New Anime Style Doll Company - 2D Doll

I stumbled upon this. A new company making resin anime style dolls. Can anyone find the official website? It might only be in Chinese maybe?

I wonder do they sell the heads separately. The bodies are a non-standard measurement (24cm chest / 28.5cm hips) that would be hard to find clothes for.

Very cute! They're much chunkier than most dolls in the 1/3 lady range-- they are most comparable with DDdy. From top to bottom, height is 1.5cm taller, bust is 2.5cm smaller, waist is the same, hips are 1cm wider, and finally legs are .5cm longer.

 

Perhaps they could wear L-bust DD tops and DDdy bottoms?

...I wanna like this body, but I just hate the boobs on it so much. ><;; The bubble affect is just too strong with this one.

 

She kind gives me the feel of some non-ABJD dolls (and leekeworld's) where she's going for the really small chest/shoulders look and then the huge hip, which I can like, but she's in a awkward place in between, and again it comes to those boobs. I think they seem to sit too high or something. I just can't like them. Unfortunately, I'm rather picky about boobs. They have to be at least tolerable.

 

Unfortunately, overall I don't aesthetically like them. They kinda got Volks current thing going on where everything seems just rather...bland. Unappealing, at least, imo. Also, AC is their only current dealer which means I'll forget they exist cause I don't do business with a company that sells bootleg products.

2/10 will not look at again.

I thought I had edited my post, but it looks like it didn't go through. I don't know if I'm just too suspicious these days, but I am side-eyeing these dolls a bit because the heads kind of look like modified Volks and Obitsu/Parabox heads to me.

 

The boobs are definitely too high-- the weird thing is that her shoulders are actually wider than most other 1/3 lady dolls at 10cm instead of the usual 8cm. I dislike boobs that sit too high too-- that's something that bothers me about a lot of resin BJD sculpts, haha.

 

From their postings on the website though, it looks like they may make some anime-style boy dolls though-- I look forward to that, at least.

The face sculpts are rather bland for the high price point. For $500 starting, you can get bjds like Luts or Crobi. EDIT - nevermind, it looks alike Alice Collections just has a very high mark up. Checked the price on the China site, and it is only around $320 USD on the current exch rate.

 

Chien - Unfortunately after a while I think all anime faces starts to look the same. Its only the hair and costume that differentiates LOL. However 2D Doll only seems to be representing maybe 2 different anime styles though really. For example, a few of them seem to be drawing from a Kyoto Animation style.

 

I think we need some more sculpts that draw from a style like the DDH-07 which has a more angular face, and maybe some with less circular eye holes (like evil villain characters).

Hm. Kind of have mixed feelings here. Their two open-mouthed 60cm girls are pretty cute (or would be with better faceups), but the others are sort of. . . unpolished. Several have their nose and mouth waaay too low so it kind of looks like they're sliding off the face. ^^; Plus the cheeks are way to puffy on several too, especially on their tinies; I know they were going for youthful cuteness, but instead it looks like they just got back from a spectacularly unskilled dentist. ^^;;; At least to me.

 

The body looks okay aesthetically to me, but there are two obvious problems: the exaggerated pear shape is going to be a HUGE pain to clothe, and looking at the various promo shots its posing doesn't seem to be too great--it can't even sit up straight!

 

They've got potential, but I think they may have jumped the gun on going commercial. Maybe in a year or two they could be really cool (if they have better business sense than artistic sense and therefore manage to stay around), but for now I'm just going to watch rather than truly oggle.

I agree with Poofiemus on the nose and mouth. They're too low and look very awkward. Also, the face up could definitely look better. I'd love to see a blank head that a great face up artist would do so we can see what she really looks like with an awesome face up. As for the tinies, well, I don't really care for how they look. They're kinda not cute.

Yeah, they are pretty much a 'miss' for me. It feels like someone set out to make an 'anime' face and body without doing any concept design first. I agree the open mouth 60cm heads have potential, and the stylized tinies remind me of some Japanese artist dolls, but... I'll stick with SQ labs.

Ummn I like how the legs looks, but not sure about the shape of the boobs, and the face just looks ordinary and awkward. Maybe we need to give them time to improving their sculpt, but I'm glad that there's another company that makes anime styled dolls.

I on the other hand am really liking them? >w< I have been waiting for a more chubbier body since forever and I'm actually glad that the top isn't too thin like the usual pear-shaped bodies, it looks more natural (and closer to what my body looks like XD) The boobs are high but not too high, to be honest. It's something that bothers me a lot too with a lot of dolls out there (like, the Luts Type 4 is fabulous in size but the placement is just no). I mean, you just have to compare where the boobs are in comparison to where the collarbones are.

And the smily girl is just too adorable! I'm glad this thread existed so I could know I can get them cheaper directly *v*

DoA thread is very helpful. The dolls are confirmed to be resin by AC! Also, their resin colors are the same as Dikadoll-- according to a user on DoA, that means that 2D normal skin matches DD white skin. That sounds a bit odd, but eh.

It's not odd, imho.

DD NS is quite pinkish and darker than many companies Normal Pink.

DD WS might be quite a good match to some Cream White resins, or light Normal Skin resins.

HorusDoll is now distributing 2D Doll too-- they're having a 10% sale to start. Price is better than AC, and might be better than going through a shopping service if 2D Doll won't sell direct. I'm a bit curious, so I think I'll send them an email today to see if they're willing to sell direct.

 

DD WS and NS are indeed very dark compared to resin colors-- it's just that I've seen Dikadoll normal skin and it looks darker than DD WS from memory. Eh, oh well! :>

I want to like them...I like the body shape overall (I like curvy girls!), but the boobs bug me too. And the faces...I don't know, but something seems "off" about all of them, especially in the mouth. Maybe once they refine their sculpting a bit more they will seem more inviting.

The bodies are very stocky and the faces don't look very well sculpted.

 

Perhaps they'd look better with a custom faceup, but I wouldn't count on it.

Oh good! I was hoping the forum had a thread on them.

 

I instantly fell in love with their bodies. Those hips are so wide, and I love how short they look! Plus they have the pretty long legs. None of their faces really make me scream "I need this!", but I really would like to own one. Perhaps put an SQ Labs head on there?

A couple of people said the mouth + noses on them look kind of off, and I think I know why. The section where the upper lip connects to the nose pooches out waaaay too much, and it's making a lot of them look like whos from How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It's especially evident in the doll on the banner when you go to look at the 60cm ones. Who dolls. xD Either that, or duck lips. lol

 

The body is actually pretty nice though; I don't get why a lot of people think the boobs sit up too high when the DD shapely busts and DDdy busts seem way higher and more balloon like than that to me. xD The transition from chest into boobs could be a little smoother (kind of looks like they took a flat body and just slapped the boobs on), but other than that they're alright. The DDdy body seems a lot more exaggerated than the 2D one in the boobs and hips, in my opinion. The 2D body seems more natural. Could be a nice alternative for anyone who liked the look of anime dolls but wanted something more natural-looking.

 

Not to stereotype, but I can't help be a bit wary of it because they're Chinese. I know there are very well-known Chinese doll companies, but this one is new. As Mad-eye Moody said, "Constant vigilance!" xD
