Was there any clarification in Volks News of the availability? Lottery or order? I am like others and just hoping, especially since USA doesn't have any options nowadays other than the International event. We used to have more chances. Oh well.

Gosh, I really hope it's preorder... It would be just cruel to make this a lottery when people voted on what dolls they wanted a second chance on. I'm not that hopeful though because if it's a preorder, wouldn't it be happening at the same time as the Macross Frontier one?

 

I was very lucky to get my Sasara and seeing people pining over her makes me sad. I hope many more will be able to enjoy her company after this.

 

(I would have preferred Yuki M, but this way at least I'm safe, lol)

I agree but the idea of Volks doing two pre orders seems pretty much impossible.

I think ( my own personal speculation) Yuki M will be up in the next round for DD girls so be ready.

As sakurasylph said above it'll be a lottery. There's only one pre-order project a year cause Volks doesn't have the manufacturing capacity to meet demand plus part of the popularity of DD's is that they are limited.

 

For the most part I've won some lotteries and even when I've lost I've been lucky enough to be able to get the doll on the aftermarket, where it is possible to get some dolls for good prices usually if vigilant.

 

The US has the same chances as the rest of the world.

They are the Dolpa32 dolls, so like all dolpa dolls these will be a limited items lottery. The AE is on January 17, so lottery entry will be around that time.

 

Volks mentioned, as we suspected also, that these are the winners of each poll category. Sasara got first place in the {DD, DDdy} category for example. So, true to their word, she got a re-release. They did NOT say, one way or the other, whether anything would be done with 2nd place or below in the future. For this we will just have to wait to find out.

yeah you can get gals in the aftermarket, but the idea of paying more than what a gal was released at gets old really quick. If you have the means, then the lottery results really mean nothing in the end I suppose. Vigilance comes up to luck and someone wanting to sell a doll at a reasonable price and not trying to make a big bit of profit on her or someone willing to shell out x2 or more.

 

But we'll just see. I've always wanted melty, she might be the only one that's got a good chance of winning bc of her outfit and plus her aftermarket hasn't been crazy like sasara or yukiho and the like. So maybe in time I can nab her

Well, never say never when it comes to Volks. If they did it it'd be severely limited in terms of who could participate, but they might offer something like that one day. For a price.

 

The night before the Kyoto 11 dolpa in March 2015, Volks is having a festival at company headquarters (not Sato, the actual headquarters). This is a SD event costing $160 a head for a fancy dinner and other sundry festivities. 150 people can participate. As an optional add-on, Volks is offering 2 people the chance to do a "Dream Full Choice". The participant will sit down with the make-up artist who will paint their SD and discuss detail directly with that person. And they'll be able to choose ANY limited head, skintone, body type, eyes, wigs, anything at all SD that's ever been made in any combination. That doll will cost the person $5,000 however.

 

Cool event, never say never, but you'll pay for it!

On the other hand, if they end up making the Sheryl and Ranka pre-order inside Japan only, they might be willing to do a second pre-order for the international community (as uncharacteristic for Volks as that would be.)

I have been in the game long enough to know that Volks has historically only done one pre-order project each year.

 

That doesn't stop international collectors who don't want to pay inflated prices or game the lottery system from hoping otherwise until the official word is out.

The White Album pre-order started in January 2010, and then the Touhou pre-order started in September 2010. The White Album was Japan & international, while Touhou was Japan-only. This was after the Gurren Lagen preorder (opened April 2009), and followed by the Saber preorder (opened September 2011). But they've only had one a year since then.

well with the speculation of the Macross gals being Japan only... who knows, they might do a dual preorder this go around. It just would be silly to have a 'fan' selection and have it be cutthroat lottery. Surely theyre aware of the skew against the scalpers who resell.

 

I just wish Melty had a more ice queen fairy set up. With her hair and make up, eh, red and green just kinda clash. Had they gone like a snow miku style colorscheme... that would be so pretty.

 

here's hoping Volks does something different, I have so much love/money to give (but to them only and not some 3rd party dude lol)

The DD blog just updated announcing again (since they have already done so via Twitter & the Volks News 61) that Sasara & Melty are the Dolpa 32 Limited DDs. Once Dolpa 32 in December is over the After Event (1/17/15 according to a scan from Volks News 61) is going to be fierce! Had I not already gotten my Maki (Melty) from my good friend Jezatron I would've definitely been going nuts over Melty Christmas Version. I'll be throwing my entry in for Sasara for another good friend of mine who has been waiting a long time for Sasara to be re-released

I actually assumed that because they were listed in the Volks News regularly, plus they're likely going to release the Volks Character Models the same way. I do wonder what they will be doing with all the excess production capacity from Miku though, unless they planned to discard it from the start. That's a bit expensive since they must have ramped up a lot, but maybe it was just worth it.

So I guess Sasara and Melty being re-released is the big poll result news but what about the results from the other polls? Has anyone seen or heard anything? As far as I can tell the voting ended early october? Can't find anything on Volks' international web.

We only know the dolls and November/December outfits so far. Looks like the next few outfit collections will each have a few of the rereleased outfits but they haven't been revealed yet. We don't know the Volks character DD re-release yet, but it's probably Mariko. Maybe they're saving that news for one of the DD-only events.
