-Mei Posted March 14, 2014 Hello everyone ^^, I'm about to adopt my first waifu daughter. Since VolksUSA store is closing down and having a sale soon, i'm wondering what necessity i should get? For example the head cap and body suit? Possibly the stand also? Regarding of head cap, does the silicone one provide more protection than the cloth one? waha Posted March 14, 2014 Keep in mind it's just the physical store that is closing down, not the web store. It'll just be down for some maintenance/etc. Regarding head caps, silicone head caps provide less protection than cloth ones but they're useful in making sure the wig doesn't fall off. Sometimes you can use both to be on the safe side (For example with some evil Volks wigs that have dark wig caps). It's always a good idea to invest in a stand, keep in mind what kind of clothes your girl will be wearing before you decide though. Personally I'm not one for body stockings, especially not Volks own ones. I'd recommend looking at Coolcat for those instead because you can find stockings that are smaller and cover less of the body. That way the stocking won't show (for example with bare arms/legs). -Mei Posted March 14, 2014 And here i thought that silicone must be better D: Also i heard about wig stopper. It's like some velcro tape that will keep the wig in place? I have seen Coolcat stocking, but they still seem too big (*cough. Sakuya default outfit exposes too much~) so i still don't know which one should i get. How bad can the stain get though? And the most important thing to keep clean is still the head right? Since you can buy replacement for body.
waha Posted March 14, 2014 Personally I found the wig stopper to be a royal pain in the ass to deal with. Regarding stains, some stains can get really bad but usually you can treat them. Personally I like stain testing my outfits/etc before I put them on. I tend to use a blank head for it.
foo Posted March 14, 2014 The silicone head caps don't provide any protection against staining, the dye goes straight through them. For protecting the body, Volks has body stockings & body suits. The body stocking doesn't really protect much since it's a mesh, it just reduces the amount of stain that will get to the doll. So if you put on clothes that are definitely going to stain, the body stocking will just prevent it from being really bad. The head is more important than the body, but getting a stain on the body is a pain in the butt to deal with so you want to avoid it. If you're going to put on any clothes that are really black, wash them several times first. And still use a body suit. If it doesn't stain the body suit at all after a week it might be safe. At least it has in my experience For a stand, if your girl has long hair, getting a stand that goes around the waist is not going to work well, a U-type stand is much better. It's also more useful when dressing the doll because it's really stable. U-type stands don't look great if your girl's not wearing a skirt though. How bad can the stain get though? The Volks black semi-gloss socks stained quite a bit despite the fact that I was using a body stocking and that I had washed them once, and that it had only been on for a few days. Black stains unfortunately can take a long time to get out, even if they don't seem that bad. I probably spent over a week trying to get it clean. Not fun. -Mei Posted March 14, 2014 Thank you for the useful guide This will be be a pain though, since i really like dark clothing = ) About the body suit, the color is just personal preference or does it actually provide different amount of protection? For example the white vs skin color one?

Yukamina Posted March 20, 2014 I tried using velcro to keep my girl's wig on her head one time, but when I checked it, it was very sticky/liquidy on the sticky side of the velcro. It seemed to have had a chemical reaction with the vinyl, so I've avoided that method. Masking tape on vinyl seems to be fine, though (I use tape to hold magnets on for fantasy horns). -Mei Posted March 23, 2014 Thanks for the advice, i will just get a silicon cap along with the cloth one then Mhm another question, what is the difference between "large hand" and normal one? Is it referring to the actual size of the hand or the movement of the pose; for example large hand sword holding has larger opening so you can hold bigger sword? If anyone has pic reference i would be much appreciate :p
Poofiemus Posted March 23, 2014 It's actual hand size. The "regular" hands are smaller and daintier than the large. Difference is purely aesthetic, though I will say you probably want to be consistent on any one given girl. Don't want your girl to be lopsided with a large pointing hand and a small gripping hand or something! In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser. -Mei Posted March 23, 2014 That would be really funny How would it turn out though? Taking body proportion into consideration
SisterKyoya Posted April 2, 2014 This is purely just my opinion, but the pictures I've seen of the large hands just looks so... manly. Apparently they are supposed to be more properly in proportion to the DD bodies than the regular ones, but I'm used to the regular dainty hands. I have a couple of older DD boys that might not mind the large version though... ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
carbon1903 Posted July 15, 2014 It's me again, although for some reason my old account is deactivated and i couldn't contact the administrator, so i have to make a new one:( Regarding hand, does the big one fit easier than the small one? In the aspect that it can easily slip over the wrist joint? I have some hands that i order during the VolksUSA sale, but they are so tight (wrist joint is exposed) compare to Sakuya original hand, even though i tried to soften it with hair dryer? foo Posted July 15, 2014 I have some hands that i order during the VolksUSA sale, but they are so tight (wrist joint is exposed) compare to Sakuya original hand, even though i tried to soften it with hair dryer? I noticed my Sakuya original hands are really easy to fit as well. Other hands vary with how hard they are to put on; for others I definitely have to spend time using a hair dryer to get them to fit nicely. Even then it's still not easy.
