome Posted June 6, 2018 I'm very much a dog person since I've had a couple dogs. My first one was a lhasa apso. We adopted him when he was eight and he was so calm and loving on his terms. If he didn't want attention, he'd just go to his bed or hide under my bed. My new dog is a Maltipoo that we just adopted about a year ago when he was two. He's just the opposite of my first dog. He loves attention and he's always on my lap trying to push my phone or PS4 controller out of my hand. He's definitely got a lot more energy. I do love cats though but I've never owned one because of my allergies. It seems like cats are really attracted to me as every time I visit my family or any of my friends that own cats. They'll say things like "we haven't seen her for a few hours" and moments later there's the cat rubbing against me and then trying to sit next to me. I've even woken up at a relatives house with their cat sleeping next to my head. As for dolls, I like seeing them with any types of ears and tails. Ears and tails make them look really cute. Galvatim Posted June 6, 2018 We got a puppy late last year. 20180426_121752 by Tim Solberg, on Flickr image-20180531_185543 by Tim Solberg, on Flickr Her name is Maggie. She can be a trouble maker, but she's great. I have no problem with cats, but I don't think I'd get one.
cfx Posted June 6, 2018 I'm too anal with stuff to own any pet but I like cats. Can't stand dogs and well, for those who've watched Idolmaster, Yukiho and Producer-san around dogs? That's me exactly. Also have tons of allergies so there's that.
sinclair Posted June 7, 2018 I do love cats though but I've never owned one because of my allergies. I've even woken up at a relatives house with their cat sleeping next to my head. As a cat owner I can tell you why that is. Cats are just little adorably cute fur balls of pure evil. They know you are allergic and come to your for that reason. One of my aunts (Not by blood, but she was my aunt's best friend so we called her aunt as well as they were always together.) is allergic to cats, like sneeze as soon as they enter a room a cat has been in allergic, and if she ever came over the family cat would make a beeline right for her, only person the cat would do that to. SuzzetteMarmalade Posted August 13, 2018 I love dogs, so I'm definitely a dog person, I do like cats, but their not my favorite, probably my third favorite, my second are goats, if you're wondering (my family owns like 6, but one is have three more babies) Dogs are playful though, and do like to eat and bite things, they, over the years, have eaten/bit my other dolls (only like barbies when I was little) but could potentially bite your DDs, or other types. Sunnie Posted August 17, 2018 Cat person for sure! I'm definitely biased since I grew up with them in the household, but dogs are adorable too. My fiance's a dog person though, so when we get a house in the future, we'll probably have one of each. When I met him he said he hated cats, and now he comes home from work and kisses our kitten we got together a couple of years ago, hehe~
gigglesky Posted October 25, 2018 I'm a dog person! I own one corgi and she is super comfortable around dolls. It's actually surprised me as I'm so obsessed with doggies but my first DD girl has an image of a rabbit. I saw many DD owners dress their dolls with either cat or fox, rarely see dog. RainbowNanaki Posted October 25, 2018 I love most animals, and I currently own 2 dogs and 1 cat. Although, if put in a situation where I could only have one pet, it would be a cat since they're more independent. It would be nice to stay overnight at a friend's place without having to arrange for someone to let the dogs out. And as for dressing up my dolls...Honestly, I think a wolf would come before anything else for me! He/Him --- I like making stuff --- Please don't make sexual/lewd comments about my dolls, thank you! Silent Posted October 28, 2018 We used to have two dogs. But I did not own any dollfie in that age. Our household had never cat and never will. We have rabbit. Does it count?
AwkwardMango Posted December 10, 2018 I'm more of a cat person since they smell better and are more independent. Though I do like certain dog breeds like cavalier king Charles spaniel and Pomeranian (they are so cute and floofy).
Testament Posted December 11, 2018 I love both dogs and cats. But dogs need more attentions, and often there's no one around at home. So we have 3 cats! And I was allergic, but with them I'm allergic no more... Only with other cats ò_ò'
Hollytastic Posted February 21, 2019 I have... 7 cats right now (one is my boyfriend's cat). So, I'd say I'm a cat person. Though I really loved my dog a lot. He actually passed away about a month ago... I miss him so much.
lildollface Posted March 21, 2019 I can't pick, I love both! However, I'm allergic to dogs and would need to adopt breeds that are allergy-friendly, or breeds that are very low-maintenance in grooming. Coincidentally, I own a maltese/chihuahua mix that checks off both requirements 😂 Sadly, I can't own any cats atm since I live with my grandparents. My grandmother is highly afraid of most cats due to traumatic incidents in her childhood. Not to mention, we own so many things on shelves and on counter tops that we'd be terrified of cats knocking things over! On the flip side though, we also own a canary, and have owned rabbits in the past.
Dollink Posted March 21, 2019 I love both, I have 2 cats and 2 dogs (samoyed and sighthound), if I had enough time and money I think my house would be full of animals 😅
Ikataru Posted March 25, 2019 I am personally a cat person. I love my furbabies for sure!!!! As for my dolls, I have noticed that I would use more "kitty" like things for them. Cat ears, closed fist nyan style hands .... I don't think I've ever had any doll that I gave any type of dog-like things/features.
