Rainie: "MOM! Hey Mom! You should make me more of these shirts because they fit great!"

 

Mommy: "Rainie take that off. That was a tester shirt for Tama and it is too short."

 

 

Rainie: "But look, I can move around in it just fine! No floppy bits to get in the way when I'm doing the obstacle course with the troops! And look! I can do great action shots too!"

 

Mommy: "Rainie, there is no Velcro in the back holding that together and I don't need you flashing your siblings!"

 

 

Rainie: "Ah, just look at how I can move in this thing! Almost as good as a swimming suit! Watch me do some jumping jacks!"

 

Mommy: "Rainie, put your arms down! Will you change out of that shirt if I promise to make you a new one that fits properly? I think I need to add a training bra onto my to do list as well."

 

Rainie: "Aw Mom, you're no fun."

 

 

Rainie: "Not bad, and the colors are good. What I really wanted was a rainbow shirt... with glitter! Now that would be awesome! Glitterified pink camo training outfit. I want you to make that too!"

 

Mommy: "Rainie, some days you can be impossible."

Well... She could easily blen in anywhere Yuriko and Sohi have been trying their hands at crafting. They both love using pink, and by the time their done both fabric and glitter are EVERYWHERE.

 

Otherwise, the camo is so you blend in, the pink is just cute, and the glitter is so if you ARE seen, you can just dash into the sunlight and blind your opponent.

I like this line (I don't need you flashing your siblings!") and she is a cutie.

Rainie will forever be adamant that she is a tomboy, and refuses to admit that she totally fangirls over Hello Kitty. So she makes up these elaborate plans to cover up the fact, and instead insists that she is helping to liberate the HK agents who want to defect. So since most of her 'missions' consist of infiltrating various local toy retailers, normal colored camo would actually stand out too much. In the middle of the froofy girl toys, no one would notice pink camo, especially if it had glitter.

 

There was one point that I just considered her my energetic girl who was a bit silly sometimes and always spoke her mind. In the years since she first appeared, she has 'informed' me of her other two siblings, Ringo who is here exact and literal opposite, and Ralph, who has since become to be the official WEIRDO of the house. As the days go by and she thinks up more plans... it has occurred to me that she did not escape the weird gene that her brother has in abundance. She merely makes things up for her convenience and somehow when she decides on it, it becomes a part of her logic. I'm sure she's convinced that a pink glitter camo outfit with an equally pink and glittery mustache is the most invisible outfit possible.

 

Due to Rainie's off the wall logic, I have yet to figure out how she, Ringo, & Ralph are actually related. Rainie refuses to be an MDD, Ringo wants to both be an MDD & an Obitsu , & Ralph's age keeps shifting all over the place. Rainie said he was her younger brother and that Ringo was her twin, but it could very well be that Ralph is her older brother and Ringo is her younger sister. Somehow none of this phases Rainie whatsoever.

 

If Ralph is the weirdo, Rainie is just bizarre. Rainie logic has no baring or basis in real logic.

I've noticed that more often recently Rainie has been asking for things in pink camo... Maybe since its camo that it isn't girly, despite that it is pink? Maybe she assumes hello Kitty would wear pink glittery camo? Rainie logic gives me a headache.

 

Thanks! The thing I love about the outfits is I can have lots of colors, but it's completely white inside so I don't have to keep checking them, waiting for the inevitable staining. I also have a pic of Bree in this outfit and it is much less revealing on the MDD who it was designed for.

Tama told me about that... and despite what Yuriko keeps insisting, that was not a good way to make a new shower curtain. Sohi is just useless to ask about it because all she does is stares and giggles at me. Although Moose-Moose's tail is fuzzy, it was not intended to be used as a paintbrush.

Thank you! I actually made both sets of clothes she's wearing, and the orange set is my own goofy doodles. I even have the rainbow shirt for her too, but I still need to cut it out and get it sewn.

I think its more that Rainie doesn't really think of herself as any gender, so things like being properly clothed are lost on her.

 

It has been really amazing seeing the clothes finished, and knowing that I did it all. Designing, pattern drafting, making the prints and other artwork, and getting it completed is a lot of hard work, but I love being able to make exactly what my DD kids want. I don't have to sit and search for outfits that are good enough, close enough, or anything like that but instead I can make things that state exactly who they are. To me, their clothes tell just as much of a story as a written story, allowing their personalities to come out even stronger. Then when I get some time to work on photo stories, the kids can really shine.

 

I really can't wait to get the color version of Dakota's new outfit ordered. I'm amazed when I think about how it will look because I can't think of an outfit that is more her.

There was one time that I had to put her in a long dress, and her wrath and complaining was so bad that I go out of my way to make sure it never happens again. Other than that and her silly antics often just crack me up.
