twinage Posted March 14, 2014 I wonder how much DD head and body weigh? Preferably in nude, just head(+eyes) and body (DD2 or DD3). I'm thinking about how to bring my first daughter if I traveling, with plane and other transportation as well. And I bring her with me to convention and meet-up. Note: This is all still my delusion and hope
-Mei Posted March 14, 2014 I'm not sure how fat heavy a DD is but a full package of her shipping from Japan (including wrapper. foam protect..etc) is around 2500g. So i think it shouldn't be that heavy to carry her around. You see Danny walking with Mirai on his arms all days If you are transporting her, i wouldn't trust others to handle my girl. Probably get a DD case and carry it yourself? Personally i really like the violin case and planning to make one soon.
twinage Posted March 15, 2014 Thank you very much and yes, I was actually aiming to be similar with Danny, bringing doll in my arm It just that I'm taking a caution in case if my arm and hand sore, I would like to place it inside carry-on luggage, but not a DD bag or violin since I can't bring 2 carry-on luggage. And since carry-on luggage has a maximum weigh, I would like yo know the approximate weight.
Yukamina Posted March 15, 2014 I weighed my girl, she's 0.8 kg I took a DD to an anime convention and carried her around. I didn't find it to be a strain, but I did bring a bag to tuck her away in when I need. My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt

I'm pretty sure that it won't have much difference since their height is almost the same. But just wondering...
Yukamina Posted March 16, 2014 DD3, M-bust, but that won't make a difference for carrying... My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt
twinage Posted March 16, 2014 Okay. thank you very much, really appreciate it
Jezrah Posted March 16, 2014 Why do you want a naked weight though? When I take a girl with me in my carryon I also take her extra outfits in the carryon. That way, even if I have a checked bag as well, I won't lose her things since they're harder to replace than my things. I've also carried a girl with me every day to a convention on my non-dominant arm, and they never become heavy like a resin will. The only inconvenience is not having both arms while shopping, but my local convention doesn't allow large bags in the dealer's area both for better traffic flow and also to deter shoplifting. So carry her it is.
twinage Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) Well, it is easier for me to know the true weight if it naked since clothes have different weight, not to mention armors like saber and kosmos. But of course, when I carry her, I will make her fully clothed with similar function as pillow, or maybe alice penguin costume I've seen resin SD girl with weight just around 1kg, which the difference is just 0.2 kg with DD and I think it doesn't make too much difference in my opinion Edited April 6, 2015 by Guest
Anna-neko Posted March 16, 2014 DD's weigh barely a kilo they aren't a strain to carry around at all. Especially if you have a bag to put them in while in-transit Last year I carried Saber around for 2 days of an anime convention and had no problems. On the first she was in her full armor which weighs more than she does (not kidding) and that was gettin tiresome by the end of the day.... but in a more contemporary dress she weighted almost nothing (seriously, for comparison, my purse with camera, 3DS, snacks and miscelany makeup things on my other arm felt heavier)
Yukamina Posted March 17, 2014 I think my SD size resin boy weighs 1.6kg or there abouts, so a DD is much easier for me to carry around. My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt
Poofiemus Posted March 17, 2014 Yeah, I've twice now carted Agatha around all day at Phoenix ComiCon (first time only went one day, second time Pancake insisted on being the one to go the second day). Her weight wasn't an issue at all. I did get a bit sore, but that's more because I have issues getting my left arm to pronate, so I ended up in some odd contortions trying to keep her safe. If you pay attention to good ergonomics, you'll be fine. I do second having a bag with you though, because there are times when you'll want someplace to put her. I sat Agatha on my backpack when I went into the bathroom, so she wouldn't be sitting directly on any grimy surfaces for instance. I was also glad to have the bag when I went out to lunch. (Reminds me I need to find a nice bag/satchel. I intend to dress up a bit for PCC this year, and the bright blue backpack SO does not go with the outfits I'm dusting off. ) In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser. twinage Posted March 17, 2014 I will bring a bag too in case my arm sore, not from the DD weight, but from the fixed position of my arm. I have bring a lot heavier item, almost 3kg, in the past while walking inside the big airport so DD should be lot of easier
