Dollfie Dream - Repair and Parts Swap

Recommended Posts

pharaviel

[2016 edit: reworking a little the infos, considering new parts available and infos]

I'm compiling informations on compatibility/interchangeability of Dollfie Dream parts, and I thought I'll put my notes here on the forum for everyone.

  • I'll keep quotes of information I find here on the forum, with the user that found/posted it.

  • Feel free to add your experience and ask questions!

  • The list is composed mainly of original Volks parts, but if you have knowledge of compatible pieces (like the coolcat neck joint or the peach pai busts) I'll add it to the list!

  • I'll leave comments when I'm not sure about something

  • Part legend is:
    • Standard Volks part
    • Other Volks part that fits
    • Non-Volks part

Model List/links

  • Dollfie Dream 2
  • Dollfie Dream 3
  • Dollfie Dream Dynamite: Work in progress
  • Dollfie Dream Dynamite 3: Work in progress
  • Dollfie Dream Sister: Work in progress
  • Mini Dollfie Dream: Work in progress
  • Mini Dollfie Dream 3: Work in progress

Dollfie Dream 2

  •
    Broken Part:
  • Neck

    [*]Bust

    • Every part starting with the code DDII-B. The following number just identifies the breast size.
(Normal skin and white skin - can be bought at Volks)
    • Every part starting with the code DDIII-B. The following number just identifies the breast size.
(Slightly different shoulders - normal skin, semi white skin and white skin - can be bought at Volks)
    • Every part starting with the code DDS-B. The following number just identifies the breast size.
(Slightly different shoulders and breast size - normal skin, semi white skin and white skin - can be bought at Volks)

    [*]Arms

    • Nothing: Volks provides replacement for the outer vinyl part only (DDII-A-01, in normal skin only). Parts of the inside skeleton, on the DDII, cannot be bought.
    • DDIII-A-01 I'm pretty sure about this, but correct me if I'm wrong! (Arms with internal skeleton - different shoulder shape - exist in normal skin, semi white skin and white skin - can be bought at Volks)
    • DDS-A-01 I'm pretty sure about this, but correct me if I'm wrong! (Arms with internal skeleton - different shoulder shape and shorter than original DDII arms - exist in normal skin, semi white skin and white skin - can be bought at Volks)

    [*]Legs

    Need info

  • Feet
    • Nothing: Volks doesn't provide replacement feet for DD2, and other DD models are not compatible.
      Thanks Oni-Chan for the info.

Question: under the bust you have the DDS new internal frame or the DD2 frame?

DDII. It's probably not preferred since both arms don't fit in 100%, but that doesn't bother me since just the arms needed to be replaced, and I didn't want to have to buy another bust if I didn't have to.

Here she is in a sleeveless dress, so you can see how the shoulders fit into the bust.

The fit most likely isn't perfect because the ridges on the DDII arms and DDS arms are different. I'm sure you can see it in the product photos better than I can describe it, but the DDII arm pegs have hollowed out areas while the DDS have raised ridges.

The imperfect fit causes her arm to wriggle out every now and then

It's easy to push back in though.

This is a great topic that can help new and also more familiar DD owners. I have a suggestion, though, if you don't mind. ^__^ Whenever it's a non-Volks part, maybe it would be helpful to put some links for easy access? The Volks website is pretty self-explanatory... But maybe for third-party sites a link would help people, especially newer doll owners. I've gotten the links for Cool Cat for you, so you wouldn't have to search for them. ^__^

Cool Cat: http://us.sk-coolcat.com/front/bin/home.phtml

Links to all repair items: http://us.sk-coolcat.com/front/bin/ptlist.phtml?Category=382741

Just a friendly suggestion. Great work on the topic, it's formatted and written very well.

My DD2 Ari decided to give out at the knees and smash backwards onto a metal shelf. Her head and neck peg are fine but the part under the neck peg and the casing are smashed and cracked =___= (why you do this to me Ari???)

Anyway my question is, has anyone tried to or have put a dd3 upper torso skeleton onto a dd2 waist peg?

The only issue i see so far is that the dd2 waist peg is too wide to fit into the hole of the dd3 skeleton piece, so really if the waist peg was to get sanded down a bit to fit, there shouldnt be any other issues right?

Can anyone help with this or confirm?

Unfortunately my dd2 waist is already broken so I can't check if it will fit. The fitting of the arm would not be perfect (as you can see a couple of post ago), but it could work.

I had a broken neck peg d3 upper torso so i thought what the hell and went ahead and slowly, painfully sanded out the peg hole. It needs a bit more sanded at the very end of hole, currently it sits like .02 cm off the d2 waist peg end.

Being a d3 upper skeleton, you will need to get d3 arms but it doesnt look too bad, the mod /hybrid can be done! My suggestion is to make sure that the upper piece slides on smooth, not firmly as i'd be worried of snapping the waist peg at the very base of the D2 torso

Im currently using the d2 bust so it does go a bit funny around the armholes at times but im sure there shouldnt be any problem if you use a d3 bust. (Ill try it later on)

In the last pic, I pushed her arm back into the socket as it came out slightly (Because D2 Busts are a bit wider around the shoulder/Arm holes? :/ )

Hope that helps guys!
