Till Troll Posted August 20, 2011 I've been tinkering with this jeans pattern for ages, and I am finally almost happy with it. Here is Meade wearing them, and a white top I made using the ducttape pattern method (sorry for sideways pictures, need to fix my website): This is dyed linen, so it took 3 vinegar washes and a trip through the washing machine before I was happy t let Meade try them on. They were originally a deeper, darker blue, but I like this colour much much better. I ended up washing all of this fabric to remove the excess dye, and was able to revitalise a faded blue human dress in the process Close up of the front: this was a test sewing so I haven't added proper fasteners to the front: I didn't even iron it after washing, sorry for the creases! And the back: I want to tweak the size of the back panels here, and in my next version (waiting on a serger as this material really /really/ frays) I'll add the back pockets. And as I've never introduced her, may I present my lovely DDdy DDH-02, Meade: (and in the background, Mr. Moggles, ginger cat extraordinaire)
baldylox Posted August 20, 2011 Aww! Meade is a cutie! I like her style too. The jeans are looking very nice! And they seem to fit well too. It's great you're doing so well making your own. There just aren't enuff nice jeans available out there for the DDdy girls. And that top is excellent! It looks so nice! How long did it take you to do that? And would you be interested in making one or two more for me to purchase for my DDdy girls? I love that type shirt, it's really cool. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
scripple Posted August 20, 2011 Nice work. I like the patterning of the seams on the back. Check out my new DollFun website. Share your own doll photos with free image hosting.

I really like the way the jeans fit Meade's bum, I don't know whether it's obvious in the pictures, but it follows her curves very nicely! I want to raise the divide between the back panels and the trousers a bit, to make more room for pockets. This is the 3rd draft: there was a plain cotton version to check the trouser shape, and a denim version that suffered from the material being too thick, before this one Billy: The top definitely shows off Meade's assets, and was quick to make. It's made out of white t-shirt material, from a pattern made using the ducttape method: you wrap the doll in clingfilm (saran wrap), then thin strips of ducttape, mark the shape of the top you want and where you want the seams to be, and cut it along off the doll along the seams. Then you add darts where needed to make the pattern lie flat on paper. This pattern doesn't need any darts, just some basic gathering under the bust. This method is really good for tight fitting clothes, just don't forget to add a few mm for ease on the final pattern! I have a new sewing machine and serger coming at the end of next month, and a major work deadline (final thesis corrections submission!) coming up, so if you can wait for a couple of months, I have plenty of t-shirt material left over, and I'll make you a couple . I like the style and the details on them. It's hard to make them right for the DDdy bum. You look to have it about right! That would be great! I'm in no rush and sure don't want you to be. Simple is good! =3 Just let me know when you get around to it and we'll go from there. Thank you so much for agreeing to hook my girls up! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
PrettyCranium Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) Wow, amazing top and jeans! I'm jealous of your skills. I made a basic t-shirt and tank top (no dartsor anything) and it took forever. Also, the t-shirt fabric kept getting "eaten" by my machine. The duct tape method sounds interesting, but I'd be worried about cutting my doll when cutting the tape off, I'm pretty clumsy. I'd be interesting in buying a top if you sell in the future. Also, Meade is kawaiiiiiiiii! Did you do her face-up? Edited August 20, 2011 by Guest
Suzuna Posted August 20, 2011 The top is SO cute. I can't wait to see the jeans all finished!
Waynio Posted August 21, 2011 She is so adorable!!! Great job on the jeans and top!! I defiantly would buy a pair of the jeans and top if you would make them to sell. I just may have to convert Aoi to the Dddy body i have so she can wear this outfit unless you can make them for a DDII body L bust!?! Wayne
