finnleo Posted April 11, 2014 Well.. my personal good news this week was that Youmu finally arrived after the customs formalities, and ransoms... Bad news is about 45 minutes out of the box she got stained pretty badly by a clothing article I had thaught to be rather safe since it hadnt caused any issues before (nagatos black witch cape)... Guess having been kept in a plastic bag for several years had made it angry... Anyways, I was left with a Youmu that had a badly stained body and head due to the dye clinging onto my fingers, and leaving prints all over the doll as I had freaked over the initial streak that came about by the fabric just grazing her head. good news is I've finally found a Benzyol oxide product locally which I can atleast try to destain her, but while I was fuming at my fumble at work, I decided to kick off with pictures anyways. So here's Nina still in her default form, and there'll be a bit of a photostory tomorrow as I get the pictures of that and story tweaked. hope you like: youmu000 youmu001 Her left lower cheek got a faint stain to it, though its a bit hard to see in certain light. youmu002 youmu003 The swords are neat, although Id still recomend the Doyusha kits over these, due to the slightly cheap feel of the shorter sword handle: youmu004 youmu005 youmu006 youmu007 youmu008 youmu009 Oh, and the Name Nina comes out of "A pilots lovesong", an anime that ran last season, in wich Aoi Yuki voiced a character called Clara Claire, who had a alter alias Nina Viente, whom I sort of saw in Youmus default facep with her eyeshadow accents. youmu010 Thank you for looking! youmu011
kymaera Posted April 11, 2014 Some great poses with the sword there. Hope you're able to get her destained without much hassle.
Cauldroness Posted April 11, 2014 Wow, great job posing her! All her movements look really natural, which can be SO hard with a doll, even one as poseable as a DDS. She also looks way better in your photos than she ever did in the promo photos from Volks. Doll Photos & Doll Jewelry Sales: Follow me on Instagram!
Ayuuya Posted April 12, 2014 Congratulations on Nina's safe arrival! I'm sorry to hear that she got stained, but I hope that the destaining process goes smoothly for you. These are wonderful pictures of Nina, I think the last photo with her bowing is adorable u wu~
knc Posted April 12, 2014 Wow you're really great at posing her! It's sad she stained so quickly, though. I hope you can get them out!
finnleo Posted April 12, 2014 Thank you all very many. Im personally not that neurotic about stains, and actually the one stain that shows on her head despite a wig covering most of it, I managed a rather fun solution that adds character (but more of that in the photostory). This was just getting over my own hump of having the latest girl in the worst shape ever within an hour. But such is life occasionally. now that have the photostory done can try and see does the stuff I baught work. About the picture quality im a little divided. I think the only main problem with the volks pictures were how her default eyes were made to look, which was really the only thing that was putting me off her as a basis for something original. But even here their just a little bit too bright colored for my liking. I think her most challenging feature is her nose, that seems to dissolve making her look a bit like Voldemort or serpent like in my oppinnion. Im not 100% happy because I only had artificial light to work with, since this girl really does not have luck on her side considering sunlight, as of the day she came in its now supposed to be cloudy and rainy for weeks... heh.. even broke a lightbulb while photographing her. finnleo Posted April 13, 2014 Very nice photos, alot of poses which i can use when i unboxing my saber haha. Thank you. Although, if you want to mimic poses, for a saber I'd suggest this batch. Can only speak for sabers caliburn (or excalibur.. I always forget which stick is which.), but its quite a different beast to balance than the one's that come with Youmu. Oh, and btw.. the bandaid idea I had... bad idea... very bad idea if left on for longer... *digs out the 800 wet/dry paper.. *

I hope I can come up with some poses myself. still waiting for some of the clothes to arrive. I brought her the black suit from fate zero when she was riding that bike
finnleo Posted April 14, 2014 Minor quick update, She survived the weekend... Just... So after the stains, the bandaid idea I got was indeed cute, but the glue on textile bandaids apparently does evil things to new vinyl ... thus eating a bit into her cheek. After this I really thaught id binned her, but since nothing was to lose, I used some 800 wet/dry paper with water to sand out the flat spots. a few shots with the akne-cream didnt yield any miracle results, but she's still servicable... for now: nina007 nina006 Never ever in over six years have I had a doll thats been this much of a handfull, eventhough I have to take the blaim for it all.. heh. She really is a spirit of missfortune if anything... really need to reconsider renaming her Momiji..

finnleo Posted April 15, 2014 what camera u using? Nikon D3200, with either a 35mm prime lens, or the kit one if I dont have enough room to operate. Nothing fancy, but complicated enough for me.
