mitsuki Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) We didn't go out much on Christmas day. It was quite chilly in Galveston and a bit rainy. Haruka on Christmas morning. We don't do any formal opening of presents on Christmas. Our only objective is to be together. The highlight of Christmas was having a pot roast dinner with our whole family together at the same table. Haruka in the car on the way back to Corpus Christi the day after Christmas. Haruka in the front yard. The weather was cool and partly cloudy. That's our house in the background. "It's warm when the sun comes out from behind the clouds." For New Year's, the only fireworks we saw were the ones being shot off by our neighbors who live in houses qualifying as outside the city limits. There are often guns being shot off as well here in Texas to celebrate the New Year. Haruka on New Year's Day in the front yard again. Her yukata has little rabbits on it. Happy Year of the Rabbit, everyone! Edited January 15, 2011 by Guest
baldylox Posted January 2, 2011 OH MY LORD! How cute are her pajamas??? I must have some of those!!! Eeeeeee! Some really nice shots in here Mitsuki. I especially like her outside in her yukata, those are so nice! She looks great in that outfit too. You picked a great girl to come along and share your trip with. Happy New Year from Manami, Rei, Yoko, Lenny , Squiggy and me! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

mitsuki Posted January 3, 2011 Thank you both! Baldylox, pet your kitties for me - and pet your bunny, oni, and lolita/maid for me too. Here is the link for the pajamas ($29, you can choose the pattern and size): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290366924078&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Here are links for yukatas ($25.15 and $27.95): http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-Dollfie-SD-DD-Luts-Japanese-Outfit-Yukata-Spring-/300501126971?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f7434f3b http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-Dollfie-SD-DD-Luts-Japanese-Outfit-Yukata-Kylin-/290516916895?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a4285a9f http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-Dollfie-SD-DD-Luts-Japanese-Outfit-Yukata-Flower-/120666105112?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c1842a518 The yukata is a 1/3 scale yukata that requires yukata putting-on skills. It helps if you have put one on yourself, but I can't imagine Baldylox would have ever tried that. The ones Volks releases are already "pre-folded" and are easier to put on but cost almost twice as much ($50). http://www.volksusa.com/sdyukata.html http://site.volksusa.com/sumikatimes/2009/05/04/you-gotta-get-a-yukata/
MsGeek Posted January 3, 2011 Awesome pix! Yeah, people shoot up into the air here too, that's why I wasn't out New Year's Eve. Here's what Yumi and I did New Year's Day:
mitsuki Posted January 3, 2011 Those are awesome photos, MsGeek! Yumiko is gorgeous in that dress. She looks like she had lots of fun walking around everywhere, being surrounded by all the activity, and ordering the most expensive stuff in the restaurant. The killer water bun bun is also really cool.
baldylox Posted January 4, 2011 Whooo! Thanks so much for the PJ link! I'll have to get the girls some of those soon! They're just so cute! And how do YOU know I haven't tied an Obi before?? Give me a little credit Mitsuki... Ah, who am I kidding, I cant tie my shoes much less an Obi. I need one more yukata or kimono for Rei and all my girls will then have one. Must do this before spring so the girls can go to festivals in them! Thanks for the links to those too Mitsuki! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. baldylox Posted January 4, 2011 Here's what Yumi and I did New Year's Day: Hey, nice pics! Yall look like you had loads of fun! I really like this picture: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5045/5318672676_406b621b5e_z.jpg Too bad the girl holding Yumi does not have proper daughter handling skills. mitsuki Posted January 4, 2011 It is not that I don't think you can't tie. I think it would be so funny to imagine you in a pink girly kimono or yukata. You don't have to tie the obi in this set. You just have to do the folding so that the yukata doesn't extend 5 inches past the feet. That would be really cute if you found a complete set of kimono/yukata for your whole family. Well, I do own a male short Yukata ( cant recall the Japanese name for it ) and it invloves a small belt to tie up. But it's nothing difficult at all. And it isn't girly or pink so you can just forget seeing pics of me in THAT kind of thing... But if you're lucky, maybe I'll email you pics of me dressed as Princess Leia for Halloween one year way back... LOL Maybe with some "expert" help ( wink wink, looking at YOU Mitsuki ) I can get 2 of those you linked to and set up the girls by springtime. I agree that 4 girls with yukatas would be awesome to get pics of in a park downtown or out on the battery. I'll make that a goal for the spring! Billy I think the guy version is also just called a yukata. For some reason, they aren't complicated like the girl version. That is hilarious about your Halloween costume! I can't even begin to imagine it. I will definitely try to help. I want to see all your girls in cute yukata too.
baldylox Posted January 5, 2011 I think the long version for the guys is called a yukata but the one I have is different. It actually has shorts with it and not the long robe parts. It's a separate long shirt with a fabric "belt" to tie the front closed and long shorts that also need to be tied on front, if that makes any sense. My buddy in Osaka sent it to me and he says it's used for doing things around the house, going out to get the paper or just lounging around in a hotel. I just wish I could think of what it was called because I know it was something besides yukata.... I had that picture of me as Leia online for less than 3 weeks and suddenly it was everywhere I looked. I had friends photoshopping it, making posters and all sorts of stupidity. And it wasn't even a good looking one either. I didn't even shave my ghoatee for it. Ah well, whatever made them happy, I didn't care. And thank you for offering your assistance on the yukatas! I knew you'd help me out but I wanted to rib you a little first. I don't know how long it will take me to get them but I'll plan for March/April since that's when we start getting warmer weather and things start growing again. mitsuki Posted January 5, 2011 I think it is a jinbei. Sounds comfortable. That seller has those yukata listed often so I think you can take your time. That is insanity about the Leia photo of you. That is so crazy and so funny.
baldylox Posted January 5, 2011 Ahh, Jinbeu sounds very familiar. I think you may have it there Mitsuki! I have pics of me in it at home so maybe I'll post it here so you can see what i am talking about. Unfortunately I am also wearing a Ryomou eypatch and wielding a katana so you'll get a laugh out of it. That's good to hear about that ebay seller. Sounds like I'll be able to grab those yukata without too much issue. I'll post up the Leia picture when I find it on my computer. I can't recall what file it's hidden away in. It may be in the same folder as the picture of me jumping over my sisters Mustang as she was driving at me around 15 mph. Yeah, I'm an idiot...
