SisterKyoya Posted April 6, 2014 I don't think I've ever posted photos and waited to write everything after you've had a chance to see them. I am just stunned by these photos and Lorelai herself. Everything about her was unexpected. I never, ever, ever thought I'd own an 02 and love her without mods to the sculpt. I was wrong, so very wrong. Almost all the 02s I've seen were pissed off/angry looking and since I am highly sensitive about facial expressions, I couldn't make peace with the Aoi faceup because it usually makes me really upset as if she is furious at me. The even bigger surprise was that Lorelai stole someone's head. So yes, I have two 02 in the works. Color me shocked. A Gothic DD has floated around my mind for quite a while, but I honestly thought she would be 3-5 years away. I have this odd habit of when I get really upset about something, I find a way to make my own, and often end up happier than if I had gotten what I originally wanted. The short version is that I have been eyeing a prerooted DD head on Volks USA for a few months with some of the decal eyes but couldn't get them before everything changed. Lorelai was the fix for that. She was also a bit of an experiment too. I was really curious if it was possible to have a DD faceup done entirely from watercolor pencils. Obviously it is. The real bonus of this is her eyebrows that look like they are actually hairs. I could have done her faceup without the lines being so stark, but then to me it wouldn't fit the Gothic style as well. She still needs a few more coats of sealant and her lips glossed and maybe some eyelashes before her faceup can officially be declared finished. Her eyes were made from some D.Eye.Y eyes I was given, and they were also colored with colored pencils. They are not perfect but they aren't intended to be since they are supposed to look drawn. For the last couple of days she has been pestering me to have her photos taken but I had to point out that she had no hair, and hair is important (unless you are Dolly or Ralph...) Part of her story is that she actually constructed herself from things she found around the house (this also explains the colored pencils.) She is a rather silly girl, but she had had enough of my excuses. "I like lace. You have some lace in that one drawer full of too many ribbons. Why can't I have hair made of lace?" stating everything matter-of-factly as if it were perfectly normal. So we raided the drawer to see what we could find. She will not permanently have this 'hair', but since she is her own work in progress it makes sense for the time being. (Trust me, it does.) Even with all of that, these pictures just stun me. Even though her timing wasn't the best, I am unbelievably happy that she has joined our family. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Ravendruid Posted April 7, 2014 That lace for her hair is pretty cool, looks a lot like a veil, but I really can't wait to see her with an actual wig. It will be interesting to see how she evolves, though, if she is building herself based on what she can find around This house. I'd also be very curious to see how some of the other kids react to her and her constantly changing appearance. Hopefully she doesn't freak Tama out. All that I've gotten from Yuriko about her is thust that she's weird. Sohi, however, is as unreadable as ever, although she was staring pretty intently at the pictures (not that staring is anything new for her).
