Its such ashame they dont have a volks store in Europe somewhere. Since joining this group I've really noticed there are alot of dollfie dream hobbyists in the EU. It would be awesome for releases to meet up and also for doll meets.

Well I can dream ^^

And not mentioning cheaper/faster shipping, no customs...

Yesss we need one in London, it would be a amazing! Though I do worry that it would have the same fate as the US store.

Yes shipping would be much more reasonable.

But on the flip side indeed it might have the same problem as the store in the US

Its not fair

At least an online shop (that's not closing on the usa i believe) could be enough for us...

They could just rent hotel/conference centers for events and such.

I wonder if it's possible for some of the European dealers to get some kind of distribution relationship with Volks? Worth asking though, maybe? :>? Since all of the European BJD dealers focus on resin dolls, perhaps they haven't considered tapping into the anime BJD market yet (save for that one dealer-- French, I think-- that stocks SQ Lab).

I'm not sure! I'd imagine it would take quite a bit of capital to start up, though. :> Why not contact them?

Sorry about the wall of text!

So first thing, not anyone can just become a Volks dealers.

The only distributor in the USA gained a relationship with them years ago. Since then, they haven't gained more dealers. The chances are you would have to have an established shop/dealership as well. From what I know We Love Dolls (WLD) and Kerbey Lane (KL) had both been already in the business for years before becoming dealers. As I haven't seen anyone, including any of the other USA dealerships (Such as Denver Doll Emporium which is big) appear as legit Volks dealers, I would say it is safe to say that they don't offer that anymore.

WLD isn't the normal kind of dealer either, nor was KL. They essentially were just a way to spread out chances to get items during lotteries or any other events. They only have things in stock when people didn't claim them after winning. But otherwise? They didn't have excess stock. Their not given any.

I think the big thing that ruins Europe when it comes to trying to establish a business like Volks is that you have to pay an import tax, and from my understand it is far higher than what we charge in the USA (zero to 20% max mattering on what what it is in the USA). From what I can see, you pay no matter what and their rates are...high. They don't even seem to have solid percentage range they charge, which is terrifying. I know that each country is different, but the rates start high and just keep getting higher. Business wise, you don't pay that sort of money unless you really are making the right amount back.

The other thing is if you ask Volks to devalue their dolls they will say no. They start higher than a lot of dolls too. I don't know how the dealers in the EU work, so you'd have to ask them how they afford it. Maybe they have a special tax that isn't as much. Maybe items are devalued. I have no way of knowing.

I think if you want to know you need to A) Ask the EU dealers. See what they do. B) Ask Volks. Don't get your hopes up though. They seem to sell everything pretty well on their own. From a business perspective, they don't give a damn about your troubles. Why should they? They sell what they have and that's all that matters. It is more cost-effective to remain with the business model they have where they just do events and have a few stores within Japan + the two websites. The USA got lucky. I would like to see other countries getting the same treatment but I don't put any hope in that.
