finnleo Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Ever since watching Princess Tutu, I've been wanting to do some ballet type shots... But being ballet its always going to be a bit of a best effort thing, since getting a DD to do Pointé is pushing it a bit. Nevertheless decided to have a go, and see whats what with a DD3... and finding out Melty's sandals arent the best choise for this sort of thing.. heh. Also, this time decided to be all artistic and leave the photos black and white for the nice contrast... Hope you like: ballerina000 ballerina001 ballerina002 ballerina003 ballerina004 ballerina005 ballerina006 ballerina007 Round 2 Edit after deciding to retry the proper start pose, I also thaught about adding a partner for mi'lady, and Beatrice slipped into something familiar, for a Princess Kraehe of sorts, since this all kicked off with Princess Tutu. For a added effect, I plonked Arttuuria on Meltys DDS body for a little height difference, letting me get just a bit closer to near pointe poses. I also went a little bonkers this time with snaps and perhaps even poses, but if you start then whynot go the full haul. Unfortunately the sun kept itself in the clouds, so the lighting isnt as good... ballerina008 ballerina009 ballerina010 ballerina011 ballerina012 ballerina013 ballerina014 ballerina015 ballerina016 ballerina017 ballerina018 ballerina019 ballerina020 ballerina021 ballerina022 ballerina023 Thanks for watching.. Innocentsake Posted March 1, 2014 Princess Tutu is such a wonderful anime. It really deserves more attention You did a great job with this photo set. My favorites have to be the last 3 especially the last one where she is relaxing
finnleo Posted March 1, 2014 Princess Tutu is such a wonderful anime. It really deserves more attention You did a great job with this photo set. My favorites have to be the last 3 especially the last one where she is relaxing Mmm, Tutu is indeed best described as wonderful, especially the dance sequences which can be very beautifull -- and with the side order of Ahiru-comedy. And thank you. I wish I could say it all went as planned, since I was merely after a teaseresque shadow silouette of the first pose, but not enough light for that to happen, and as a result decided to see what could be done. Also glad you like the second to last one, since that was the hardest to balance with the feet right by eachother.. I was even trying for a true one legged stand, but thats just not going to happen without some means of smoke and mirrors apparently.
DivinitaAria Posted March 1, 2014 I really like this photo set Especially the order in which you placed the photos, like she's showing us her routine. I especially like the last two photos Rise - Rise // Rise #2 - Rise // Ritsuko - 2B // Momo - M.O.M.O. // Nayuki -Mikuru // Romi - 09 // Makoto - Sailor Jupiter // Mikasa - DD07 (WIP) Waiting on: DDH-25 for custom Akechi 🥰
Minuette Posted March 1, 2014 I love love love that last photo! She looks so demure. Though, and anyone who actually does ballet is free to correct me... I don't think there are any foot positions in which the toes face in?

Though, and anyone who actually does ballet is free to correct me... I don't think there are any foot positions in which the toes face in? Actually I believe I made a fumble with the starting pose, mostly that the legs should probably be crossed. as seen here Goes to show shouldnt do things from memory alone, all I remembered was the feet pointing in opposite directions like this in Tutu's start pose. Still probably some of the least painfull things to do in ballet.
Minuette Posted March 2, 2014 Ahhh serves me right, haha. I forget that a proper ballet turn out does look like that. Silly me. Your photos are still gorgeous!
finnleo Posted March 2, 2014 Ahhh serves me right, haha. I forget that a proper ballet turn out does look like that. Silly me. Your photos are still gorgeous! Mm, no worries, since because it was indeed a sort of but not quite pose, it was a valid point to make. Will have to see if the great big lightbulb in the sky shows up tomorrow again so can try the actual pose, maybe some others. And thank you again. Edit: Added another batch of photos, for a pair dance this time... see first post.
mitsuki Posted March 3, 2014 Those are amazing photos! That is such a creative idea. The monochromatic theme is so elegant and refreshing. It makes the textures pop out that much more. Beautiful poses! I don't know anything about ballet but they look so graceful.
Cauldroness Posted March 3, 2014 You must have insane patience, to do all those poses! There's such a great sense of movement and grace; I know absolutely nothing about ballet but it looks absolutely elegant. How the heck did you do the tip-toe poses without everyone toppling in a giant heap? Doll Photos & Doll Jewelry Sales: Follow me on Instagram!
finnleo Posted March 4, 2014 Those are amazing photos! That is such a creative idea. The monochromatic theme is so elegant and refreshing. It makes the textures pop out that much more. Beautiful poses! I don't know anything about ballet but they look so graceful. Thank you. Mmm, I also took colored versions of the photos, but they really didnt look as nice, the backdrop was a very cold blue colored due to the sun keeping itself in the clouds, as opposed to a bright warm white when Saber was doing her solo the day before. You must have insane patience, to do all those poses! There's such a great sense of movement and grace; I know absolutely nothing about ballet but it looks absolutely elegant. How the heck did you do the tip-toe poses without everyone toppling in a giant heap? Thanks. This was a two hour shoot from the first photo to the last with Beatrice and Saber, and a little under an hour for Sabers solo, so they didnt quite go into place themselves, despite politely asking them to dance for me, and they did take dives to the floor a few more times than Id be willing to admit. The DDS was a bit annoying since it really did not want to cross its legs compared to a DD2 or 3. And in this sense I had a bit of a sqeal when I came to do photo #20, which is just a angle shift from #16 that it looks just about right with Saber on her toes, and the legs looking like their crossed, but not quite in reality. Saber was also on melty's unitorso so even afterwards when I thaught I should have tried to arch her back more in the dip photo, I probably couldnt have done it. I dont want to sound boring with geometry and physics, but their feet (either by their own, or combined and linked by their hands) always form atleast a kind of triangle, and the rest is up to the ankles being able to support this. For sabers more impressive tip-toeing and the one legged stand she's balanced as good as possible, and Beatrice acts as an anchor to steady her out. The one legged stand was a frustrating one since I just could not get it done without any outside support (the hip joints going floppy on the DDS didnt help), so thats why I thaught of adding a dance partner to be that support. I reached my posing, and the bodies limits with trying to get the both of them to hold hands and be both on their toes, but Beats ankles werent strong enough for that, so instead you just have saber tip toeing. But you shouldnt worry too much about not knowing anything about ballet, besides watching a animated series on the subject I dont really know anything, so considering the search hits these are getting on flickr, I imagine there might be a few facepalms happening.. heh.
