noirioko Posted April 16, 2014 Hi! I'm sorry if this has already been asked. I own chihaya , and I know her wig stains. I had used protectors and it still stained bright blue. I regretted it so much even bother putting it on her. So I tried to wash the wig.. I have seen other people doing the same with room temperature water and mild soap, coconut shampoo etc and the result of the water turning blue. Somehow, I have washed so many times with every possible techniques, the water just won't turn blue. I don't know if I'm doing it right or wrong, but I don't dare to put the wig on her again, not until I know how to wash wigs properly orz. So if anybody can help me, then I will appreciate it very much. thanks
waha Posted April 16, 2014 Do you have a spare piece from a DD body? Or a spare headcap? Or even a spare hand. Do some testing and see if the wig will stain that piece. If it does, you can always treat it a bit more easily than you can a head. ^^
Bubbles Posted April 16, 2014 Put some regular shampoo into the wig. Buy something with minimal additives or lotions. Soak the wig in a bucket of water for at least 3 days. Change the water and shampoo every 8 hours or so, rinsing the wig clean each time before reapplying the shampoo. It takes hours of soaking with water + shampoo before the water start getting a bit blue. Use a white bucket. Take photos of the dirty water before you change it. You can compare the water changes to see if progressively less blue dye is going into the water. I have Chihaya and I did this. I had the wig on for over a month without staining. I used a cloth wig cap+ silicon wig cap to protect the scalp.
jadepixel Posted April 16, 2014 I have this wig too, and washing/soaking mine I never saw dye come out like other people have. I just ended up not using the wig since I was unsure about it. I found a similar wig from Dollce that doesn't stain, and use that one instead. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
Bubbles Posted April 17, 2014 I used a teaspoon of shampoo each time on the wig, re-applying shampoo every 6 to 12 hours. I actually alternated between 3 different kinds of shampoo so its hard to say what worked the best. Here are some photos I took. I didn't take photos of the first 2 water changes since I didn't think to do so early on. The water+shampoo mixture was darker than the 3rd water change and it left a blue line on bucket at the water edge, after the water was dumped out. noirioko Posted April 18, 2014 Alright! Thanks for the replies guys. Last time I have soaked it 3 days too, several water change and shampoo but no color change. I guess I wasn't paying too much attention to the water, since the color changing is very mild.. I don't know how some other people can get the water VERY blue, scary thing. I do find it hard to wash clean the wigs though... I will try soaking it again like you said and test it with a spare hand and see what happens in a few days. Will update here if it works. @jadepixel so basically all dollce wigs doesn't stain? do i need a proxy shopping service to use it? thanks
jadepixel Posted April 18, 2014 Alright! @jadepixel so basically all dollce wigs doesn't stain? do i need a proxy shopping service to use it? thanks The ones I got haven't stained, but they do have some darker threads inside so I use them with a cloth head cap. You don't have to worry about the fibers staining like Chihaya's wig. I used a shopping service to order from them jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop

Talolili Posted July 2, 2014 I also washed the wig and included a pic of the excess blue dye. I think I'm going to try again with a different shampoo, because even after days of soaking in water (and having only clear water left) the wig still stains.
