DDIII Elbow Joint - Always visible

Recommended Posts

mokonamodoki

Hi! I'm a first-time DD owner and I was wondering if it's normal for the elbow joints of the DDIII to be always visible. I've tried searching about it here and all I found were posts about their flexibility, which I appreciate.

What I don't is how you can still see the "double joint" part even in a relaxed pose.

It's even worse after straightening out the arm after a bent pose.

Is this normal? If so, how do you guys pose the arm back such that the "double joint" can't be seen again?

Thanks!

When you pose the elbow bent all the way up it pulls that joint out a bit. If you want it to look nicer when it's straightened just push the lower arm back up into the upper arm. It should stay that way unless you bend the elbow again.

I'm a bit afraid to force it back in, but I've tried gripping her shoulder while gently wiggling and pushing her forearm so the joint goes in. The result is the first image. XD I've seen images where it's upper arm, ball joint, then the forarm, not like mine where it's upper arm, little stem, ball joint, forearm.

Maybe I'm just being nitpicky XD

I think it should go in a bit further than in the first photo, you probably need to push a bit more forcefully. It's a bit nerve wracking at first but DD's are pretty sturdy.

I think I'll live with it until I work up the nerve to push it in. lol.

I know just how you feel! The first time someone here suggested I take off my girl's head in order to do something, I totally panicked and it was months before I could bring myself to try because I was so afraid that I would break something! I'm still not totally comfortable yanking off any of my girls' heads, but not for fear of breaking them anymore...now its only because I feel like I am decapitating them!! They really are sturdy, though, so don't be afraid to push fairly hard. They seem to be able to take a lot!

This is so true! I had to take Annie's hands off to get a dress on her, so I figured I'd pull it out at the armature instead of just taking the vinyl off. I had to put some serious muscle behind it to get it out! I don't know if it's just the DD2 or if the DD3 is like this as well, but the armature seems to be able to take a bit of punishment, haha. Next time I'm just taking the vinyl off to get a dress on her!
