DD2 Forearm Replacement with 3D Printing

Recommended Posts

Hi All! It's been a while since I last posted in these forums but I wanted to share a recent dollfie dream repair job I did. Here's a couple images of the pieces:

I've been creating some dollfie dream accessories with 3D printing recently so I decided to take a shot at printing a replacement DD skeleton piece. Here's a couple photos of the part:

Originally I was going to do something fancy where the part clipped to the elbow joint but in the end I decided to go with the simplest thing I could think of, which was just having an interference fit on both the elbow and wrist parts. Here's the piece partly installed:

It takes a bit of effort to get the pieces together, which is okay since we don't want them coming apart. Here's the completed install:

The wrist joint is probably a bit tighter than it needs to be since it now takes some effort to rotate the wrist joint but it's not that big of a deal. Let's see what Misty thinks of her fixed arm:

Misty approves!

If you'd like one of these replacement forearms, I've put the model on my shapeways page at: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/dollfieliving

That's incredible! And very helpful. It'd be nice if more replacement parts could be done this way, since Volks charges a lot... On things that I think that are flaws of their design. (Such as the weak shoulders.) Very cool, thanks for posting!

My next project is the MDD shoulder joint since my poor Rena has a broken one.

I'm sure if you made that available, many people would be interested! I have heard many "horror stories" about MDD bodies.

Awesome repair idea, it's great what we can do now. This sort of technoloy could likely be used to fix a number of problems
